    Welcome to GSpian family.....

Good to know about your riding experience, but a bit jealous with the mileage you got(my first mileage was 30.42kmpl). I hope my bike will also perform like this some day.

Since you are new and might want to maintain a record of mileage and monthly spendings on petrol, here is a doc I had created http://goo.gl/oJ3cd hope you might find it useful, just copy it and fill it with your data from the beginning.

Though, about your over heating question, I can't tell without a measure or actually feeling the heat from your bike, how much hot it is in comparison with my bike, but you can have a test drive of the bike from someone else you know, which might give you an idea whether the heating on your bike is more than others or not. Still you can raise this question in your first service, and let the mechanics handle with it.
Thank you. Thanks for the link too, but I've already seen the doc. I've been following this thread for nearly 2 years . GS was the bike in my mind from the beginning but I was confused at the starting as there is very less number of GS150Rs on road compared to the competition and now that is a good thing ! "We don't go with the crowd, we are special !"
Mine is the only GS in our area.

This is one of the most active threads on xbhp and I gathered confidence to go for the bike blindly after reading ownership experiences from this thread. Thank you to everyone for the reason . In love with the bike

Few of this changed after first service. The engine heating has reduced dramatically. Its still there. But maybe after a few thousand KM on the odo I will shift to full synthetic oil. That might reduce it.

The hard upshift is gone now. Rarely, during the shift from 2nd and 3rd will give a thud sound. But strangely, sometimes from 6th gear it automatically downshifts to 5th at around 60 KMPH. Not sure what the problem is. Need to check up soon.

As for the mileage, after first service, it has dropped to 46. Need to get this checked too but I am not finding time to go to the SVC.

But the bike has become very smooth and is very comfortable.

Congrats to you on the good purchase again.
      Thank you .

Good to know that the problems reduced after 1st service.

The bike is very comfy. I am 6' tall. My earlier ride was an activa which was not at all comfortable for me and it used to give me back and elbow pain when with a pillion rider. So my primary need was ride comfort.
Mileage was the second concern. Now a bit worried with drop in your bike mileage after 1st service . Hope SVC will rectify the problems.

Yes the Speedo Sensor is on the Front Spoket.

I noticed it when i removed the spoket cover and chain cover for cleaning.

I accidently started the engine without fitting the spoket cover and found the KMS on the speedo remained 0 even when the tire was rotating at top gear

Guys, the speedometer is connected to the rear wheel, and I am sure of it(wanna try, put your bike on main stand, turn on the engine, put it in first gear and rotate the rear wheel, rest speedometer will tell), but I don't know what sprocket it is connected to....

          • @gagan: The sprockets drive the rear wheel. Even if you remove the wheel and chain and then run the engine, the speedo will give out a reading because the sensor is mounted on front sprocket.

Hi harish, even I'm getting this thud / click sound when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. It doesn't happen always. I think this happens only after riding for some time. When I went to SC they said it is common in all GS. But the point is it was not present in my bike previously. Please let me know if you get any updates on this when you visit SC

Cheers! I am 6.3 and comfort was my primary criteria

As for the mileage, its probably because the SVC guys screwed up my carb settings without asking me. I will mostly go today and see what can be done.

Sure bro. If the issue continues, we will have to use the route as 'fadeawayraj' and shoot a mail to the customer care.

Got it bro..... actually the image of sprocket didn't clicked my mind when I first heard the term, then after looking at the image I came to know its the gear like thing that act as transmission to the rear wheel via a chain. Thanks for the update.....

                    • Update from my side on mileage issue.

I went to Apple Auto at BTM and told him before first service mileage was 56. After first service it became 46. Kindly make some adjustments. Then the guy replies sir this vehicle will give only 45 - 50. I persist saying before it was 56 and now its 46. Then he says yes sir I agree. That was new engine. So only it used to give so much. Then I explained him how the new engine gives less mileage and more heat and how as more miles are clocked, mileage improves and settles at a figure. Then he said this is big vehicle sir, so only. I said no I will not buy that. It used to give me 56 now I want that. Finally he said ok sir yours is at 2300 KM now. Second service is at 3000, that time I will connect this to a computer and adjust it. I say, second service is at 3500 - 4000 as per manual. Then he shows a sticker under the seat which says 3000. I left the place.

Here is my conclusion. Apple Auto BTM has a bunch of clowns for service. They have absolutely no idea about the bike. Need to find a different place. Probably the one at KH road where they sell super bikes too.

                      What say guys?

                        Harish nanba,

Since we're calculating the FE by R to R method it'll not give accurate FE.,
Even the approximate FE still varies a lot in many bikes..
I used to take average for 5lts of fuel, and I'm getting 53-55kmpl consistently for riding speeds of 70kmph and occasional 80kmph..
Sometimes it shuts off for the avg of 40kmpl itself too so I put to reserve., If I again turn it to main it'll run further. This is due to the false reserve ,

If you dont get helped by other SC too, then tune it by yourself...

Just put two dots with cd marker, one on the carb screw and other on its outer wall of the carburettor.. second dot should be just above the 1st one ,making it as a reference point...

With this reference point, try two different settings to calculate FE.,

                        1. Rotate the screw slight (not more than 5mm) in Clockwise direction..Ride the bike and calculate the FE for an average of 500kms.. If the FE is lower than now, then you should try the second one..
                        2. Now move the carb screw to the reference point and start rotating to the counter clockwise direction. Check the FE.

At any of these setting FE should slightly improve.,

                        All the best..

I did at APPLE auto BSK. I have a dozen of my past services there itself, even now i do there, Only reason is its walkable distance from my office. Couple of months back there was no booking needed for service, Now past 2 - 3 months i have to book my vehicle for service before a week itself, if i need to get my vehicle same day back.

Regarding their service, Its only average. I had complained on suzuki website many times regarding mileage(35kmpl), rust, vibs etc.. they wont respond, Finally wrote them a mail saying i would go to court and will sue suzuki. Same day i got call from apple service ,manager to bring my vehicle, My bike received 2 days of VIP full service and 2 rounds of mileage can test with pillion and without pillion...i noticed 5 - 6 supervisors were working on my bike, it was awesome

Right now i am getting about 45kmpl in city. (330kms on 530rs of fuel). Before i was getting like 35kmpl.

If you feel the service is bad, please write to suzuki, Let them do the grunt work, thats the only way we can make them work. Only Repeated complaints will make them awake.

Thanks thala! I will do this once I get some time. Right now my weekends are kind of completely booked.

But the same style of driving for 5 litres of fuel used to return 56. Now its 46. Do you still think its the false reserve thing? If its off by one or two, then I agree. But 10?

                            • Service centres

The previous owner of my bike got most of his services done from some service centre near Wilson Garden. He mentioned that he tried quite a few of Suzuki's SCs but wasn't quite satisfied with the quality of work done. He said that they are well known for their servicing. Have to book a slot in advance.

Does anybody have any reviews on this particular SC?

Cool, you've got a good mileage in the city...... Mine just ran 312KM for Rs 500 fuel(70.91 per L)....... Hope the mileage will soon improve or else my pocket will run out of money
