I don't rely on the full to full method, since the tank takes more than the capacity mentioned.Originally posted by animeher View Post^^^ Yep, FULL to FULL
Any other way?
I rely on the reserve to reserve method. This is what I do:
I fill in an even amount, say 10litres, as soon as the bike comes to reserve, reset the tripmeter, then run it till it comes to reserve again. The moment it reaches reserve, divide the no.of kms.by 10&I have the exact mileage reading!

"AS SOON AS" ??? That means you carry 10 ltrs. in a can with you extra every time or miraculously your bike comes to reserve near petrol bunkOriginally posted by Sarvajit View PostThis is what I do:

Hehehehe, petrol bunks are not that tough to find, are they? I fill at Indian Oil, which is there every km.or two. Taking into account that much of variation would still give the correct mileage, wouldn't it?Originally posted by kumarprabhatn View Post"AS SOON AS" ??? The idea is how to calculate the mileage buddy, I found the reserve to reserve method most accurate. Though we cannot calculate the exact mileage, it will be very close.
If you really wanna calculate the exact mileage, it is done with a measuring can with 100ml.of fuel after the tank has gone completely dry. I wouldn't advise doing that on a fuel injected bike though.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Ya... I have opened the throttle many times crossing 6k rpm. I feel vibrations on foot pegs after crossing 80kmph. I have touched 105Kmph till now. I too feel that the engine noise changes after 70kmph.Originally posted by Augustine09 View Post2. Kept the rpm range at around 4.5K for 5-7 kms... Tried to raise the rpm to 5.5K and was touching 70Kmph. Felt some sound in the engine as i began to open the throttle more and more.
3. There was a point of time when I tried to cross 6Krpm and touched 85Kmph, the engine was crying?? roaring?? I dont know how to say but the noise it produced was too much worrying for me. At that point of time I had a doubt if this could cross 100KMPH ever
. Also I did feel some vibrations in the leg rest. BTW I also had a pillion rider at that time[does this matter ?].
4. Felt little bit of engine choking. There was no reply to engine choking problem posted by Alkemyst and myself earlier. Anyone???
And about that choking thing. I too can feel it on straight roads at times. Have to report this during my second service

@Choking prob
When accelerating, say at 3rd gear we are crossing 4Krpm, sometime the bike gives a jerk as though its gonna come to reserve even though it does not. I feel that either the petrol supply at that point is not uniform or the spark plug misses a fire. I'm not sure.
If you remember I asked about some advices regarding the trip this weekend to my home town in my GS. Please suggest me the DOs and DONTs.

and if you are asking me ... m not sure thou
i read your previous post
you said its 130km.........
then i think its no big deal pal....
even if u ride at some 70 kmph or 80.... u ll reach in something less than 2hr... considering you ll be riding on a highway....
just make sure you have required amount of petrol ,water and some light eatables with you...
you never know if you got stuck in traffic..... you may need that
and besides that.... check for your front brakes fluid ... any oil leaks visible
any foreign material on your tire that could puncture it.. if found remove it
carry your papers and helmet with you
check out for oil level in the oil tank
someone would laugh at this and tell m telling to be over cautious and after all some points are completely not needed as its a new bike ....
but if i would be u... i would have done all the things mentioned
cheers and best of luck
ride safe
EDIT : forgot to add... riding gears would also be a good need i think
atleast i advice all to have knee and elbow pads with good boots minimum so that the major and important body parts are not injured
any other additional would be optional

So, did you go to that Place to get the Radium Work done? You can also get the Number Plates done from him. He has some nice designs.Originally posted by animeher View PostI am looking for either orange or white stripes for my orange steed.
Even i calculate Mileage using the Reserve to Reserve Method. Generally, i fill 100 or 200 Rs. Petrol. But i have observed that my Mileage is not consistent always and sometimes it's very puzzling.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostI don't rely on the full to full method, since the tank takes more than the capacity mentioned.
I rely on the reserve to reserve method. This is what I do:

Like during the last 2 Fills of 100 Rs., the first time it ran 150 Kms and the second time, 80 Kms
. That makes it a Mileage of 66 and 35. I am sure there won't be so much variance in back to back fills. Probably the second time the right amount of Fuel might not have gone in. The Petrol Pump is a very well known and Reputed Pump and i have been filling Fuel from there for my Bike and Car since a very long time.
Hey, even i have experienced the same Issue. Don't remember the Gear and Speed but the Bike does give Jerks sometimes as if it's gonna come in Reserve. I got my Mileage Calculation wrong once bcoz of this. So nowadays i keep on riding till it gives continuous Jerks and then switches off when coming to Reserve.Originally posted by Augustine09 View Post
