Otherwise even I haven't seen any heating problem.
So the reason of your bike’s overheating is not a design or manufacturing defect of GS. All the bikes – especially the poor air cooled bikes – engine becomes hot if constantly run at very high speeds with WOT where the maximum amount of air and fuel is taken in.
When we stop the bike, no air flow is there around the engine to disperse its heat. This too is common in all air cooled bikes.
It is not a defect of your bike. All the GS owners are facing this problem whenever they ride. And Maestro, I guess, was at high speeds while doing his saddle sore on GS and his bike survived this heating.

    • Friends a few bits from my side.

After first service my bike developed a strange nose in chain. The sc told its due to tight chain and will be ok after few days. But after three/four days the noise remained and the bike used to loose speed consistantly. If I apply clutch@ 30kmph it drops to 10 within few meters.
after some persistent pressure from my side they agreed to take a better
      Look.

Seemed that the front sprocket was faulty.

You can see the weared out sprocket.

they changed it under warranty as this its very unlikely in a brand new bike 'bout a month old.

Thanks to the main sc hooghly suzuki and the sub sc- vishnu motors my baby runs butter smooth and the free run is great. For testing I took it to 80 and applied clutch on a open road. It kept on rolling. I had to literally apply brakes to stop it :-)

It's a great machine. And you have to "earn" it simply owning it does not make justice.

        Srijit,

Be careful while you give your bike for servicing at that service centre.

It is a usual practice in many SCs and this is why I always ask to do the normal maintenance works yourself.
            Srijith,

I am almost sure that they have replaced the entire chain and sprockets set of your bike with an old one.

              • Cancelled booking of 150cc king.

Sad to say but cancelled the booking of GS150R...
After the recent price hike just did simple calculation
'I will be riding around 750 km per month considering the mileage of 55(gs150r) i will burn around 13.63 ltr of petrol and for servicing (135+135km i will be burning) 4.90 ltr total 18.53 ltr, While on riding other company bike i will burn around 16.67 ltr(considering 45kmpl) that means i will be saving around 1.86 ltr of petrol'

it does not mean i am cancelling due to 2 ltr of petrol but for every single penny part problem i will have to travel 270 kms.
After talking to svc they said spare parts will be arranged in 15 days that means i have to travel that 270 kms again.

That it will burn my pocket as well as my time and will reduce my love towards great bike.

now search of finding another bike starts again...

                    Hello Manas,

Go as per your liking and do take time to select the apt one for you,

at last you are the one who going to use it and your wish list is important that what 365+ people likes.

the bike names you quoted here are also similar to GS150 R only they are not far exceptional in giving mileage or performance or maintenance blah blah blah... all it depends up on how you maintain it.

for your info 80% of all the said bikes components are manufactured by the same local spare manufacturing unit.

in other word all the above mentioned 150 cc are meant for 150cc power commuter segment.

do consider the next fuel hike, petrol price may reach 100 rupees with in next 2 months, so consider a good 100 to 125 cc bike

If there is not service center nearby for the bike you are purchasing, no point in purchasing it as you'll have many difficulties afterwards......

You can look for 100 / 125 cc bikes as they will serve your purpose and are cheaper to run also services are easy and can be done through local mechanic which is nearest to your convience , can try HH splendor / passion , baj - platina/disco , tvs star, which are quiet adaptive in rural -semi urban areas. if you still orient towards 150 cc , spare parts issue will be there again as these bikes are not common in your region no dealer would like to maintain inventory.there are occasions when common consumables parts are not available for bikes like pulsar-rtr-unicorn- cbz in semi urban areas. but at the end you will not regret for your decision as all products are compatative lead by gs 150r.

Can you list out certain spares which are common consumables , unless and until you encounter an accident and damage certain parts beyond repaire . most of parts are common to all bikes( oil , sprk plug , tyres , cables!!, bulbes , fuel) , apart from bajaj were parts are available locally ( these bikes do require regular maintanance and heavy servicing & repaires at regular intervals and is favourite with local mechanics for this reason)you will have to wait for parts to arive for other makes like honda and its clones, by the way were you live in Nanded , suzuki should have there dealer in this region.

Even i do not have service center nearby (this needs to be defined) i hope most of the guys following this thread do not have SC within racheable proximity , mine is 55 KM , need to plan in advance atlest by a day.
what difficulties will arise afterwards , whats the use if SC is nearby and service is pathetic like most hondas ( no spares available when we need it most that too with popular models like activa/unicorn), or bajaj where everthing is available nearby but you have to regularly keep on feeding from your pocket.
I have witnessed some milkmen using there GS 150r for milk deliveries as they arive from long distances(FE being one reason apart from robust built) in shirdi and using since 2 years. no SC nearby by atleast 150 kms . this being one reason i didn't think twice while booking GS

                            • Problem is that when the svc are few an far apart and the bike continues to have good sales (not to mention the access which seems to be selling really well), there will almost certainly be a decline in quality of service.
