A idiot guy plowed his bike into my front disc. Would probably have gotten injured if I wasn't at a standstill and the guy hit anywhere but the front wheel. Anyway, handle and disc is bent. Any idea how much fixing the disc is going to cost me?

PS:: Spares will be frequently needed for problem creating bikes, though it's not in that league.. So you'll be rest assured that it wont let you down.. Only the critical spares will take some time to arrive (that is the case for all the bikes).Originally posted by zulu2627 View Post1.The bike originally seems to have an engine balancer technolgy when launched causing the smooth engine which every one have appreciated. But read that in the 2012 model they have removed this and have given SJCS(suzuki jet cooling system). Is this correct...? I am used to the smooth engine of the unicorn, the test drive vehicle seemed to be bit harsh. Has any one driven a 2009 GS150R and 2012 GS150R and found the smoothness to be different.
--- Only diff in engine side is the altered gear ratio for better pickup.. Both balancer shaft and SJCS are present in 2012 batches too..
As far as I know smooth engine is considered with reference to vibration., And the new batch bikes are much refined than the earlier version..
Only the exhaust note(sound) is little louder in 2012 model compared to that of in earlier bikes. It also give the feel of power it has.. But in 3k-6k rpm the sound is different and it feels gliding through the air. I'm over exaggerated here..
2.How has the bike been handling for the past 3 years now... Read about rusting/spares issue/poor service..I guess they must have improved over 3 years..
---I've been riding it for 7months as of now.. And I handle my bike very well and so it does well too..
The only rusting problem (critical area) in GS faced here was at tank mount and walls and that was till 2010 and early 2011 batch bikes.. The problem is no more present in the bikes manufactured after that..
3.Has the mileage dropped from the begining..??
--- Depending upon the riding conditions and habit, mileage is subject to vary in every bikes.. I'm getting a constant 55kmpl for an average riding quality ..I used to ride b/w 50-70kmph normally with mix of City & Highway..
Please advise as waiting to buy one...
--- Surely ,you'll not have second thought after buying this bike,if you dont expect this bike to perform like R15's
...
My humble request would be to you to go through this thread from the 1st page.. Spare some time and get to know this bike..
All the best..
Ride Safe.

Oh that could be unavoidable if we're not involved in the accident.. As you said it's done by an idiot, nothing to be surprised..Originally posted by chiron View PostA idiot guy plowed his bike into my front disc. Glad to hear that you're safe without any injuries..
Couldn't able recollect the exact price..Handlebar will cost you around Rs.300.. Dont know the price for Disc.. Might be cost around the same..
Check for any wobbling at the front wheel..

Thanks for the response. We both have the same issues.Originally posted by Gagan0123 View PostI don't have any idea about what causes the thud sound and how to reduce it since its totally random and comes and goes whenever it likes......
Yes I did mentioned about that during the service, but nothing was done about it since the only thing server center guys did was change the oil and give a complimentary wash to my bike......
About heating problem, well, if you stop at many red signals, it will heat up, since our bike's engine is air cooled, it needs constant flow of air to cool off, so turn off the engine at signals..... rest assured, if anything happens to engine due to heating, it will be replaced anyway by the company as the bike is in warranty.....
about mileage, last one was 44.25kmpl, here is a detailed list you might find interesting: http://goo.gl/oJ3cd
I agree that its an air cooled engine. But most of the bikes in India are air cooled. They do not produce so much heat. Lets see how things pan out after clocking a good number of kilometers.
I really admire the way you have maintained the spreadsheet. Its amazing that you actually note things down every day and upload it here. No matter how many times I see, it never fails to impress!2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

Even i own Gs150r but that doesnt mean we should not try sling or others.
I will even try hayat.
ASS people say all suzuki vehicle have cylinder head noise, so if we say access is smooth he said it auto scooter but in bikes its there.
So test drove sling and its engine was noise free and good gearbox (no thud and no false neutral).

@gmagesh14:Buddy, about the oil change, I've noticed a few things, like when I start the bike in the morning it sounds a bit more than it used to sound...... but after riding about 2 to 3 kms, its actually quiter than before........ now looking forward for the 200km mark you mentioned...... I hope to get this performance a bit longer.......
Congrats buddy......Originally posted by zulu2627 View PostBooking my Bike GS150R tomorow.
Buddy, about the heating part, if I don't go beyond 90kmph, bike don't get heated up(in a 15 km drive I do almost everyday).......... if your bike is heating a lot below that speed and less than that distance, please contact the service center and ask them to find the cause........Originally posted by rharish90 View PostI agree that its an air cooled engine. Thanks for the appreciation buddy...... I keep track of almost everything(just because I can't remember things for long)......Originally posted by rharish90 View PostI really admire the way you have maintained the spreadsheet. First of all, ride another GS and check its condition. Then check the air cleaner, carburetor plug gap and engine oil level of your bike. Ensure that the rear brake is not biting while you ride. Try a good xxW-40 SS oil.

I dont see any engine heat up problems in my GS. Last year summer i went 600KM in 11 hours. I didnt have any heating issues with the bike.Originally posted by Gagan0123 View PostAbout heating problem, well, if you stop at many red signals, it will heat up, since our bike's engine is air cooled, it needs constant flow of air to cool off, so turn off the engine at signals..... rest assured, if anything happens to engine due to heating, it will be replaced anyway by the company as the bike is in warranty.....
Please check with the other GS to compare the heating issue else ask SVC to check them the issue.

The reason you didn't see any engine heat up problem in your GS was that, you travelled 600KM..... well, the problem usually starts appearing when you constantly drive with full throttle or you don't stop your engines on a red signal(highly dense traffic and no air flow at all).......Originally posted by pavan_cin View PostI dont see any engine heat up problems in my GS. Otherwise even I haven't seen any heating problem.....
