Hi bikelover...well at present my jerking problem is solved....but I faced it 1 or 2 times in between....
but at present it is OK.....when I go for my first service I will point this prob to the SVC people....

Anyway at present the bike is running fine....the only thing I am facing is the starting problem...in mornings....
it does not start immediately...I have to put the choke on....start the bike....and keep the choke on ofr at least 1-2 min....
    then the bike switches off...
then it takes about 4-5 tries to start the bike....and then it starts...after that there is no prob....
that is the only thing I am facing right now....other than that the bike is awsome...

It was locked. By that jerking motion, perhaps it was tampered to cause the locked trigger to unlock. But the meter was running.

also how much error could be there in your guess about 1 litre below reserve?
Maybe 5-10% at most. I had set the trip meter as soon as I hit reserve.....so I sure its not more than that even considering the lowest mileage of 40kmpl. I usually make doubly sure if the fault is on my side before suspecting the bunk. R2R is good enough for andaaj....and andaj is good enough for this case.

most of the fuel we fill vaporises very fast w/o our notice. apart from that while riding small amount of petrol keeps on going to carb through ON pipe, which results in false reserve.
This is what I dont understand.....where does all that vapour go? It has to condense and drop back into the pool. Also didnt get what you meant by the On pipe loss....isnt petrol suppose to go to the carb continuously by the fuel pipe?

Anyway, Ive seen and heard of various types of cheating....this feels like a new one because nothing else was out of place.

            ----------------------------

@all: how much of our 3.5 ltr reserve is usable?

            • Hi Guys,
I am planning to finalize GS150R over Unicorn. I have taken test ride of both the bikes and both are great.
Just wanted to check on rusting issue faced by many in this thread. Does it still exist in the 2011 batch as well.
              Please advise.

The rusting issue is a very unique trouble, atleast I have not found it on my bike stil, though I purchased it in monsoon months and rode it in new condition on water-clogged roads.

But,few owners have faced it and has their rusted parts replaced by default, while on the other hand most owners had remained num about the rusting issue, they have not faced it at all probably.

Sega......I have no news from Saru,he seems to be too satisfied that he forgot to come here and share once in a while.

For now I can only suggest that you go for a RTR180 mainjet and a paper filter of four wheeled automobiles, performance would increase on the top end.

The output increment would be marginal.........from 13.8bhp to 14bhp maybe, but thats all (and I think that would be enough for some true 120kmph )

Performance increment on 4t engines are really tricky,it is restricted by so many parameters.

                      Hi mate....
                      Thank you for your concern..
Actually I have pointed out several many times...
And is very much similar to Abdul and most of us...
I do understand that no machine is fully perfect..
When i bought this bike, i had fully trust in the so called Japanese brand. Lot of them advised me not to go for the new launched vehicle. But now I am forced realize the fact..
Even a lay man can give comparison results, need not know the basics too....
As Abdul said, he had ridden Pulsar for about 6 years, but now look at the issues that he, actually we are facing..

Even the clutch and break leaver paint quality is very poor when compared. Fingers turn black after riding for few kms..

In my case, my riding distances are very short... Recently, i had to ride longer distances in the city itself... Now i notice some sort of knocking as i twist my wrist to accelerate, becomes worse when the engine is hot.

My worries are, by the time my warranty is over, knocking will be very much audible to the SC guys Then what am i supposed to do at that time

My concern here is; Suzuki and most of us are aware about the problematic batch; So why don't they just recall those machines and do whatever is necessary

During the mileage test, i get around 48 or at times 50kmpl too...
But during regular driving it gives hardly 40.. I have been trying to explain the multiple behavior of the engine, but no one has given me a rigid answer to it.. Maybe thats why mileage is also dropping..

Two years back, i had enough time to spend with my bike... But now since business got tight, and since there is no use driving all the way to SVC, i think it is better to concentrate on work rather than going behind a hopeless deal..

These are the problems you pointed out.

                        1. The paint used on clutch and brake liver is low quality when compared to other bikes and hence your fingers get black while riding.

                        2. Your usual riding distance is very short but now you have to ride longer in city. When riding this longer distance in city, the engine knocks when you try to accelerate and the knocking worsens when engine becomes hotter.

                        3. During the mileage test, you got 48-50 kml. But it is hardly 40 kml in regular driving.

                        4. The knocking sound will be very much audible when the warranty period is over and do not know what to do then.

                        1. Here, the blackening is not due to the paint; it is due to the reaction of your sweat and dust from the air on the rubber compound used to make the grips. A regular cleaning of the grips with a good quality soap or shampoo will solve this issue.

                        2. There are many reasons for knocking of engine. But, here it is not due to any of it. Check the engine rpm, adjust it correctly, downshift the gear whenever necessary, and accelerate slowly. Further, clean the plug and adjust its gap or, if necessary, replace the plug. Nothing else is needed in this case.

                        3. As all of us know, mileage depend many factors. Driving in a city is very different from driving in highway. So, in cities, we cannot expect high mileage. More than that, you did not mention how you checked the mileage in city riding. If it is R to R method, it is not reliable. Maintain the bike in good condition, get it tuned by the sc mechanic if necessary and try to refine your driving habits. This will give good results and this is the only remedy.

                        4. What you hear is not engine knocking sound. Engine knocking is entirely different. Hence, there is no reason to believe that it will increase when the warranty period is over. The expiry of warranty is common to every bike – to GS to any other bike- and what will we do after the warranty? If there is a fault, will get it repaired. If the Suzuki service centers are closed due to some reasons, we can approach other mechanics. There is no need to worry about it in advance, I think.

Is this the sum total of the problems your bike have? Strange!

Your plan to finalize GS is correct. There is no rusting issue now.

                            Rama,

It is not easy to tamper the modern digital meters of the petrol pump. A mere pulling or jerking of hose cannot send back the fuel to the container tank.

Besides, the taxi and auto rickshaw drivers are keenly observing the petrol pumps. They are united and strong enough to interfere.

If you are in doubt, buy 1 or 2 liter of petrol in a jar and measure it.

The R to R method is not and cannot be correct. Whenever you need to check the mileage, use the can/jar method.

The loss due to evaporation is huge than you expect. Remember that we are not riding continuously after filling small quantity of fuel. Our bikes are kept stationary for long periods, perhaps from the morning to the evening and after a short ride, throughout the night. The petrol vapors cannot condense inside the tank.

That is really annoying, and it happened due to the fact that many people who loves GS and targets the 150cc segment did not vote in time due to negligence.
