Yesterdy it rained in chennai. For the first time, my bike got wet in the rain. Today morning as I was wiping the bike, I noticed water present near the fuel tank mouth. There is a place where water could stay. I was able to see through the narrow side of the feul cover. I wanted where exactly the water was and opened the fuel mouth only to find drops of water going into the tank. I was able to see the drops inside the tank....

I've seen many of you guys riding in rain, have you ever noticed that

Then I checked the feul knob. I it was well shielded that nothing could go in. But due to the fact that i opened the tank, some drops went into it. Is this a real problem to worry about ???? What damage could this cause to my engine.?? I was planning to take my bike to home town tommorrow [If possible today evening itself]. From next time I'll never open the tank till the water dries by itself.
Fuel tanks are made in such a way that water doesn't seep into them. If in any case you do need to open a fuel tank which has droplets of water around it, be sure to wipe them away before opening the fuel tank lid.
As for the couple of drops of water, they will remain on top, as water floats on fuel&as you fill up, they will be mixed up. They should not cause a problem to the fuel flow or running in any way.
If you still wanna get rid of those two drops, here are two ways:
    1. Park the bike in direct sunlight&keep fuel tank lid open for a few min.
This will cause some fuel on the top to evaporate&alongwith it the water droplets too
    2. If you can see it on the top (provided the tank is full), use a clean cloth, roll it so that it becomes pointed. Push the cloth into the fuel tank&dab away the water droplets. Be sure that the cloth is not dirty, else your fuel will get contaminated.
All this said, I don't think you really need to worry about a couple of drops of water!

Water and petrol have different densities my friend! They dont mix, the lighter stays up while the heavier stays down.

Agree with the rest of what u said
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Yes, the water will still stay on the top, but hopefully the sunlight will cause those 2 drops of water also to evaporate!

        • it actually doesnt matter if few droplets of water fall in to the tank. They get evaporated very soon. No need to keep under sun too.

BTW: Are they arny more Rusted tanks reported, Last time count was 2 for me while going through this forum.

And, Asked already, Can any owners please post the gear ratios with primary and secondary reducations.

                • One suggestion to all. In rain, make sure you cover the speedometer part with cover, while riding or parking in rains. Because after a constant exposure of falling drops, there may be some electrical problems, and moreover, the glass gets scratches by constant wiping off the water. So for monsoon, keep one plastic bag with you so that you can cover the speedometer assembly quickly in rain.

Hey, isn't the packing supposed to be the same for digital&non digital speedos? If not, then I think you guys should purposely wet it in the rain&go to Suzuki to prove this.
As for the wiping part, I always keep a dirty cloth in my bikes, but only to wipe the seat. I wipe the speedo with my bare fingers, or handkerchief.
For cleaning also I use 3 clothes-one really dirty one for the underbody area like chain cover, mudguard etc.where small stones etc.are there. I never use that cloth on the painted surfaces. For that I have yellow cloth no.2, which I make damp&wipe off the dust. Finally I use dry soft yelllow cloth no.3 to remove the water marks&make it shine! After a while yellow cloth no.1 becomes no.2&no.2 becomes no.3&so on.

Some of the GS owners from Pune have done it for 80 bucks.
Go to JC road. Last time i did stickering for the ZMA here. Check out with 2 to 3 shops and try to bargain. Even i to stay near Rajajinagar, i will enquire and let you know if i come across any cheapest shop.

                        • Hi guys,

I've been reading this thread for some 3 days now, believe me I am soooo interested in buying this bike that I've read almost every post of the 143 pages here

I live in Mira Road and am a newbie biker. Have been practicing on my building friends Passion for some time now, but not yet confident to take the bike on main roads.

Anyways, I have no ideas where to buy this bike from. There is this Malad Suzuki and there is this Thane Suzuki. I think I will have to buy from Thane as I will come under MH 04 but Thane Suzuki is not listed on the official site of Suzuki.

I've got no biking experience, all I've done is a lot of research of current 150cc bikes on the net.

FZ is out of question as it does not give a good milage
Only contender to GS is Unicorn. But I see that almost everyone has a Unicorn. Want something different. Putting my hard earned money on GS , fingers crossed I hope I have a good experience with this bike. Will by buying after 1st july once my salary comes.

Thanks to all the owners here for sharing their experiences. I know just what to look for when I go for this bike
                          1. No rust on tank etc...
                          2. Will surely check for that welding thingi
                          3. Need to see if I feel that the lights are adequate for me or no.
                          4. As i said i am a complete noob and so I dont know if I'll be knowing anything abt vibrations on specific ranges
                          5. Once the rains are over will surely get those radium rings on. (I will choose GREY one)

                          Thanks Again Guys.
Will post once I get my bike but till then will keep following silently.

The mouth of the tank is rusted. It is not easily viewable unless & untill you carefully check the tank & run your fingers along the mouth.
