[QUOTE=Dragonprince;1161061]I went for my servicing today ,It cost me 950 rupees (500-oil change,350teflon coating,100 oil filter). I have gone to mumbai, andheri, amboli, bajaj service center. Also they were planning on charging extra for chain spray but didnt.I get a feeling they were trying to make 350 rupees more by charging me for chain lubrication but ended up not trying it.I told the bike dude about the 2 complaints which were 1. The thud noise and 2. the sudden noise which comes in the back of the bike and stops. He said its all due to the shock absorber suspension setting and that he can reduce the thump to a degree but it wont go completely( I dont know what he did but now the bike feels more bouncy bouncy i dont like it)The thump noise has gone down a little, but the setting change makes you feel potholes really badly. The gear shifting and rpm has definitely improved. The job roughly takes 15-20 mins when they do it but they do so much time pass in between it took roughly 3 hours from 9am in the morning to 1pm in the afternoon .To be honest i cant even make out the difference in my bike before and after the teflon coating.I asked them how much it would cost for repair of my mudguard and they said 1k rupees (i think its exhorbitantly expensive) i replaced my friends front mudguard and they had done it for 300 rupees. I just came to know today that all mudguards of all bikes are carbon fiber so i dont know why the difference in the RS and normal price of mudguard. So i was told by the dude to buy fevikwik and stick the mudguard crack ( i bought it and gave it to him and he stuck it shabbily ,i could have done a better job than that) They open your fairing and do the changes(they dont open it completely but partially atleast for the first service ).All in all so so experience ,if any questions feel free to ask them[/QUO
So according to you Teflon coating is waste of money and can you please tell
me what point should be taken into consideration at first service.

Yes i think the teflon coating is waste of money as its expensive ,not much difference (costs 350 rupees) and lasts for a week according to the cleaner who was also doing the teflon coating.(if what he says is true about the teflon coating lasting 1 week then its a total waste ). check the oil yourself and see if it needs changing (only if they insist let them change it otherwise manage with the 1 you currently have) basically my oil was clean and almost full, little less than full (like i had said when receiving my R.S) and they replaced it from oil from the shack which was horrible (like i can see its dirty ) they saw i was watching so they removed that also and then opened the new bottle and put in the new oil ,Motul something was the name. So the whole oil change in my opinion was not required .oil filter needs to be changed which is fine (they charge you 100 for it when you can buy it in the market for approx 20-50 rupees) Dont let them adjust your rear shock absorber ,they make the sound less but it makes the bike feel more bouncy ( so normally you would hear 1 thud on the speed breaker ,now you will hear thuds of lower volume but through pot holes and speed breakers and the bike feels bouncy). The gearing and the brakes have improved drastically specially the brakes .First they had a sharp bite now they have less sharp bite but are more progressive in nature (like a cycle brake) Which i like so happy on that part. Back brake feels also little bit weaker but more progressive(you have to press more harder to achieve same break power ) I have mixed feelings about this part. Make sure they properly spray the chain lubricant after cleaning the bike on the chain and adjust the slack of the chain to the 25 mark. This chain part was important as my chain slack was high and was causing the sudden noise from my rear bike area (atleast thats what they said). My clutch setting was already at half point so no adjustment was needed there . They were also doing something in the front bottom end of the bike which i coudnt make out . ALL in all my service cost was and should have been around 100-200 rupees but they revved it up to 950/.Also they really badly manhandle your bike if your not there ,so make a point and wait there for the 2-3 hour period. It actually takes them just 15-30 mins to do the work but they are very inefficient, so go in the morning like at 8 am before the crowd comes.I saw them move other peoples bike which included a red rs and scratched it up by banging it against other bike while trying to fit it into a narrow space in the bike rows(they didnt intentionally do it but the manhandling of the bike was not required and if they didnt do that it would not have got scratched.)they do so many bikes in a day so they dont really care bout it like us and as a result can damage your bike in negligence and haste(while still wasting your 3hours) When your standing they treat your bike carefully. Also i noticed this although i cant confirm it (i had filled up my tank and gone and when i got it back from them it was 2 bars less) Kilometer was 500 exact when i gave it and was reading 506 when i got it back so ....... i am guessing they drained little bit of the petrol also ,I think they use the petrol as a cleaner but i am not sure) .

I think you got the teflon coating done too early. The bike is still new and therefore did not require teflon coating right now. You could have waited till the second service to get this done.

One advice regarding oil change in first service:

ALWAYS Change the oil in the first service. DO NOT make the mistake of continuing with same oil after the first service. When the bike is new, the engine is not yet set in. So during the first 500 km, there is a lot of friction inside the engine due to which various parts rub against each other when in motion. Therefore, the oil contains a lot of fine metal particles (as an effect of aforementioned rubbing of metal parts). If you continue with the same engine oil, these fine metal particles could harm the engine.

BTW the above process is the reason you need to run-in the bike and take it easy during run-in period.

Before the advent of FI systems, the favorite explanation of this used to be "Saar, carburetor saaf karne ke liye nikala tha...." (Saar, took some petrol to clean the carburetor...)

I never used to leave more than 1 L petrol while going for servicing back then. Now, I leave around 2 bars in bike. But never make the mistake of keeping the tank full while giving the bike for servicing.

Hey guys. Hoping to get my Red ABS model by the end of this week, hopefully(inb4 delayed shipment again). I'm planning to remove the tire hugger and saree guard ASAP and was wondering if this would void the warranty or something, as i don't want any unnecessary trouble with the service center people.

Also, does anyone else think the bike looks better without the stickers? (http://i.imgur.com/LxcvCZz.jpg) looks more mature IMO.

I don't know, looks a lil bit mature like NS, stickering makes it funky and edgy, which is good too.

                  Congrats!

Removing tire hugger and saree guard does not void the warranty. But without the tire-hugger, be careful during rains. Your back/pillion will be splattered with mud.

I believe that a saree guard is a requirement by law. You may end up paying a fine if you take it off(I really do not know which idiot made this law though).

                      Hi,
how much oil did they put and what exact product from Motul? It has various qualities like 3100, 5100, 7100 and 300v.
My AS200 uses 1.2L and they poured their dirty oil for Rs400/L i.e. 1.2 Ltr for Rs 480/- + Oil Filter Rs 74/- + chain cleaning lubing Rs 60/-. Total Rs 614/-.

Im guessing oil quantity and oil filter should be same as the engine is same. Changing oil is at first service is very important even though it 'looks' clean. You should not skip it! The new engine wears off and lots of debris may be found in the oil. The technician who serviced my bike first drained only a little bit of oil into the pan and took it out into the sun to analyse it! He said everything is ok and i believed him.

In fact many people here recommend extra oil change at 100-200Km just to be over cautious with their new engine. So its good that the engine oil was changed and even better that they used Motul in place of their regular bajaj oil.

On another note, how are people 5'6" and below handling the bike? This is my main concern atm, as i'm a new rider and kinda nervous about the supposed high seat height.

The only other "tall" bike i've ridden is the duke 200 and i felt pretty comfortable on it, so would i be ok atop the RS?

Actually, it is mandatory for the 'manufacturer' to sell their bikes with a saree guard. But it is not illegal for the riders to take it off after buying the bikes. So people can luckily get rid of the ugly piece of metal hindering the beauty of their rides.
Two tires feel better than four. Period.

I am 5'6 and yeah at first you won't be comfortable at all with the bike. Just the toes touch the ground and it gets difficult to pull the bike back. But as the time pass by you will get comfortable with it.
Riding with pillion in traffic will still be an issue as the weight of the pillion will add on to the already heavy bike and you will have to handle it all on toes.

On the other note, I removed the saree guard and the front number plate (as the traffic rules are not followed that strictly in my city) and man, bike looks much better without these..
