        • hi everyone,

A few days ago, I had 100ml test which gave me 6.2km. Now again when using r-r method, I have got 47km/ltr. I have kept my bike in shade, not accelerated hard, tried to run the bike with appropriate driving to stretch that liter. Still not even got 50km...

          Don't know whats wrong...

Just kidding...Well finally I bought the GS this year...after a long time wait....I bought the same color as yours....Blue...but with black combination....
Well the bike is great....and I am happy....
well anyway All the best....and keep in touch.....do visit us in this thread.....often....
            Gurubhai,
            Thanks.
ALL IZ WELL. Rightly said its not as good as GS, better than that (Kidding). So yours must be the new model, which has some new stickering job & change in silencer plate etc etc.

My dad is planning to buy this bike. So do you suggest buying it again, knowing what I have faced in the past.

Please throw some light on this.

            • Please Help

              Hello Guys,

As the 3rd servicing of the bike took place, As mentioned earlier the guy told me to put supplement and not to change the oil, but i told him to change the oil, not to use the supplement...

as i was busy that day in office i told my friend to bring the bike...

what i noticed when i took the bike is ...... I think they haven't carried out any basic checks like the chain was loose the battery was down and the clutch settings where loose....and today I have noticed that the gear indicator is not showing the 0th gear and no neutral light.... it shows blank and i am unable to understand in which gear it is.....at times if the Clutch is pressed and bike is in 1st gear it still knocks even when the bike is stopped....

what should i do please comment. ???

So your target is 50 kmpl Hmmmm try this,

                # 1 don't target towards mileage all the times.

                # 2 ride safe and ride properly don't do stunts to acheve mileage.
(Yes stunts some ppl always avoid using clutch even if it is required and applying full clutch won't drink petrol but half clutch do spoil mileage, if you have to wait in traffic signal for more than 5 mins then switch off bike, below 5 minutes don't switch off because turning on requires more fuel than being in idle for 4 minutes)

                # 3 more and more short trips consume more petrol

Even after all this if you get lesser miles do remember there are many critria on getting more miles per gallon

Be happy and drive safe, some babies needs more years to start talking, like that some bikes needs more miles to get settled so as to achive more mileage.

                @ bikelover

Your issue sounds strange brother, check if the occurance is regular then ask SVC for a fix

Your issue was very unfortunate even though the parts were replaced. May be it was from the dreaded lot. I guess this is still a good bike to buy again. Just check with Suzuki if there is a 2011 model coming up with any changes.

Nothing is wrong except that you are adopting the faulty R to R method to check the mileage. Your other practices are good because it is helpful to get more mileage which is critical in these days. Try to keep the tank full, as it will reduce the evaporation of fuel.
Whenever you want to check mileage, use the can method which is foolproof. If insisting R to R method, do it in a long distance basis i.e. more than 1000 kms or so.

ya I wish that I could get 50 kmpl atleast. My carb was changed so I was expecting more mileage as 100 ml test just after the change, gave me 6.2 on highway. So, just wanted to know the figure at city condition +highway. I was expecting at least 50-52 km.

Evaporation might be one cause of getting the difference(15 km) between the two mileage. To add more, I was using choke in the morning to start the bike, is that the culprit???

Hey Vishal, glad to see you posting man. Going against the crowd here, I wouldn't suggest you the GS. Because you have faced a lot of problems and finally gave back the bike, I guess it will be always on your psyche that this is the same bike I sent back! Honda Uni/Dazzler are good. Dazzler's height n weight is small too, so your father (sorry for generalizing!) will be at ease controlling it than controlling the 150KG GS.

This question itself is irrelevant because the method you used to find out the mileage itself is incorrect. Can you find out exact voltage of a 12 volt battery using a multi-meter in 1000 volt range?
Choke is used when the bike hesitate to start, mostly due to cold climate. If you can start it normally, there is no need to use choke.
Starting the bike is not a ritual. Slightly twist the accelerator and start using the ES button. There is no need to kick to start. Use the choke if the climate is cold and if not, avoid it. Keep the bike stationary for 10 or 15 seconds and start riding. This will not cause any harm to the bike. It is not a Chinese duplicate toy.

Hey Madhu, you sure about that part in bold above ?? is it equal to 4 minutes ??
I usually turn off the bike if the signal will be red for more than 15-20 seconds.
Even i'm getting around 47-48 kmpl only.

Btw, here's an update thats not so nice,
My 3rd tank, which is 90 days old, is rusted at that same spot just inside the mouth, again.
But this time i didn't go to the SC, guess i wont get warranty since i missed one service. So i wiped off the rust with a cloth, It went off about 80%. and then i put coconut oil(only oil i could find) all over that mouth area so there's no exposed metal for rust to form.
Is this good enough ?? Is that rusting problem only at the mouth or would the tank be rusting inside in places that cant be seen too ?? (i'm getting second thoughts now like may be i should have just gone to the SC and asked for a new tank)

True. But why cannot consider a bullet 350? For a middle aged, bullet is better than the new generation bikes.

                              • new bike problem??

Took my GS home from the showroom after booking it last month.

Few issues: The gear shifting is really hard, i can understand since its a new bike but its rock hard when its in standstill. Is that normal?
sometimes gear indicator is not showing the 0th gear and no neutral light.... it shows blank and at times if the Clutch is pressed and bike is in 1st gear it still knocks even when the bike is stopped.(same issue as stated by BikeLover)
                                sorry novice question:
and is the orange light on the console always on even if head light is off?
and sometimes their is a 'dhaad!!' sound when i was riding like something is hitting the ground i checked nothing was.
