As service is closeby why local mechanic give it to service at ASS let them change oil filter and the oil bought by you.

Oil filter change needs 100 ml more oil that svc will add and that little amount of svc oil wont spoil the performance as it mingle with major portion of motul

    • Done 590 KM's ride this weekend on Mumbai-Pune-Mahabhaleshwar trip. Excellent performence by this bike with great mileage figures, it wasn't given even a single issue.

This is my first long ride on GS, second service is due in this month end. Ride mostly on 70-90KMPH speed and occassionally went for 100+KMPH .

Should i still not take a risk and connect it to the Battery ?

Another thing, my Pass Light does not seem to work now. Is this Normal with a Higher Capacity Bulb ? I did not check if it was working before.
Price is independent of quality in case of aftermarket stuff. Don't take the risk

Even I remember my Pass light was not working when I fitted silverstar, but I guess it just took more time to fully glow. Sorry, don't remember exactly whether it worked after silverstar or not, as I have shifted to HID for many months now.

You can change the oil yourself. Buy an oil filter from the sc and change yourself. Above is the oil level of my bike with 1 litre of oil. The filter also was changed. So, I think, 1 litre of oil will be enough when the filter is changed and 900ml when filter is not changed.

Hope you made a careful pick of the bike, if from display pieces. Best of luck.

              -----------------------------

I tried 100 kmph today, if only for a few seconds. I was happy that bike was nearly vibeless even at those speeds at around 7.5k rpm at near WOT. I observed engine sound changes considerably after some 70 kmph......transitions noticeably to a high frequency mid pitch humming sound (atleast thats what it sounded like with helmet on)....that was pleasant as well as worrying...I dont know why. Wind was blowing opposite to me.....or could have stayed for more time. My 2 stroke used to max out at 90. Was a bit disappointed that I couldnt race a pulsar 200 with pillion doing 100+ but had to console thinking thats not the bikes fault.

My GSr odo reads 4500 kmts now, many times i have crossed 100 kmph speed. It comfortably crosses 100. only after 105-106 small wobble i could feel...
But for me such higher speed is not necessary so am very much happy with this bike..

I easily do a speedo indicated 110kmph with pillion weighing around 65Kgs on board..........and Pulsar200 is a weak bike too-weaker than the Pulsar 180 itself.Even Pulsar 180 with pillion on board runs out of breath if the GS150R is pushed correctly

If you were doing around 7.5K at near WOT......then you were not even around the peak power region !!! GS peaks power at 8.5K........the real beauty of WOT is evident then.

For you,few things should be considered,GS150R is not a 2 stroke bike that will come into power whenever throttle is widely opened, and also its a short geared bike.........so you have to feed rpms to each gear before you jump onto the next gear.
1.REV high while shifting gears to get to a higher top end.
2.When near WOT,go full WOT once and then lower and hold, again go full WOT and repeat the process...........The GSR would be doing 120kmph on the speedo in no time.

I also ride a 2stroke bike, rather an iconic one called Suzuki Shogun-hope you know what it is and trust me friend, there is a sea of difference the way 2ts and 4ts perform.Hence your transition from a 2t to 4t is yet to happen.

While Shogun can sprint to a 110kmph within one twist of WOT,the GS150R will do the same in a relaxed way which will involve RPM feeding..............its the same with all 4Ts.But what a 4t wins you are Fuel Efficiency, smooth ride and comfort. On a capable 2t you would rather prefer racing.

                    Hi Guru..
Hope your fears of rusting is gone now no offence meant. Anyway congratulations, you are getting one of the best pieces in 150 cc category commu-tourer.
BTW which colour have you chosen?
Don't hesitate to re-check the already selected bike for scratches, breakages.
After taking home, dont forget to post the pics

                    • Mileage

                      Hi Guys,
Today I checked my mileage after long time..It gave 48 Kms on city..there was lot of traffic and 40 percent of my drive were below 3rd gear..So I am sure that would have drained the petrol.. I was in 3rd mode(God).. I will try the other 2 modes and check for mileage before heading for sc..While giving for 1st service, they said to bring the bike if the mileage is low.. I was getting almost 55+ before 1st service..I know this would take some time for the mileage to set down.. But I would have been happier if it had given 55+..Let me wait for the other 2 modes..I have driven for 1500 kms and it's going to be 2 months since i purchased the bike..
Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by its breathtaking moments.

I havent been on enough highway runs to push it to the max.....+ bikes not even had its 2nd service yet. But I never shift low even on normal city riding because it just feels puny below 5k. Thats one thing I miss sorely from 2ts. Whats the max rpm on the gsr? does it go upto 10k?

I also ride a 2stroke bike, rather an iconic one called Suzuki Shogun-hope you know what it is and trust me friend, there is a sea of difference the way 2ts and 4ts perform.Hence your transition from a 2t to 4t is yet to happen.

Dont talk to me like Im a kid man. Ive had the pleasure to acquaint myself with most local 2ts but the rxz and shaolin. If my puny (ind suzuki) max 100 was enough to knock my socks off when power tuned, the shogun just blew my brain....that too stock. I read around that there was another 16 bhp shogun produced...never seen it though. Anyway, I just miss such kickass riding in 4ts....closest to it Ive enjoyed are fiero and apache. I wouldnt have gone for gsr if I didnt see its advantages over 2t. + my family just loves suzuki.
Youre a lucky guy to own a shogun and ride it too. No probs with maintainence? We've had our share with max 100r. But somehow my nextdoor uncle has kept his in tiptop shape and doesnt want to spill his secrets.

+ its no consolation for me but I could beat an rx 135 from signal to signal in traffic zipping.....probably due to better weight distribution of gsr....I used to wrestle to control my 2t.

I read through some of the Old Discussions regarding LED Lights in this Forum and found that some have experienced that LED's will work fine even on the stock AC Setup. I think it was Akfara.
The 2 LED's i purchased are worth 100 /- and i think it should be of decent quality.

Another thing, my Pass Light does not seem to work now. Is this Normal with a Higher Capacity Bulb ? I did not check if it was working before.

Yes; normal. Pass light is the high beam head light. You have replaced the bulb with a higher watt one and have not increased the current supplied to it and so it is not glowing in its full capacity. As the supply current is less than needed, it will take bit more time to burn the filament. That is happening here. The pass light works but takes a little more time to burn.

The best way to overcome this difficulty is rewinding the headlight charging coil of the magneto and replacing the RR unit.

Since you are from Pune, you can easily find out a reputed auto-electrician who is capable of doing this rewinding there. Approach one.

The LEDs are not rectifying diodes to handle high voltage and current. So it will not last long if AC is supplied. So connect it to DC, preferably from tail lamp. In that case too, you cannot expect a long life of the LED. If connected in series or parallel to speedometer, it MAY affect the display.

Though the modes, GOD or SATAN, have nothing to do with the mileage or performance, stick to the mode which seems to be better for you. The mileage you got in the conditions you described is very good.

So, at the time of next service, specifically ask the mechanics to not alter the carburettor settings of your bike. Tell them that you are getting a good mileage and you are satisfied with it. Some mechanics have the habit of re-tuning the carburettor without any reason. That may be due to their ignorance. Do not spoil your bike.
