I mean, if you travel 1km at a speed of 40kmph (mark your starting point) and then come back to the same point at a speed of 80kmph, you'll find that there is an added .1 or .2 km in the trip meter. So odo does not show actual distance on high speeds, which explains the consistency in the mileage we calculate since we rely on the odometer's calculations, but if we consider the actual distance we travel, the mileage will be less.

Guys, I've confirmed what I had found earlier, the distance shown in the odometer varies for the same stretch on the road and is proportional to the speed of the bike.....

It might be because the position of the speedo sensor.Originally posted by Gagan0123 View PostGuys, I've confirmed what I had found earlier, the distance shown in the odometer varies for the same stretch on the road and is proportional to the speed of the bike.....

Quotas do!

Yes, the speedo sensor is in the rear tyre and I guess, the rear tyre slips a lot on the road when we push the engine hard.Originally posted by vikhyath View PostIt might be because the position of the speedo sensor.

One more member to the GS family. Got my white GS150R on this 17th, evening
. Happy with my selection. Covered 250 km and the only problem I noticed is that sometimes up-shift is very hard after covering more than 10kms continuously. Also the engine heats up very much. I guess these cannot be considered as problems as its a new bike, right seniors?
Currently riding the bike keeping engine RPM below 4.5k and speed below 55kmph. Checked the mileage by reserve-to-reserve method and got 56kmpl. I know this may not be accurate but still more than 50kmpl was the figure I wanted

Welcome to GSpian family.....
Good to know about your riding experience, but a bit jealous with the mileage you got(my first mileage was 30.42kmpl). I hope my bike will also perform like this some day.
Since you are new and might want to maintain a record of mileage and monthly spendings on petrol, here is a doc I had created http://goo.gl/oJ3cd hope you might find it useful, just copy it and fill it with your data from the beginning.

@nikhithchandran:
I guess you were the one who called me for GS150R support...... Well I should tell you, this is the page where you should be asking your questions(this is a very active community)......
Though, about your over heating question, I can't tell without a measure or actually feeling the heat from your bike, how much hot it is in comparison with my bike, but you can have a test drive of the bike from someone else you know, which might give you an idea whether the heating on your bike is more than others or not. Still you can raise this question in your first service, and let the mechanics handle with it.

Congrats on the new White GS! I also had the same experience. Hard upshifts, engine heating and mileage of exactly 56 KMPL when ridden at 4.5K - 5K RPM.Originally posted by nikhithchandran View PostOne more member to the GS family. Got my white GS150R on this 17th, evening

Few of this changed after first service. The engine heating has reduced dramatically. Its still there. But maybe after a few thousand KM on the odo I will shift to full synthetic oil. That might reduce it.
The hard upshift is gone now. Rarely, during the shift from 2nd and 3rd will give a thud sound. But strangely, sometimes from 6th gear it automatically downshifts to 5th at around 60 KMPH. Not sure what the problem is. Need to check up soon.
As for the mileage, after first service, it has dropped to 46. Need to get this checked too but I am not finding time to go to the SVC.
But the bike has become very smooth and is very comfortable.
Congrats to you on the good purchase again.

Yes,I'm planning an upgrade from Slingshot(But the poor Resale price is holding me back )I tried a friends six months old GS, the braking is similar to SSS, You need to grab the brakes hard to stop it which leads to hand pain in prolonged stop and go traffic(and NO bleeding doesn't help. Its the character of the disc, svc people are helpless)Originally posted by rharish90 View PostIs there anything wrong you find with the current set up?
Use a pulsar Disc like you would use a GS,,,,,,,,,,you'll be lying on the groundInvitation link to join Zurker Beta, "A social network which you can own"
