Thank you dear friend. I'll try my best in the next service for a replacement.

      • Poor service at Swargate suzuki, pune

Warning for those who're going to do service at swargate Suzuki.
Recently i had gone there for my first service the replies are as below:

        Q - Bike vibrates a lot above 4000 rpm
A - It's normal, any bike will vibrate

Q - Rusting at engine fins
A - We'll fix it with normal paint!!!!!!!!!! (he didn't mention this the sheet)

        The most funniest

Q - The headlight it very dim
A - If you push the accelerator it'll be brighter (Eureka Euraka!!!!!!!)

        • My 2500km Report

The last time i updated was when i clocked 1000kms and was due for servicing. Got the bike serviced and opted for the annual teflon coating scheme..paid 600 bucks for that. The guy told me that they had painted the rusted pins and i gave him a dirty look. If a pin was rusted, paint was not the solution. Anyway, my experiences with most indian companies in customer service has been pathetic and has always escalted to the CEO so didnt want to argue with the guy.

Now i could rip the bike and feel the power and not have to control myself within 4rpm...have been riding the bike around the 5 rpm mark since then (70 to 75kmph) and the bike has been responsive and steady. Had this problem with the rear breaks for a while where it would give this enormous grunting noise early mornings for a while. This is different from when water seeps into your breaks. That is a squeaking noise but this is the noise which you hear from some old trucks when they break. I had a good mind to go and ask them to replace it but my laziness and lack of time meant that i continued to ride with the noise for a couple of weeks and now the noise has vanished completely.

Had a 10 day idle period where i was not in town and had asked my dad to start it once in 2 days just to warm the engine. im not sure if he did that regularly as he had problems starting the bike with repeated kicks. This was aroudn the 1st week of october.

Now for the past 3 weeks, ive been riding the bike and it feels comfy. Made a couple of trips to south bombay from vashi and back and on a few mad occassions, had been riding the bike at 80-90kmph and wanted to check the mileage. I have just crossed 2500kms in about 2 months.

          Here are a few observations:

I dont bother much about gear changes (the ideal way) though i dont drag the engine on low gears also but i have neither used the economy or the power modes (the blinking white light is a cause of irritation to me) but i realise that on driving around the 5rpm mark consistently in city traffic gets me about 52kmpl (reserve to reserve calculation) and when i was doing 80-90kmph for a few days consistently, i got 47.5kmpl (reserve to reserve)....i usually fill up for 500 bucks on my credit card and assume that the reserve will set in around the 325-340 km mark (on 10litres of fuel) and with the reserve having 3.5 litres, that should take me through another 170-180 kms.

Another interesting observation. With the winter setting in, i expect more wor in teh morning while cold starting it and hence used to press the clutch and do some kicks (as someone suggested) but the last few days have been extremely surprising to me. Without doing anything, i just press the button and it starts in 5 seconds on a single click!!!! i thought at first that it must be a one -off thing but now its happening everytime everyday....hows that??

          Till the next report..adios

TPS has a very real application, since an engine needs different ignition timing when running at differently throttle positions. Specifically, while on part throttle it needs more timing advance then when at higher throttle. So the CDI module uses the information from the RPM/crank angle sensor and throttle position to determine how much ignition advance to use to keep the engine running at the best efficiency. If you have no TPS you need to run with less ignition advance always, thus giving less power at small throttle openings. With TPS you know it's at a small throttle opening and can use more advance, thus giving better power. That's also why a TPS can help with getting better mileage, it makes sure the engine runs at it's best efficiency as much as possible.

            Conclusion? (From my side: )
The switch just determines the rpm at which it lights up. No mappings will be changed, except for the riders gear shift mapping.

For real mode selection you need fuel injection. See hayabusa, it has modes, to limit power in the city. (It's not just fuel injection, there's more to it, but that's the most important bit.)
Wow... very nice explanation.. thanks mate. I agree with you on the FI part for more controlled mapping according to the settings.

              Hello ASPT,
Even I had my GS's 1st service done through Swargate suzuki.......i told them same issues as yours plus rear braking issue.....Also went to them twice without any appointment for disc brake noise and to check my battery when some acid drops had fallen on the chassis..........

I spoke to mr.Pritam on all three occasions and Mr.Micheal on the last occasion, Pritam was helpful he took my feedback as well as instructed the mechs to fix the issues. He certainly didn't give me any of those ridiculous explanations.

if they don't listen to you, make a complaint to suzuki india through their website. The Delhi people have responded back on quite a few occasions to xBhp members' complaints.

                    • I had reported the rusting of Tank to Dr.Rajkumar Road Suzuki One Month Back. Dealer response was slow. Everytime I visited, they kept telling next week, come day after tomorrow. Finally sent a mail to suzuki through their website. Within 1 Hour I got a call. I explained the problem. He told that he will call back in 1 hour after speaking to the dealer. Exactly after 1 hour he called and told that a new tank has been arranged and I can go and get it replaced.

Suzuki is doing well in responding to our complaints. Guys, if you have any problem with your bike / dealer, just send a mail to suzuki. They will respond very fast. Here is the link. Suzuki Motorcycle Corporate Office

It takes about three months for the Smart Card. Even I got it after three months. RTO Office is having initial hiccups for the Smart Card.
