As far as I am concerned, early 2009 batch is a different set.. And some of us are experiencing never ending issues. I am basically a Tech-Savvy Guy and have be interacting a lot with SVC to sort out the issues, no use at all...
Initially, they were very keen, now it is all fading away....
I own a 4 year Honda Shine too, but i would say it is in touchwood condition

Big Shame to see my bike, rust here n there, dull paint, multiple engine behavior, worst mileage... The worst part is that they have changed my number plate 3 times, still rusted....

Now, to the problem free owners mostly 2010 batch owners, we expect some support from u guys.. If u are not ready to accept our feelings, better please STOP commenting on these kind of posts.. Please........

BTW, now I have changed my attitude against my bike....
Fill it, Shut it and Forget it
But at the same time, petrol prices are going up....
Nice to see back in forum br.....I posted ur mobile no without ur permission.....To show others I am not kidding
Thanks for supporting And ur last words really worrying factor (petrol price hike) Even there are some hiccups in 2010 batches as i paste a message between me and Abdul RAHMAN(2010 model) who went SMK porur as my advice ,he told mr kalyan is kind enough to hear abt his bike ...and changed the CAM related spares which solves the big noise problem and mileage issue's ....
Plz go thru this and noted the things

Even I have bought the Suzuki GS150R bike. I have found out many manufacturing defects in this bike. I do not understand what happens to Japanese quality when this motorcycle is manufactured in India. There is lots of rusting in my new bike. Many other problems are there. I have taken this issue with Suzuki India & Suzuki Japan. Suzuki India may rectify this issue in coming week as Suzuki Japan as commited to me to resolve this issue on high.

Hope u pass this message to Mr srini(a GS150 owner)...who also enjoying "Drive me crazy" disorder

          • my bike is still not back to normal after my long distance speeding. There is still that grinding sound and it becomes very apparent around and after 5000 rpm. No dip in engine oil level which was replaced just 2 weeks back and run as low as 400 kms after that. Nothing stuck between external moving parts, chain or wheels. Fortunately, performance is not affected. Its awesome now, just soars to 7000 rpm(my limit for now). But the sound is bothersome. Before I approach SC on this, I would appreciate a heads up from you guys.

One more matter. This is OT....forgive me.....I filled up for rs. 200 at some BP pump along SH 17, when I was a approx. a litre below reserve. But bike hit reserve again after 40 kms!!! Earlier, I noticed at the petrol pump that the attendant who filled it jerked back the pipe a bit after some amount of filling, this made a slight gap between the feeding pipe and its point of contact on the pump gun. Coincidentally, the sound of petrol pouring in also slowed and stopped almost a litre before the 3 ltr mark although the meter was running. I was too preoccupied to think anything of this at that time. I think now that the either the machine or the hose had been tampered that way. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thats why i said custom made, some local mechanics at my place used to do modify bike looks just like how customer wants and i believe that would cost around the same amount

contact SVC before that just ask your trustworthy local experienced mechanic to do a test drive and he would tell you what exactly the problem is, by this way you will reach SVC with a better idea about the problem so as they cant play with you

By the way the bike in your avatar is too good to get best mileage

while u fill in petrol many things matter as to how much petrol u actually get:
                    like:
                    1. ambient temperature & petrol bunk tank temperature which are underground. gasoline evaporates like anything...
                    2. yes that jerking action 'll make a difference in fuel delivery through nozzle.
                    3. even if the attendant presses n releases delivery nozzle valve, u'll get less petrol as some amount goes back...

as a caution fill petrol early morning or late night, it will still evaporate; but at much lesser pace.
                    hope this helps

@mazaid: A litre's difference, that i experienced, is not possible through evaporation as I was riding continuously.....I didnt see him press the gun again either. It was definitely tampered....Im interested in knowing if its done the way I described....if jerking the hose is a possible indicator of tampering.

i doubt if jerking can be an indication as there's nothing related to tampering in it, he might have jerked it cos of some uneasy position of his hand or something....tampering IMO is not possible simply by jerking the pipe.
there are other ways of tampering n i know a few

                        • perhaps you can enlighten us on what to watch out for? But I will keep a look out for this jerking.....those people might have got smart after people started to watch the pump meters like a hawk.

dude that meter will turn just like a normal meter, it's the internal wheel that does the magic...also, there is a non return valve in the nozzle when its pressed n depressed while filling, quantity of the fuel coming out reduces or increases rapidly but change in meter is quite slow...this way we end up getting less petrol...

                            • might that non return valve have any connection to the gun-hose junction? maybe pulling the hose at that junction might result in some 'jugad' valve close (if somehow tampered that way)??? I dont know how those things work man....but I know that the guy didnt have his hand on the gun, it was on the hose, he made a jerk and my bike rand dry more than a litre, i.e. atleast 50 kms, before expected.

                              • it is possible..but another valve mechanism?? that is a costly affair. generally they don't do such visible tampering.
In your case did u see if he locked the nozzle lever...because petrol cannot be delivered without depressing that lever on handle and if he has not depressed or locked that lever in open position, the meter will not advance or rather should not advance.
also how much error could be there in your guess about 1 litre below reserve?
do not suspect the bunk unless you are very sure about your estimate, else you are unnecessarily worried. next time check with a measurement bottle. u will know if he's cheating.
my personal opinion about RtoR method is; it's not so correct. i prefer brim to brim. with ambient conditions almost same while filling n refilling.
reason is: when a petrol tank is near reserve there is a lot of vacant space in tank for petrol to vapourise. most of the fuel we fill vaporises very fast w/o our notice. apart from that while riding small amount of petrol keeps on going to carb through ON pipe, which results in false reserve.

if you need to know insides of a fuel cock i'll post a drawing here.
PM ur mail id to me. i'll send u everything related to petrol filling n stuff.
