So even ur bike is new (2nd service), its seem to be ur battery is faulty one and u have warranty to replace it...else there is problem with engine Kill switch(which have loose contact)...but ur case ur digital console going blank ,i suspect mostly ur battery....even i changed(without warranty as it happens after 1 year)...
Battery will not cost you much...go for MF batteries with reputed brand......No idea about thak thak noise ...u have to show ur SC....My suspect is ur idling seem to be below required level will cause such noise in ALL GS
Thanks Bro... I will get the battery changed and hope after the change I wont face this issue for long time again.

I am actually new to this Bike riding world.. Silly question but will help me solve my doubts:

I used to get milage of around 66, 60, 55, 62, 59, 63 reserve to reserve for first 2 months. I was actually riding between 40 - 45 kmph. After 750 Kms, I increased speed between 60-70 kmph sometimes 80 and also often used 6th gear on Highways in ECO mode. I found the Milage I get suddenly reduced between 45-50 in last couple of weeks Is it that revving over speed even after the indicator blinks would be causing this??? I over revvvv only at 5th and 6th gear coz the speed limits in eco mode to shift gear after 5th is just 52kmph an 6th gear it starts blinking just after 62kmph

I make sure I use Clutch and gear shifting at optimum. Do not regularly keep changing gears.

Please advise if there is kind of a trick while riding to get better milage?

      Augustine,
Carburettor tuning needs some knowledge; especially practical and is done with the help of certain instruments. Perhaps you will not be able to do it yoursrlf or you will not get the result you need. It is a multi-million dollar business worldwide as the sale of aftermarket air filters and other parts.
Ask the sc mechanics to tune it to the default position or for better mileage or for better performance. You cannot get better mileage and performance together as it will be against science.
The basic ingredients are one and the same in every engine oils but the additives differ. So it is not advisable to mix two oils together.
From where did the service centre mechanic get it as it is not commonly available with them? It costs around Rs. 550/-.
Hope you will take it in correct sense.

        • Arre vishnu and psr: akfara is also saying the same thing....he doesnt care if you are suzuki president itself, he is happy to have knowledgeable guys like you around and wants you guys, especially psr who is seemingly reclusive to share your thoughts more often as he considers them helpful, as do many of us bike maintainance novices. Its just that Saraswati maata hasnt granted him enough skills in english to express it properly. (no offense to akfara) He might make a joke or sincere statement in his language and translate it into english and his message might get lost between translations and paranoia. No need for target practice.

Booked my GS today ...totally relieved and happy
wanted to know how to check if the bike model is 2010 or 2011?
where is the VIN imprinted and which one indicates that it is 2011 model?

                  Shailesh,
Yours is not a silly question and I think this forum is meant for the discussion of doubts like this which will help us from avoidable exploitation of the service centres.

If the horn and indicator bulbs are working properly without starting the bike, and there is no difficulty to start the bike using the ES button, the battery will be fine. Otherwise, at most, you may have to recharge it. There is no probability of the complete damaging of it in such a short period of time.

Here, it seems that the wire connecting the console to the engine is loose in either end. A mere tightening of it will solve the issue. If not, check the console itself for any malfunctioning, though it is rare and then consider replacing the battery.

The noise you mentioned is due to the low idle rpm of the engine. Increasing the rpm will adversely affect the mileage. So, it is better to keep it intact.

The low mileage is due to your speed. In the running in period, you rode the bike in 40-45 kmh speed and now have increased it. So is this decrease in mileage.

                  All the best. Good luck.

Sir ur correct in explaining mixing two different brand, due to the additive they use, augestine want to express that he never want to change the spark plug to stock Plug OEM from suzuki for GS150 ,without his knowledge or without informing him his ,SC changed to Stock Spark plug....as per mentioned schedule(not sure) to replace spark plug...
He want to replace with irudium ones later from buying outside market...Now after finding that SC replaced that to stock ones...He need another 10k kilometer to wait to change his liking IRUDIUM one,as he don't want to waste the current new one(OEM)...is that correct augestine??????? or i am wrong ?

Yes Mr vishnu sir is correct, this advanced spark plug not available with SC(as it was against the rule of Suzuki to use other than OEM for main core parts)

                      • Today I have tuned my bike again,in the original old school way,it is now at 2.5 turns just like factory settings and the idle screw too has been brought to comply with factory settings. The response of the bike is now perfect...........though yet to conclude anything on the mileage part..........let me see how much mileage it fetches out of 4.5 lts on petrol......then I can report.

I don't know if you are aware of the fact that the new Pulsar150DTSi has graduated from BS26 to BS29 officially........The bike which used to pump 14bhp now pumps 15bhp from the very same 150cc engine, without any change to the valve settings or the way the engine breathes the air..........it still runs the same air-filter material too..........hence I have my faith in this mod.

Still however I would be running the KN air filter in case it needs more air to feed the fuel mix and inject it at the Venturi velocity which the engine can take.........but I think it wont be needed.

Oops !!! I never said you misleading any one or me I meant you are against tuning carb by own by any one so I thought that post by mach will make you you to type alot.

I will do what ever I wish to do but I dont mind how you do it as its none of my business moreover no one is dominating no one in this forum we are sharing information where one learns and shares with other

Even I dont like and am not an expert to advice any one on tuning carb because I am well aware that mileage depends on several other criterias.

On that post I was not advising any one to tune to that position to get mileage just clarified falcons doubt on what mach said,

per mach bhai that position (2.5) turns from closed position gives only 40 to 45 kmpl where last time my svc tuned my bike to that position only ( I confirmed with them and they did it in front of me) and am getting mileage between 55 to 62 kmpl thats why I mentioned it.

The leaner position is the one that goes more closer to fully closed position so one full turn from fully closed is more leaner or tom much lean rite.

As mr vishnu sir told , U can follow about battery and thak thak sound due to low RPM.....i am not eligible to comment ur riding and mileage ,as riding behavior varies to different guys....but my own thought is ur over revving too much on 5th gear...to make fuel flow more and may be due to that u may get less mileage compared to ur previous sane ride ...this is my own view....

i have still confused about the design of Suzuki Fuel tank, due to that some of them includes me too get false reserve(i am not confident to tell that is false reserve)...MY mech told me in pulsar the bottom is flat and getting false reserve in pulsar is Less compare to OUR GS(i know he is not the designer of the fuel tank, and his thoughts is not 100 percent correct ,Only a Suzuki engineer needs to clear our doubts)....just share what he tells me...and i am sharing what he told....
see this video posted in face book by Suzuki.....

                            YouTube - Video00401
I try to do this and get knocking in engine
riding 23kmph in 6th gear.....But 30kmph is OK for 6th gear according to Mr vishnu sir

                            And he(suzuki) posted another video
YouTube - suzuki gs150r 131km/hr The best ride

Look likes it was tryied in center stand as the sound suggest in the video look like the bike was did that speed in center stand....(notice the sound in video)
but Our GS is capable to do this in real time as Amitine does smoking a RTR 180 at the above speed

                            • @all GSpians, please for God's sake do not take offence in what each of us say.................I had been riding Suzuki bikes ever since I learnt motorcycling and dammit,I learnt it on a Shogun. My first ever Superbike ride was in New York,I was in tenth standard and I rode a GSX1000R and it was a Suzuki...........my pride lies in the motorcycle Hayabusa-the legend and not in the ZZR1400.I have ridden the Zeus and enjoyed maximum torque at 3500rpm like the Suzuki Bandit......a true revelation of XTP.I have three bikes in my house right now,Shogun,Fiero and GS150R.....all are Suzuki, one of my best friend is a mechanic,(whose shop I now partly fund) and in his better days he was a head mechanic in one of the biggest TVS-Suzuki SVC in our city.He left his job and started his shop just after Suzuki had quit the JV with TVS.........because TVS failed to provide him the respect that he used to fetch optimising and tuning Suzuki era vehicles, and he still has two certificates which show he was certified as a 1st class performer at the Harita,Hosur factory of TVS-Suzuki in TN and not once but twice, once on training of 2 stroke engines and second during the training on bigger capacity 4 stroke engines during the launch of Fiero.Even after all these, when I wanted to sell my Zeus and go for the RTR180 which is again a TVS bike.....I thought I needed an all rounder........and even with only one Sub-dealer of Suzuki bikes and SVC in the city I went forward and bought my GS150R,because this very mechanic suggested me to do so,even though he came to knew of the existence of this six speed bike from myself................My next Bike is going to be the Bking........Suzuki Bking,I am just patiently awaiting its launch.

All these surely tells how much I love my bike and specially if its a Suzuki branded bike..........I don't sell a good Suzuki bike ever, hence the 2T and the early 4T still exists in my garage......along with this new gen bike and the next one is going to be a monster.I know what makes a Bike good and bad and I never suggest anyone to follow my techniques...........afterall it is not everyone's cup of tea to have that courage......and I guarantee that each of my bikes smokes all other bikes in their category like they are from another world,an UFO which cannot be chased.I have smoked a Karizma full time with my Shogun and it was not a street race but a drag race on an open stretch of 400metres.A classic CBZ with my Fiero back in its heydays, the CBZ lost control in a corner. My GS150R sheds awe and humiliation from every Pulsar or FZ or Unicorn or Dazzler rider we come across, reckless or non reckless,be it a joy ride or a highway tour.........and all these won't be possible if I really spoil my bikes due to my lack of knowledge.

And if my knowledge really seems dumb to some people after all of these, then I am happy with it.........so long all these Bikes of mine are my hard earned money, spent on idolising the company of my dreams.............Suzuki.

I request all my brothers to be tolerant and gentle with everyone's point of view and maintain the decorum of this thread as real Suzuki owner's thread.
The GS150R thread pulls users and viewers from perhaps all the corners of Xbhp.......as people keep wondering that how a badly marketed bike can become so popular..........I hope they know,it is a story of passion. So we should not let this thread to get dirty.
