  • Today had a closer thorough check...the front susp. rubber cladding has cracks on the underside on one arm...finally almost took it out and found susp. metal rod was still wet...the rubber cladding is great for protection against rains & dust, but if water gets in its gonna be water container The bike is extremely dirty and console has dirty water still on it
Jus Had a checkup at my local but learned mechanic...He was extremely happy to lay hands on it, was saying it looks pretty chunky...finally he found nothing wrong with susp. so did I ...He wanted a test ride, gave it, and he returned jus praising the bike and its FEEL Finds susps. just perfect He asked about price, mileage and examined the engine sound ...

Well I drove it through all the gears and bumps and bike is acting just like a GS ( with the tractor soundtrack and flickering pilot Xmas lights )
ANd dunno how but found an orange GS (579?) in front...tried to catch up with it and then suddenly another brand new black GS (2 fz were behind it and pillon was staring at it ) was cruising down the north ernakulam flyover and boy it does look extremely stealthy and potent from rear They just zoomed away with me crawling in a lane traffic jam

Have decided to give it 4 wash (75 bucks) to that guy after being promised he want be taking another test ride...He was Cheerios !!!

    • Nobody cared to respond my query .. wah kya dosti nibhayi hai !!!

Im giving my bike for 2nd service tomorrow. Thinking to adjust suspension to Level 1. Has anybody done that and found difference ?

one more thing, I filled 100 rs petrol and my bike came to reserve on 100.6 km, so I calculated mileage 100.6/2 = 50.3 but before fueling I rode 12 km on RES. What to do of this 12 km while calculating mileage ?

Discount 100ml.usage dude-that much remains in the pipe itself!
If you wanna be precise, divide the 112.6 by the exact no.of litres you filled in (I donno the rate there), you'll get your answer.
IMO your bike is giving you about 50kmpl average, which is stunningly good.
As for the suspension, the 3rd position is the best AFAIK. Posn.1 will not be able to take potholes at all-will bottom out too soon&Posn.5 will be too hard&will give you a stiff back in no time!

@thefalcon: The click sound is in almost all bikes with a front disc. It contains a switch under it which has a connection for the tail lamp to glow when the brake lever is pressed.

            2. Never go at around 60 in any unknown(1st time) "smooth road" in Kerala :
Dunno 4m where but a massive hump lay right in centre with massive pot holes on either side...no time to react went right on it...scooter instinct got me pressing pressing both clutch(oops not rear brake) & front brake and here the surprise:
I felt nothing on it...the front sus took the impact with no reflux and then horror:
The front wheels had gone airbone( hit the hump on 6th around 50) for ~2 sec, come down on a strip of tarmac, heard a hell raising scrreech (disc was pressed) and dunno how(gotta be gs wt + fact that steering was still straight) but was on a front wheelie & stable but then rear went on tarmac, had lost hold of clutch the rear came down, a big jerk from engine & stopped in another muddy pothole with fr tyre skid...at standstill i fell left with it on top ...the only person Mr.Thomas in that surrounding came running... But miraclously i was fine(on outside inside was utter vibs ) with just a slight palm scratch & pain there and a dirty wet pant ...The GS had no scratch as it fell on me at standstill...
Just Returned in night with worst pouring rain(hits the face) and absolutely isolated scary road thinking fr sus ought be kaput...any headlight is useless here and so was my visor & rcoat...bike worked fine with both susps acting good...reached home feeling absolutely miserable (knob prob, had a acci, body was fully wet 4r 2hrs, found out the rucksack wit a lap inside was dripping wet and 4got my wallet in a shop 80 kms away)...Nway checked the front sus, apart from the usual creaking sound its fine (no oil leak/bends and ride home was smooth...) Now finally home is really sweet home
Note: If i was on an activa, the fr ought to have sheared off with me doing a human wheelie...Somehow my guardian angel was protecting me hence thank God for watching over me and thank bike makers for protecting the bike

And yep now its an 'interesting' day...Btw will post pics as soon as time permits...Cheerios

Bro....thank God...you did not have any serious injuries.....and also your GS is safe.....
It is always better to be careful.....not only in unknown roads...but also in known roads.....
I had a lot of experince with such minor accidents...that too in known roads.....recently...about 2 months back..I was coming on the usual office route....and suddenly....a small.boy of about 3-4 years came into the road running...and mine being a Pulsar....I applied the disc brake suddenly...and to my bad luck.....there was sand on the road...left over by numberous constructions in Hyd....and as everybody knows....how much sensitive the pulsar disc is.....and the next second I found myself on the road on right side..with my elbow bruised.....and my new jacket (worth 1300 Bucks ) torn at the elbow.....my palm survived as I put on gloves while riding...

Anyway the lesson is ride safer and slow in cities...and always be careful and keep a eagle eye on the road....

            Happy and safe riding bro....

Hey Bro...I heard the same too from some mechanics....I generally give my pulsar servicing at the CASTROL BIKEZONE as I do not like the bajaj service ....and some of the mechanics are really very good there....

And as i was discussing with one of them.....he told that the suzuki bikes are really good.....even though they are not much popular.....the technology they use is very good he said....
and also he said that he has serviced only one GS till now....as the bike is still new...people give it to suzuki service centres only....
he was all in praise for the bike.....he told it had one of the best gear boxes....he even went ot the extent to tell that the gearbox was better than Uni....well I am not sure about it though.....
also he told me that the suzuki always ahad a very good gear box...and lot of other praises....and he strongly recommended me to buy the GS...although I have made up my mid already....to buy it.....

              Anyway..sorry.. I tend to go on....like this.....so bro...just take care....drive safely....

Yes! I have recommended it to my Dad's friend (junior at old company) who has come back from U.S. He will be buying it in a day or two.
He was using a Suzuki Samurai before he left abroad&swears by it to this day!

1 shop in Rajaji ngr were asking 300RS.
                  stripes where exactly ??
if its the tape around rim then it should cost 200 max.try JC road. many bike mod shops over there, so prices will also be less and u can bargain.
exact shop even i dont know.
JC road is supposed to be the best place in bangalore for all mods.
have u considered yellow stripes on the rim ??
if i had a black bike i would definitely put yellow. personal fav colour.

Like someone else said here, it is possible to put a helmet lock in various places, but I don't prefer leaving the helmet on the bike. I found people wiping their hands in some people's helmet paddings after lunch!
Moroever the padding gets dusty, so I carry it with me to my desk at office. If I need to leave it at a theatre or something, I always keep a helmet bag under the seat, so I can put it in&sling it around my shoulder.
You can actually get these helmet bags for free-the helmet shop guys get one with each helmet&don't give it to us just coz we don't ask for them.
For the radium stickers, I think light blue would look good.
                  k. thanks. next time i'm going to fill 30-31(for both singles n doubles).
Wiping their hands on the padding.!! thats sick..
i dont think this happens in my college though.
i park in a relatively good place. where people dont even sit on other bikes, most of the time atleast.
about the radium stickers, even i think blue is the only option(for a blue bike).

I think my bike's mileage is really low.
with (5litres shell normal+whatever comes initially(about 0.5)) my bike went to reserve at 98km odo..!!! thats about 40 mileage

                    • My bro-in-law bought Bajaj Discover 100 cc bike, which is DTS-Si v2.0 claims to be the most fuel efficient engine in the world. Ok, here the point is it has 5amp battery and for my surprise was all DC setup, means even headlight connected to battery, but u can switch it on when the bike is on.
We have 9amp battery in GS and dont have all DC setup, those flickering parking light really steals the look of GS

Bajaj even installed maintainance free battery in that bike, really bajaj doing lot of things now a days- hats off to BAJAJ

Considering the GS tyres are 2.75 front&100/90/18" rear, you can fill 30&35 happily in them. Ride quality would be firmer (good with pillion)&you will get a bit more mileage. Cornering wouldn't be that great as the contact patch will be less, but I don't think you get your knees down on that one!
About mileage, are you sure it is giving you 40kmpl? I don't take into account whatever came with the bike-it is just about a few drops to reach the nearest fuel station. Have you considered that out of the 2.5 lts of reserve capacity, there will be a usable reserve quantity also mentioned. Do the math again!
Please check about Shell petrol though-I think their normal petrol is 91 octane, which is equivalent to Extra Premium (91 octane).
With an engine compression ratio of 9.35:1, the bike should run on normal petrol only, 91 octane is for bikes with CR 10:1&beyond.
I think you need to check this again with a proper tab on the fuel quality as well quantity.
There is a thread on how to measure mileage, please check that.
I use the Reserve-to-Reserve method&both my bikes give me around 43kmpl.

Hey Bro the MF batteries are really good I heard.....
Amaron is giving maintainance free batteries for especially bikes....wit a 5 year warranty.......and a 9aH battery costs only 1500 Rs....that's really good I suppose....

Can anyone of the owners please let know ....which battery is used in the GS....is it Exide??? is it maintainance free...?? Please let know...

If it is not MF battery...can we change the battery in GS...???? and convert it to DC....???
I am not much good in these things...please any experts clarify this....

                            Thanks in advance...

i think the calculation is correct. the reserve is 3.1 lt according to manual. when i filled 5l petrol the total in tank would be 5.5l. in the main its 2.4l. so the 2.4l got me till 98km odo. its correct right ??
anyway i'll fill again n check. this time it was pretty approx because i didnt know the amount in tank initially.
also i'm thinking of riding in main again and check if its actually come to reserve. the jerking due to lack of fuel wouldnt harm the engine right ??

We can easily change to a MF battery. Converting to DC is a fairly involving job but it can be done. Unless you are going for HID, leave it as it is.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!
