Buddy, now 300km mark has been crossed, and the bike is getting smoother with every KM I travel, the loudness of the engine has reduced manifolds and the acceleration has also been increased considerably..........

I guess those guys might only be driving downhill the entire time and took the bike back on the top in a truck.

That's a very good news to hear about..

So I think it's only my bike allergic to other grade oils..

Have a great ride with GS.,

        • Rains have started in mumbai , my bike is experiencing first showers after scortching summer , do we have any measures to take care for preventing rusts thought there are very little parts prone to rusting ( no anti rust please), water entering switch gears , tank etc.

          • Thanks Bro
details provided by you will help me alot in selecting my new bike.
I am expecting atleast 50kmpl in not more.

I have tested my bike during 3 rd service by bottle test 100ml covered 8.8 kms on trip meter , that is 88 kpl ..immpossible but proven. if ridden very causously @ 40-50 kph on 6 th gear on straight road without any twist on throtle , no cross winds , this should reach 70 kpl approx again impossiblity.

Dry the bike and apply oil over the metal parts and wax your bike., they will help upto certain level temporarily... Repeat the process when oil is washed out..

              Simple but effective..

This bike will easily deliver an avg of 50kmpl for a normal riding of speeds at 60-70 kmph.. Anything above or below is in your hands only..

I'm getting 52-55kmpl consistently, I neither a slow rider nor a fast or rash rider..

Strike out FE from your check list and check other things which suits your needs or not...

You will get more than 56kpl smoothly , GS loves smooth driving and its delight to glide on roads .50 kpl should be fine for insane driving with gs.

i would be applying WD40 on rustable parts , which i have used on my previous bikes , more parts were prone for rusting in those bikes like rims , spokes, silencer , suspension , handle bares , saree gaurd , carriage , all had crome plating and wd 40 was very effective . i never used antirust coatings which destroyes chrome finish.
Only worry is silencer part , though powder coated may tend to start rusting .

                    • Hi Guys!!

Hello guys..i am a new member to xBhp and this is my first post.
I got my black beauty around 2 months back. I am just loving it.
Had a couple of small problems now and then like "swing arm noise", "gears getting stuck", "fish tail skidding on wet roads" etc.The latest one was slipping of gears & gear indicator going blank.
Had to go to service center a couple of times and they took care of the problems pretty good i must say .
Well the problem i am facing now is the ignition going off all of a sudden automatically when the engine is cold during ride.
I am going to explain this problem to service center guys on my second service which is due next week.Any suggestions on what could be done till then? will using choke for cold start and giving sometime for the engine to warm up before ride solve my problem?

                        Hi Guys,
I would be going to book the GS150R in a day or two. I need your help.
Are there anythings that I need to check when I place the order or take the delivery.
Should I change the tyres to better ones since the stock ones are prone to skidding in the rains?
What oil comes in loaded while delivery? Is it mineral? If not, where can I get mineral oil?
                        There are umpteen questions.
                        Any advice is welcome.

Good decision dude. You are not gonna regret it
Nothing as such to check while placing the order if you have done a good test ride and satisfied yourself. However check the bike thoroughly before taking the delivery.
Changing the new tires won't be necessary unless you are planning to really take on wet and slippery roads very often.

After a 30-60 min run on my GS150R, the rear ally wheel heats up. The vehicle has run about 200kms. Is this normal...? Or does it go away after some kms on the ODO..?

                            Thanks

                            Zulu

Its b'coz of the tight rear brake.
Keep it bit loose so the wheel can rotate freely and also vehicle brakes properly.

After the service they will have tightened it and this causes it.

It seems you are extremely anxious about the sounds from your bike. All the engines make sound as there are a number of moving parts in it. A completely silent engine is yet to be designed.
The sound you hear is from the auto decompression valve. Accelerate gradually and if you hear that sound again, just downshift.
The mileage you get is excellent and if you like keep the bike in the same good condition, avoid all unnecessary repairing.
Knowing the correct valve clearance will surely lead you again to that insane local mechanic who said there is no decompression valve in any other bike than GS; I am sure. Keep away from such morons who spoil the bike.

Not taking the bike to local mechanic nor will i mind about the engine noise since service engineer has said its normal and bikes under warranty.

Last and final question about engine sound, does the bike sound like pulsar after 5.5k rpm or above 80kmph? (pulsar kind of sound but not so loud)

Welcome to XBHP and hearty welcome to our GS family..

Those problems are usual for a new bike, Glad your request/complaints are neatly sorted out by your SC.. I wish everyone the same..

Regarding the ignition OFF, check the idle rpm after running 5-10kms ,if it's less than 1500rpm range then adjust it to match 1500rpm, you can refer 6-24 of Bike Manual..

Note:: At cold conditions bike will struggle to keep the idle., It's normal..

Check for any scratches/dents and other quality issues before booking and taking delivery.. That'll be enough..

Regarding tyres, depending upon the place you live change it accordingly.,

For a normal commuting purpose, it wont disappoint even a single bit..

OT: This is the same tyre which comes in Karizma/cbz/unicorn for a long long period..

Till 80k,if you give the throttle gradually the engine/exhaust sound will be same as like at the 50kmph speed.. But if you ride it like a racer, sound will increase since the engine will work hard to reach the rpm quickly than normal..

Sound is not like pulsar or rtr,. It's something like 1st gen Fiero....
