  • TT and TL

Having a puncture and driving on is disaster waiting to happen...and would strictly advice against it.With the temperature and the road conditions, micro cracks in tires are very common in Temperate climate conditions...add to it the pot holes, dug up roads, and sharp speed breakers..TL stands a poor chance of survival.

      • Hi guys,

Today i changed rear wheel tube to new and asked that local mechanic about tube sealant. He said me to buy a bottle and fill for both tubes. It works as tuff up tube. Is it good idea to do?

          • @ Guru

Congratulation and Officially Welcome to GSpian Community. I too have a Greenish Blue. I don't know if its because I had done a Teflon coating paint on petrol tank is tarnishing, like plastic surfaces loosing its gloss. Someone please comment on this if its because of the Teflon coating. My cousin told said something like this will happen on coating Teflon.

Thanks to you guys Sarvajit, Psr, Guru& Vishnu. Your discussion gave a clear idea about TL and TT . Since I ride mostly on Tarmac, never I felt a need for more grip. In my one year riding with gods grace no flat tires so far. So TT is enough for us.

But TL offers more safety as it wont burst suddenly like TT on puncturing.

Pls provide a link to support your statement.

              Animeher,

As per the information I have up to this moment, Michelin tyres are made of soft compound containing silica which provides best grip on wet and dry roads. Due to the soft compound, these tyres wear out faster than the Indian tyres which are made of hard compound. This hard material used in Indian tyres gives them longer life but lesser road grip.

The rate of wear may slightly differ fom the 1/2 life due to many other reasons but its life is very much shorter than our Indian tyres. But, considering the safety of the raider, Michelin and Pirelli are far better.

If you don’t mind, may I clear that the 1/2 life I mentioned was not about Indian tubeless tyres but about Michelin sporty. I am really sorry for being unable to clearly express whatever I meant.

Most of the information I have about anything is not from internet. As I have mentioned many times I am from a village where internet was not available up to the recent time. So, unable to provide a link in support of my statement. You will have to search yourself.

                Anup,
Actually I was mentioning the second part of animeher’s comment; about the tyre. Sorry for making a confusion. But what I said about the Michelin tyre is correct. Because it is made of soft compound it provides very good road grip but its life is much shorter than Indian tyres.

                • Since most of us ride at lower speeds, I hope this difference in grip wont matter to us. But since we have long monsoon season and roads are more dusty does this difference really make TL superior to TT despite having lower life.

you are talking about sealant like seelin liquid right ?..i thought of using that 5 months ago, but no one was aware of that sealant in this thread as well as in tyres thread...so, i couldn't come into a conclusion and dropped the plan..

Anup i think by choosing a good tread pattern like MRF Zapper C or Moto D wet grip can be assured.More than that it is knowing the Bike's and our limitation that will save us from a lot of grief. There is a saying that "The Nut behind the Wheel is the Most dangerous part in a Vehicle"

Its better to go with a spare tube and if possible puncture kit.
Sure Madhu bhai.. Even i was thinking the same.
The ride was super smooth.Cruising on highways is awesome. cant describe in words.I was maintaining an average speed of 70 to 90kmph with occasional overtaking at 100kmph for the whole journey. In ghats speed was reduced to around 50-60kmph.
Usually took breaks for every 60-70kms.. At one stretch rode for 100+kms non stop.Bike was smooth as before.Only thing i noticed was hissing[like a snake] sound from silencer. It may be due to moisture in air and hot silencer.

At that constant high speed got a mileage of 45kmpl..
While returning i got reserve in Tumkur.Filled for 150rs[2.40litres approx]
Rode at constant 50-60kmph for another 90kms.Now the trip shows 130kms from reserve and still running in Main.so mileage is much better at lesser speeds.

                        130kms in 2.40litres. and counting........54++kmpl

I cant believe my eyes what a mileage in
                          Local bangalore city drive

                          Petrol 1.55 ltr
                          Kms 95.3 covered
                          Mileage is 61.xx

Most of the ride is with pillon rides weight total is close to 130 kg

I cant believe it did any one experienced such good mileage with this weight on local drive.

                          • @msn1: I cant believe either. Youre very fortunate. I filled 2 ltr today after riding some 42 kms in reserve. I hit reserve again after some 25 kms only!
~35 kmpl.....down again. Suspiction is on local petrol bunk now.....dont fill at shell near iskcon.....now they are even tampering with receipts.

anyone knows any honest bunks in bangalore? Im inclined to think that BP can be trusted for now as they have newly installed machines in most bunks. No shell bunk ive been to is good. Never tried indian oil or hp on gsr.

Before suspecting the petrol bunks, check your mileage using 200-300 ml petrol in the jar available in the service centre. This is the only way to find out the exact mileage. Shift to the higher gears at the earliest possible, avoid the unnecessary usage of clutch and brake and try to maintain a constant speed. Try it today itself.

There are corrupt bunks but one cannot give 1 litre of petrol instead of 2. What will they do if someone buys petrol in plastic jar?

                              • hey I didnt say I got 35 kms for 2 ltrs.....I said I had ridden 40+ kms in reserve and then filled 2ltr then again hit reserv after 25 kms.....that comes to 35 kmpl. Ive can tested recently....its around 45 kmpl. So, what am I supposed to think now?
that bunk doesnt give in bottles......they say it may cause fire or some nonsense excuse and point fingers at manager and company policy and some other shit.....the other day even one police guy had a hard time filling in bottle.....thats enough in my books to blacklist them.
even the guys filling air pretend to be deaf and dont give a shit what pressures I want or dont even bother to fill properly. heights of taking for granted...
