You have heard of murphy's law?.....If something can go wrong, it definitely will at the wrong place and the wrong time.

Your question can be answered by one of its corollaries:

Whenever a mechanic looks at your bike's problem it will be working fine.
Whenever you do, it will not.

        • Guys....I do not know if I am imagining it...please clarify....

When we are riding....in any gear...when the RPM comes to 3500 to 4000...there is some kind of vibration sort of thing in the bike....
It happens most of the time....does it really exist in other GS also...please let know.....

          • @ guru: is the vibration from near handle fairing? if yes, then many gs users here, me also, have experienced it around that rpm range. Its because of some nut\bush problem in fairing....just a minor irritation. Seniors can enlighten more on this.

Initially I am also faced same thing in GS. I think after 1st service it had gone. So inform sVC about while servicing.

              • @guru: Don't worry, its normal in each new GS. It is called resonance, and it comes exactly at 3500. It is felt at precisely one point only, not above or below that rpm. This will disappear by itself once the kms are munched.

Yes it is near the handle...I mean I feel it on my hands....But it did not feel like any fairing problem.....but coming from the engine....

Thanks guys....I feel better now... Yes Animeher....as you said it comes at 3500 RPM....just a bit here and there prob....its good to know it will not be there after some kms....
I know what a real vibration is like...I used to ride my froends RTR 180 for some days.....it has vibration from 4500 to 5500 RPM...and you can really feel it ...

                    Thats true Buddy
                    It happens everywhere....
I have also left my bike for about 4 days with the SC head, don't really know what he absorbed and did with it.....
I had taken a spare vehicle, same model... It was very noisy and very powerful when compared to mine. The best part is that it gave mileage around 51kmpl.....
I the case of my bike, it struggles to accelerate and at the same time worst mileage too

And if someone is going to suggest me about carb tuning or spark plug....
1:- The spark plug is new....
2:- Carb tuning, i have tried all combinations two services ago... Now running on SC tuned position...
Actually during last service, SC has replaced my Carb too

Ultimately, no one will replace things without an issue; so there is an issue for sure But they really don't know how to sort it out and what to replace.

For now I can only suggest that you go for a RTR180 mainjet and a paper filter of four wheeled automobiles, performance would increase on the top end.

The output increment would be marginal.........from 13.8bhp to 14bhp maybe, but thats all (and I think that would be enough for some true 120kmph )

Performance increment on 4t engines are really tricky,it is restricted by so many parameters.
Thanks for the reply mach bhai and one more thing tried to install hid in my gs but the place where i tried to buy that bulb didnt knew how to install the system and no one here knows how to do so...can u tell me any DIY for its installation?? and can our gs' 7 amp batt support 35 watt hid without coil rewinding and all??

As animeher said the vibes are due to resonance. The Resonance is a phenomenon in which a body vibrates to its maximum (natural frequency)when an external force is applied. In a bike, the stressed member is engine and in our bikes when the engine rpm is around 3500 rpm, the whole chassis resonates with engine .

Every engine produces vibrations but they can be suppressed by mounting a particular way in chassis. Thats what makes Japs different from, Indian manufactures. The intensity of vibes reduce as the engine gets settled. Even now after 12k km my bike gives a small tickling like sensation at 3500 rpm.

The same resonance is causing noise from the visor.

More than that GS is provided with automatic tappet clearance adjuster. Hence it is better to avoid opening a new engine unless there is any specific reason.
Change the oil or top up if necessary and wait. In my opinion, it is enough.
I hope so....I dont trust my SVC mechs (unless the service manager himself takes a look at it) enough to take their word for it. I'll go and have a word with him on this.
BTW, is the service manual publicly available?

                              • I had very little fuel left on the tank so today when going to office i filled about 2 litres of petrol....After filling the bike wasnt starting...i also tried in choke but didnt work...tried kick and self start for 20 mins but didnt work....then found a mechanic shop near by...The mech guy did something in 2 mins and bike was starting...He told that there was air block... Can you guyz tell me what he meant?

Also as 2strokerama pointed out., i also hear above 55 a grinding kind of noise from engine....Why is this ?
