how old was that guys bike ?? in km run and months..
seeing this pic i think we have to consider the possibility of that bike being immersed in sea water for atleast 1 hour, as sea water speeds up rusting process.

someone please reply to my previous post which was :
"hey does anyone face neutral to 1st gear problem ??
sometimes at signals, when it becomes green my bike just refuses to shift to 1st from neutral.. on the indicator the 0 disappears and 0 reappears again when i hold clutch and shift down !!!
only if i move the bike front or back a little it changes to 1
                why is it so ???"

Ya Bro...surely I feel it would have been immersed in sea water....

Regarding your problem.....it is not much of a issue....once you start riding the bike....the gears change easily......but when suddenly you are stationary....sometimes the gear does easily mesh into the 1st gear....

It does not happen everytime...but sometimes only...it is not a problem....for example....when the bike is not on....you put the bike into gear....and when you want to change it to neutral you have to move the bike to and fro....a little....if you have rode any bajaj chetak scooter you will know.....

                  • Rusting pics are shocking. I still can't believe my eyes. Though that guy has raised some foolish complaints. Nobody will buy this bike now. Future is dark. This thread can be closed now.

                    • This bike is doomed. Seriously guys, if these are the pics of a new bike (which has not been immersed in sea water!), then it won't even last for a year without all sorts of issues cropping up! I thought the problem was only in the tank, but now the whole bike reeks of poor quality workmanship.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

                          • Heck... that was a masterpiece... ready for a museum slot.

Our 1987 model CD 100 that we used in Vizag till 2004 didn't have even 20% of the rust this bike has. Well, our house was so near to the beach that all that was in between was a road and some 50-70 meters of sand.

Not even out TVS 50 rusted in that situation.

This should be a 100% defective piece.

                            One thought.
Suzuki plant was shut down for a while before the GS launch - either for maintenance or for strike. Am I right? Cannot recollect so well. Can it be that some bikes were made and were standing in the parking lot all this while? That can cause some rust on the bikes but definitely not so much.

                            • This shocking (rusting story) !! Never expected out of Suzuki, in protest I remove GSR Avatar on my profile

When I bought my new Achiever last week (2006 model) I was bit nervous about rusting as the dealer told me that bike is in garage since last three years 4 months w/o any care and told me there could be minor issues like rusting/dents etc etc..... I was eagerly waiting for washing to be completed to everyone's surprise the bike was shining like freshly minted bike out of factory, tiny scrach marks on tank, mudguard and a dent on chrome cover on exhaust. I did thorough inspection after dealer completed his fresh PDI with FULL MARKS, I didn't find a single rusting spot !! It was as good as a month old bike. Since this is rare for a hero honda product (being unsold for 3+ years), entire showroom employees got curious and assembled around the bike while I took delivery (some of them didn't even know the model name !!).

Suzuki has to learn a lesson or two from HH in delivering solidly built bikes !
