This may be due to slight expansion in engine due to excessive heat as ours is AAI (All Aluminum Engine) give her rest and check after some time

and its time for you to check engine oil level, viscosity and how is it
when you changed the engine oil last (how many kms done after last engine oil change)

long trips some times leads to shortage or reduce the life of engine oil

so change oil and check it out

after all if that sound still repeats consult nearest SVC

do you have any other city close to your place
by the way let us know your town / city name
      thanks MSN for reply
yes i emptied the petrol tank, took petrol in one liter bottle and then filled the tank with this......did it two time.......
      same result 32 km/l
sound is also OK, idle rpm is 1.4
engine oil replaced just before 200 km at service station.....though it has become dark in color..........

      i live in srinagar, Uttarakhand...........
but i still love the bike, sometime it feels nice to be the only one having Suzuki GS owner in town......

Some other manufacturers are offering vitamins for bikes; vitamin L to Z as remedy for all problems. Real magic potion.

Am living in bangalore, never know any thing about your state apart from its name
Brother their are Nooks and corners in GS big belly (petrol tank) which is deeper than the reserve pipe depth
so try to load one liter petrol from the bottel after it hits reserve and count from reserve to reserve again

This is what i have for you finally....... Please read below

Yes,it is true..........and its shocking when we pay double the actual price for real performance bikes circa Hayabusa or Vmax or even a GSXR600 or the R6 and a whopping 3lac for a good 250cc.Hence it is clear what creates the envious market for the aftermarket junk you mentioned.

While 2-strokes are still run in a cleaner and a much better Europe, our unusually environment conscious country has phased them out...........leading to a bigger aftermarket and 4 stroke below 250cc trash market revenue.

Performance mongers has no other option left, either buy trash like a junk addict or sit in a corner living a commuterish life and no two-wheeler life style.

Take 200 – 300 ml of petrol in a separate jar and connect it directly to the carburettor after drying it and ride the bike in your usual style and through the usual road. This jar used to check mileage is available in the service centre of any bike or with a good mechanic. If not available, you can make one, using an old saline glucose jar. No other method is reliable to check the mileage - reserve to reserve or full tank to full tank.

The mileage you said cannot be believed, even though the roads are the worst. Do as I said and let us know the result. Don’t be frustrated. Everything will be OK.
(Reduce the cold engine rpm to 1000 - 1100)

Definitely understand what you meant, my dear friend. But I am always in the side of the common man, not the performance monger. My experiences repeatedly remaind me to be so. There is no reason to change my mind and thoughts.

But there is big “may” in my words, which you may not have noticed. That is used because I am not sure about it as I have'nt tried it.

Whats your definition of common man,Sir ????
What I understand everyone is paying 60 bucks or above for a litre of fuel.......one who rides the Splendour and also the one who rides the Fireblade.

Okay you are having a mayhem but would have loved how you could mod a stock air-filter,anyway........if you are not obliged to share........then I cannot find the help in the logic there

Its not just the words from Abdul,

just look at the shape of the tank and i am sure their are no hidden rooms but places where the depth is deeper than the depth of the place where the fuel pipe is attached to the tank

example front bottom part of the tank "the corner which is below the suzuki S logo in the front "

There is no petrol kept unreachable in the front corner of the tank and what we see from the outside is not the real tank.

But, a small portion of the fuel having sediments, water, mud or other dirt, most of which we get through the fuel itself is kept in the tank as unusable. It is common in every vehicle. The tank is not empty, even after using the last drop of fuel through reserve pipe. There is a small amount of fuel – more than 1.5 Litre or so – left in the tank, kept, as unusable for the safety of the engine.

However, at times when this deposits increase and some of it come through the fuel pipe, there will be engine problems and, before it, we will have to remove this deposit by cleaning tank using high-pressure water and air, after detaching it.

This is not the reason for the infamous 'false reserve'. As the tank is huge, the difference in the height or top end level of the pipes is small. Tilting the bike will increase the level of fuel in that side and will fill the main pipe again and this fuel is enough to ride for a few more kms. The waves formed in the tank when we stop the bike too can cause it. This is what we call the false reserve. The actual consumption of reserve fuel starts from the first time.

That is the main reason why the R to R mileage check fails. This too is more or less common among all bikes.

Sorry for the long write up. The others will happily kick me out. Lucky that I am out of their reach.

It is true that the 2 strokers pollute less than 4 strokers...only if maintained properly..
If you are keen about better engine breathing ,...instead of K&N you can try adapting Car's paper air filters... A lot of ingenuity is required in this..but if you try,the rewards are there for the taking.Since I don't own a GS I am at a loss to tell you specifically how to do it for a GS...but I am in the process of adapting a Lancer paper filter for my KB 100...I am taking out the element carefully and using it in place of the Foam filter presently used..You may try a Santro or some Car's element which you can see for yourself and decide....Innovations are hard to think and harder to achieve.
