    First impressions

    Pulsar 200NS-

Its a big bike with a good build (a first for Bajaj IMO). After mounting the bike, the first thing I noticed that the console was very similar to the GS("Inspired?"). The bike started after a long crank and the next thing I noticed was that the exhaust was sounding like it had something blocking a part of the airway. After some hard throttling and braking, I can say that the R&D team has managed to get rid of the vibrations and put in some good brakes. 80-0kmph stopping distance was impressive. Now moving to the section where all the action is supposed to be, PERFORMANCE. The 1st gear was the only one that impressed me. This might be a subjective opinion but I feel the in-gear roll-ons from 3rd gear onwards feel much punchier on the GS. Personally I feel that the bike can attain a higher speed due to the larger displacement engine but if given a better body, I feel the GS can stay at the pulsar's heels. Another thing worth mentioning is the rider stance and comfort. The riding position might be forward biased but is fairly comfortable but the suspesion is a little harder than the GS and if riding two-up, riding over bumps make a loud thud. On the flip side, the handling is good.
Well What a coincidence, today I took a TD(short one though) of Pulsar 200NS and boy I was impressed!!

Yes the acceleration in 1st gear was good and to my surprise I didn't feel any vibes till speeds of 60(couldn't go beyond- bangalore traffic).Revved hard and it showed no stress/sluggishness. I could sense a slight hint of vibe somewhere between the rpm range but its very very negligible.
Clutch and gears were spot on and precise.
And a special mention to the engine refinment. Kudos to Bajaj for finally making a refined engine. Yes the refinement is almost in the leagues of GS(I still find gs more refined) but compared to previous bajaj bikes its very refined.
For my stance(5'11'', ~90 KG), i was very comfortable on the saddle. Very comfortable seats. Since coming from GS i didn't feel the weight of the bike. It was quite flick-able.
And regarding Breaking, its very very good and spot on. No nervous moments.

I sat as pillion for a while and oh boy its quite high(as with GS) and i did feel some vibes. Perhaps the only thing I didn't like in this bike is the placement of grab rails. I couldn't get a proper hold so felt a little nervous and I was in no mood to hold onto the rider

Overall I am very much impressed with the Bike.

Ps: No I was not looking for a change in my ride..I love GS. I just wanted to TD the bike which is receiving such praises from all around.

No I am not looking for a change right now or for next 2 years atleast. And by the time I start to, I believe Indian 2 wheeler market will be bombarded with many options in 200+ range. TO name a few : Bajaj Pulsar 350/KTM 350

And I don't consider NS to be a cheap replica of KTM. In-fact I like the conservative styling of NS more than brutish design of KTM
Personally I feel NS is more suited for me since I am not after neck-jerk type acceleration and prefer a mature acc+handling.

And regarding similarities/Dissimilarities between the two, you can refer THIS
Ps: These are my personal views and you have full right to have yours
these are segmented bikes , i personally fill GS is gel to ride in higher speeds in 80-110 kmh though we rarely go to these speeds in regular commut than 200 ns /ktm/r15 /cbr 150/250 which may have better performance figures due to engineering( & price), can we ride continuosly say 4~6 hrs on any of these

Both of you are commuters not racers
for a commuter user bike performance is 75% based on how we maintain it

You have your own thread to advertise/ praise/ brag about your bike and I request you don't fill this thread posts relating to that.
Leave this aside yaar , let this fellow have little fun we too need a change , its nice to see GS in limelite(it truely diserves) and people comparing bigger (even cbr 250/150r , r15 , dazzler) & advanced (with miscelleneous features only) machines with 4 year old 150cc which had no major upgrade like Honda unicorn. sales of GS is picking up very steadily due to reliable FE and almost zero maintanance.

Present GS is already too simple , the main reason people ignore while purchasing 150 cc , it was FZ , dazzler , cbz's steal the show when GS was launched.

This doubt is because we hear stories about replacing parts with worn out ones. Here they may perhaps have adjusted the clutch cable play; nothing more. Ask them to readjust it.

New clutch feels linear engagement while starting from standstill , do you feal SC guys removing your clutch (suppose in good condition) and replacing it to old one . its tedious job, they have to remove kick side casing , clutch plates are not expensive and should be in stock with SC as its major ( wearable)consumable though over a longer period after oil filter which sits within engine gear assembly. please elabrote what are your feelings while drivivng , changing gears compared to previous experience, ther are other parts along with clutch plates in clutch assembly.

Clutch action feels different- The clutch action is noticed after pulling the lever past 50% level.

Gears get stuck while changing (gear indicator goes blank) and sometimes get stuck in false neutral or jump from higher gears into neutral. Chain is adequately tightened. Clutch action is not the same upto 50% engagement. I don't slip the clutch much but it feels like the first 50% of the clutch play isn't doing anything.

That is simple. The mechanic has adjusted the clutch lever play. Ask him to readjust it. The false neutral you mentioned is common in any bike as in GS and is mainly due to incorrect gear shifting. Next time, press the lever a little harder.

I have tried SMDs of much lesser price before converting my bike to full DC but didn’t last more than a few hours. The reason, I guess, was that it was connected to AC from the RR. Some of us like Dr. Arul and Magesh are still using it without any problem.
