I'm pretty sure that the 'tak' sound is not from the chain. you have mentioned that it comes even when switching off the engine. So assuming that you are vehicle is not moving when swtching off, the chain has nothing to do with this sound. I presume that this is the 'clank' sound that we have discussed some time back due to the electric motor that is connected to the engine shaft. This motor starts running when the engine speed reduces and synchronizes with the rated speed of the motor. If you notice the rpm meter, you will get this sound somewhere between 800 and 1200rpm. while the vehicle is stationery, the idling rpm will be close to 1500rpm. When you engage the first gear and start to move, the rpm reduces on load without any extra acceleration. With the engine rpm reduced, say till 1100 the motor starts running which produces the clank sound. This sound will come even when you switch off the engine[I have explained this scenario some time back in this thread; do read for better understanding]. To avoid this sound, you need to have an increased rpm. So while moving the bike in first gear, try doing so with rpm around 1500-1700 and you should not hear this sound. Still if you hear that sound, then it is not due to the one which I am explaining and you might have some problem and get it checked at once. Sorry for my long explanations but this is my understanding.Originally posted by Jithus View Post
It dosent matter with the kms running bro... I have done 1-2 kms per day and 150 kms per day; the problem still remained. So you can try to explain to Mr.Sibish in suzuki india that you have choking problem and also to Mr.Vinod Natarajan. having done that, explain in simple terms to the service centre guys that the fuel flow to the engine is not smooth, the engine damps for a second or two and things like that. So if you are servicing today, better that you ring them up and get things done.Originally posted by thefalcon View Post

What is drain period ??Originally posted by thefalcon View Postwhere do you buy the engine oil. since gs150 needs 1.1l of oil and all companies come with only 1l bottles, do u have to buy 2 bottles or something.
i guess castrol power 1 plus will be a good oil. its synthetic and those oils have drain period of 8k-10k kms.

Thank You buddy... As you said, I think the sound was comming when the RPM is around 1200. .I will closely monitor and will update you more on this.......Originally posted by Augustine09 View PostI'm pretty sure that the 'tak' sound is not from the chain. you have mentioned that it comes even when switching off the engine. Hey thanks thefalcon... there's 1 tiny spot of rust on frame. However its not visible.. u have to look very closely.. but i don't want that to increase. Thats why asked...Originally posted by thefalcon View Postjust make sure paint is not peeling off at any parts like frame or foot rest etc etc to be on the safe side. and anyway your warranty may not have got over so best option is to report to SC.
anti rust spray guess wd40 should do.6 Speed Cruising >>--->>--->> Flying In Heaven

Yeah bro...Originally posted by thefalcon View PostI dont think the mileage is due to usage. even i ride 20km a day thru b'lore traffic.that too thru JC road and siddhaiah road if u're from b'lore.
after 1st service my mileage did reduce to 35-40 for 250km but then all of a sudden it went back up to 52
without any servicing or anything. yet to figure out why though. may be because i stopped riding at 3k rpm and started riding at 4-5k most of the time.
is your bike's oil consumption more than usual ??(ask SC ppl. they can tell)
may be there isnt an air tight fit between the cylinder and piston rings
(unlikely for bikes that have run less than 20k kms but its possible)
The mileage figures r funny... I was at the service during C02 tuning...
It is suppose to show a constant reading, but in by bike, it varies drastically
Maybe i guess it might be the problem....

bro, guess yours, mine and maybe a few other GS owners in this forum might have bikes with inherent factory defects. the SC guys would know f#$%'ol about rectifying these defects.Originally posted by mathewsyriac View PostYeah bro...

Till date i have never got the same mileage twice, this is the state even after 2nd service. i'm just tired of cribbing about the bike, had it not been for the 15k loss on selling off the GS and another 15k extra to buy a new 150cc I would have got rid of this bike long back.

Hi All
Today i Met Mr. Vinod Natrajan - Service Head south of Suzukin in SMK Chennai.
He was so cool and confident about the bike, and was courteous though..
i had my petrol tank , Front Disc (brake), and Front Brake lever replaced .
The petrol tank and front disc had rusted and the front brake lever paint has peeled off..
He has assured thatt all our concerns would be taken care and my Front brake lever , Front Disc are specimen and are being taken to the factory for R & D study
I had reported about the mileage problem to him which ws between 40 to 45. However when we rode double the bike clocked 11 km for 200 ml meaning 55 km/ litre.. sadhikaara bike
From his attitude it was clear that suzuki is very confident about this bike .. Also think sales have picked up as iam seeing quite a few on the road in chennai...
anyways our concerns are being heard and taken care of..
In that way "SUZUKI IS FAR BETTER THAN honda"....
Mathew sir
I told Mr. Kalyan and Mr. Vinod that you still have the mileage problem at around 38/ litre.. think mr. kalyan would speak to you

the manual says 1l without oil filter, 1.1l with new oil filter and 1.4l for overhaul(engine opening)Originally posted by HydBiker View PostIt is Castrol Power 1 Racing 10W40 Fully Synthetic. Read about that in Engine oils thread and also check the alternatives.
And, the GS needs 1 liter engine oil when drained. The 1.1 or what ever is when you open the engine.
since oil filter has to be changed when going for new oil it will need 1.1lt.
so does oil come in 100ml packets or anything for the extra 0.1l needed ?
its around 8000km, but it may need top ups after 2k km if the level goes low.Originally posted by Augustine09 View PostWhat is drain period ??
if u were using mineral oil, then its best to switch to semi synthetic and then full synthetic. heard this procedure is better than directly shifting to synthetic.

so I missed it then. First off all, check to make sure if the SC guys are filling in 1.1L when ever the oil filter is changed. I doubt if they are doing that.Originally posted by thefalcon View Postthe manual says 1l without oil filter, 1.1l with new oil filter and 1.4l for overhaul(engine opening)

Yes, there aren't many options. Motorcycle Engine Oil is available in .9 & 1 L cans. You gotta buy an extra can and use it over a period of time for extra filling & topups. Else, just pour in 1L fully synth oil and add 100ml regular mineral oil.
nothing like that. switch to synthetic oil directly. topups would be needed for sure and I don't think the Castrol P1R is gonna last 8000 KMs in a GS150R.its around 8000km, but it may need top ups after 2k km if the level goes low.
