I am using HID on GS for past many months. Just connected the pilot lamps and main headlamp to battery, with given connectors. Didn't convert the bike to full DC or didn't go for any rewinding stuff, simply because no one in Mumbai Pune is trustworthy for this job. It is doing good, I have done countless night rides on pitch dark roads, and each time I blessed the HID. Go for it. Two 'sacrifices' I had to do for HID:

    1. Had to stop using starter. Starter uses a lot of current, which I am better off saving for HID, so always use kick.
    2. Use pilot lamps alone in traffic/city. Anyways city ways are lit. HID discharge of battery is offste by AC charging only above 4500 RPM. Therefore use HID only on long rides or speedy city rides, not below 30-40 kmph.

I too would like to know whether any value addition is there by BS3 carb.

Yes bro...why was your carb changed...yours is a new bike...then what was the problem that they had to change the carb....
I think the tank was changed due to rust right???
I will keep that in mind next time. I am thinking of doing it myself as earlier when I had HH passion, repeated times they didn't changed the oil and charged for the same so I don't rely on any of them. May be I am too harsh on Suzuki SC.

Yes you got it right about the tank; it was full of rust.
My carb was changed as the mech told me that it was a faulty one and was responsible for my bike's cruel mileage of 38 in city's crowded condition and 45 on highway(approx).
After the change, I took mileage test (100ml) and it turned out to be 6.2 km/100ml (highway)

        • @animeher: Dont under estimate the necessity of headlights even in well lit areas man. I used to do the same, switch off lights thinking street lights and other vehicles' illumination were enough.....and result was - I hit a stray concrete block while riding in the shadow of a bus. Big ouch for the bike.

          • Hey guys,

This thread is going great. Keep it up.

Congratulations to all the new riders .

For those who remember me : After my tryst with the GS & getting back on my Fiero & completing 1L on the odo(still running strong), I got a new ride for myself, a silver Karizma 2011 model.

            Here are some pictures.

            Please scroll down little

Have a happy & safe riding.

            • The problem in GS headlamp focus is caused by the default reflector, to overcome that huddle we need to fix a diffrent reflector

P220 reflector (projector) is small which can be ported with in GS unit or we need to try a different one.

                • @segagt and animeher : I use Halonix white 35W lamp, its just the same as stock lamp, nothing new with it.I prefer to use HID only if I get my bike converted to the DC electricals. But the problem is that I do not have enough time to set down and carry on the mods.My GSR is a daily workhorse.Right now I am going to apply two nominal performance mods:
                  1.Paper Air-Filter
                  2.RTR180 BS29 mainjet.

For the HID,I need to buy another GS alternator coil, some good wires,HID megawhite (4300K) BiXenon,Piaggio Ape RR unit. Now the HID of range 4300K-5000K is not available in my city, the other parts also needs some market hoping........so I have the idea but no time

I do not know if BS2 and BS3 carbs would vary by much in terms of mileage, because it is the same BS26 carb and in order to increase mileage other changes has to be done to the engine like valve timing, ignition timing, exhaust configuring otherwise only carb changing can make the stock engine run lean.

My way of thinking is keeping the stock carb and modifying it for more performance at top end, that's all.

I have salvaged two images from the Facebook profile of Suzuki motorcycles which suggests that Xbhp and Suzuki maybe officially on friend's list soon !!

1.The picture below shows a ride of few officials(probably) of Suzuki India along with the GODS(Gang Of Delhi Superbikers) and Xbhp covering the event.Bikes seen are Suzuki Bandits and GS150Rs and a Slingshot !!!

                        • Thank u!!

A big thanks to Anupji, Madhuji & Guruji for clearing out my doubts. The print-out part was nothing, I meant the sticker. cudnt get the right word I let out a big sigh of relief on reading all of your comments.

But as u know, riding everyday will make us more curious about certain things and I certainly am curious about some..

                          1) There is some grinding noise which seemed to me like knocking. But its not knocking noise...Its something else but i cant place that sound. Can u pls tell me wat that sound is?

                          2) I noticed today while riding home from work that my lights flicker a lot when the bike is stationery.. Is that so with u guys too or is it something to do with my battery.?
Ride Safe so U can Live to Ride another Day!

                          • @varun: by knocking sound, do you mean a kind of high pitched pounding like sound especially above 5000 or 6000 rpm in higher gears?....say above 50 kmph?

Lights flickering at low rpm is normal for gs. it even out after some 3000 rpm if you have noticed.

Well they do associate themselves with Xbhp at times but Suzuki is not a big sponsor of Xbhp like Castrol or Ceat.

They only provide bikes and back up for various Xbhp rides as far as my knowledge goes: either the Bandit to Himalayas or the Bking in New Zealand.
Very similar is the role of Ducati too.

But I think, after the Delhi GODS campaign something big is cooking too !!!
