Bro...I seriously recommend you should complain....to the Suzuki people...if required to the Japanese people also....

take pics of the rusting in your bike...and send them to the Japanese people...on the Email id I posted in the guy's mail...
contact the Suzuki India people and then the Japanese people...

If possible talk to that guy...Anil Patil....as he has given his number....and if the rusting is too much...you can ask for a replacement.....

no wonder that guy got his 100% money back...if you have nearly the same rusts....you can ask for a replacement.....

        • Hey guys even i was completely at the rust >>>

It definitely has to be a piece/lot that had the anti-corrosion paint treatment defective in plant...or the bike was drenched inside out in salty water (still how can tank get rust spots inside unless petrol had some adulterant)

Or it could have been some pre-production test bike that he unfortunately got (they are never complete in paint or performance)

          Consider my GS :

Had a hard scratched area on black silencer (like exhaustec) tube cap when delivered( + cracked tacho)...that scratch is still sparkling silver after my bike has been in the heaviest of rains and dirtiest of places till now (checkout my previous posts)

I had a thorough checkup of the bike today and am saying it again NO RUST anywhere on any bolt, rod, metallic pipe joints, hinges...

Furthermore am not experiencing any probs. with gear changes (except occasional downshift clanks) and today drove for 2 hrs at a stretch on traffic jam speeds and on highways...the bike is getting more smoother and is extremely stable

From what i perceive is that there is BIG QUALITY ISSUE in a certain lot (the bike u buy today can be from that lot...i chose the bike with the most recent date having full plastic coverings...yet it was somehow scratched)

I do have 02 Nova 115 that had the front fork loose 4m day one...its still same after numerous 'ALL OK' 4m the mechanics...its a factory defect and have NOT seen it other Nova 115 i have driven

Hence the rust problem ( note down chassis numbers. and compare to get idea of which lot) should be taken up strongly with Suzuki (they may want it hushed up as its could(& has) harm GS )

Do remember the Ford -Bridgestone war on explorer deaths (Ford knew there was a flaw in SUV design but put complete blame on tires) or
Mitsubishi brake failure scandals (top management was arrested for hushing up)
That why we have so many product recalls ( BL-5C Honda airbags, Mercedes seat over-heat issue...quality issues are always there in industry

When I bought my new Achiever last week (2006 model) I was bit nervous about rusting as the dealer told me that bike is in garage since last three years 4 months w/o any care and told me there could be minor issues like rusting/dents etc etc..... I was eagerly waiting for washing to be completed to everyone's surprise the bike was shining like freshly minted bike out of factory, tiny scrach marks on tank, mudguard and a dent on chrome cover on exhaust. I did thorough inspection after dealer completed his fresh PDI with FULL MARKS, I didn't find a single rusting spot !! It was as good as a month old bike. Since this is rare for a hero honda product (being unsold for 3+ years), entire showroom employees got curious and assembled around the bike while I took delivery (some of them didn't even know the model name !!).

Suzuki has to learn a lesson or two from HH in delivering solidly built bikes !

Bro...I agree the rusting is too much.....I also agree the HH quality is top notch....even today we can see....a 15-18 year old CD 100 running in top condition.....

But i was curious about one thing bro....why on earth did you want to buy a Achiever...that too which was 3 years old....kept in the showroom garage...???
there are lot of 150CC bikes...man....even the HH has..the extreme...and the Hunk...and there was always the ever reliable Uni....and even Pulsar....for that matter

I mean the Achiever is nothing of a legend bike...to buy a 3 year old bike...it was not much successful also....why on earth man...??? please....

            no offence meant...just for clarification....

Limited cash resources !! A Unicorn mill + xcellent HH svc reach + segment best mileage + segment best LET (max. torque @5000rpm) all for 42K (OTR, B'lore) !! It's Rs.500 costlier than Suz HEAT . It's for hard core traffic free/highway commuting not for city driving.

Great deal Bro....a really good one... I felt that once I read your post...ya it has a Uni engine..and you are getting it for 42K on road that too in bangalore...good deal....
I thought the bike was for the city driving....I never knew that the achiever was for highways....or traffice free places...

I wonder you will get any traffic free places...in Bangalore....

Reminds me of our flat parking lot ~10 yrs back...There was a new golden HH ambition and the new redesigned pulsar DTSi...remembered the former for absolute silence and no-nonsense look (with the commuter being of that sort) & the latter for its utter clanky gear sounds( heard from 4th floor) & then odd heavy design ( again the commuter being that sort)

                    • Okay folks, proud owner of a black beast that was ready with the sub dealer at Thane yesterday..i went to him around 8 in the night after office but wanted to be absolutely sure that the bike had no issues..so under the building lights, i inspected everything specially the tank etc with my heart in my mouth but thankfully nothing was there. Started the bike and just rode for 1 Km and it felt so nice and smooth..for a moment i felt like i was riding my brother in law's apache but then this beast is bigger than the apache.

The odo showed 50 odd kms which the rider must have consumed from the Vasai godown to Thane. the agent told me that i should not cross 80kms before the bike goes for passing to the RTO..what crap!! I guess in India rules are made so that people can make money from others who break them unknowingly so have parked the bike in a stilt in my building and covered it with the bike cover that the dealer gave me.

2 things, i didnt notice the light which comes on for changing gears - where do i have to fiddle with to see that light? Secondly, my eyes went to the rearview mirrors. While the left one is fit on the left handlebar right next to the switches, the right one is not on the handle bar but on the bar supporting the break..get it? Is it like that for everyone? I tried to see if it was fit there by mistake but it didnt look like so now im conscious of the fact that the left mirror is 3 inches closer to me than the right..i dont remember anthing like this on my pulsar...also the rubber bushing that supports the left mirror came loose..

Thats it for now..more pics and reports after i start using the bike

                      Cheers
                      Vijay

dont worry about service issues. Last year i took my Ford Fusion service issue all the way to the Director of the company and they gave me a 50% discount on a 70,000 bill. All this when the car was a 2nd hand one..let me know if you need any help

                      • Thats Gr8 buddy

The white LED blinks at 4500+ rpm in ECO mode with constant at 6K RPM

Me thinks u have to press 1st button 4 3secs, then use 2nd button 4 choosing ECO,POWER,None(no name) mode, again press 1st button to conform. PWR mode rpm blinks 4got...Btw its all there in manual... AM not sure about r mirror placement...never seemed odd

Since max. runnin-in rpm is 5K ECO is pretty good & very useful 4 me

Ok lets wait for his details. Except rust, this guy has made some foolish complaints like riding position, mirror, gear lever, gear ratios, etc.

Exactly what I was about to say!
I think the rusting case is genuine, but maybe that got him biased against the whole bike itself?

You are one real smart guy, Vipin! You took a right, balanced and well-thought-out decision. Congrats! I have heard good things about that bike. I'm sure you also must have.

Those arent foolish complaints in my opinion ... they are mostly true. No complaints as far as riding position or the ride comfort is concerned. But other than rusting there are many other complaints.

                                1. The rear view mirrors are no good. No matter how much you adjust them, still dont get a good view of who's coming behind you.
                                2. Gear lever - Heal shifter of the gear lever is unusually tall ... it does give pain when you ride in traffic which would involve frequent shifts. And sometimes when you try shifting gear using your heal, the gear dont shift properly, it goes into mid neutral.
                                3. Mileage - From what i have read here, abt 50 - 60% get a mileage of 50km/ltr. Whereas the rest get 40 or less than 40km/ltr. When i dropped my bike for 1st service i logged mileage not upto the mark as complaint. After the service my bike returned 50km/ltr for the 1st ltr of petrol filled. There after it returned 45 for the next 2 ltr's and now its presenlty returning 34km/ltr. I am simply overwhelmed by my bike's performance.
                                4. Gear shifts - Even after the first service the bike's gear shift give out a loud thud noise. They gear box is definitely not smooth & good as the RX which i rode for a decade or the unicorn.

I was so happy and excited when i bought the bike. But the bubble didnt last too long. While looking for a new bike i discarded TVS apache because of its reliability & build quality issues but i am facing the same issues on a bike built with the so called Japanese technology.

PPl can say that the above mentioned problems are one off ... no they arent ... it simply isnt one off. About 50% of the owners here complian about the bike. Those rust pix, colour shade difference in orange bikes, headlight performance and many more ... are not the mark of a good bike rolled out by a firm like Suzuki. My excitment for the bike is slowly dying out. If these problems persist probably me and many others owners would start regretting the purchase of GS150R. I would'nt deem the GS as piece of junk but its an ok bike with nothin special and definitely not a keeper. If suzuki does not take any steps to address these problems I for one would definitely not recommend the GS for anybody in future. To be honest if I am to get a good deal for my GS today I would not have any second thoughts abt letting her go.
