Thanks bro for your insight. From your the earlier comments it was quite evident that on comparison TT is better than TL in Indian Scenario. To double check the conclusion I raised that question. Human are prone to make error, so safety is never enough how ever good one is. The Nut behind the wheel means driver rite........

Couple of times I have reported such mileage reports, but such a mileage in congested Bangalore is a great Testimonial to GS(to you also). But the question why everyone gets such a different average is like a mystery now....

It all depends on the quality of fuel used, the engine oil used, state of tune, tyre pressure present, type of road used, fuel pump where the fuel was filled,.......now these are very basic parameters.

Apart from that there are others like : state of spark plug, state of air-filter,state of valve timing and timing chain slackness, state of chain tightness and even weird ones like level of air resistance for cross-wind infested highways, level of water resistance for water clogged city streets and also on the altitude of riding and climate prevalent in the regions of use.

Weirder parameters are, behaviour of locality of stay(fuel is costly, and gets stolen too !! ) and also how much time the vehicle spends standing in the Sun and with fuel cock open while engine is not running.

So,how can you expect similar mileage if there are so many parameters that sets the standards for the mileage delivered ??????

And if someone is rev crazy, there would be lesser mileage,a more gentle rider would always exhibit better mileage.

I have experienced the worst mileage of all times, during my last trip at the start of this week.............My GS150R used up 9 litres of Speed petrol in just 280kms while travelling constantly at speeds of 100-105 kmph cruise !!!!
On all the previous trips,it returned a mileage of around 52kmpl even when cruising at its top speeds of 120+ on the speedometer.
But ,as I ran out of main fuel on the return journey,I filled up at a highway fuel station after running 10kms on reserve fuel.I only filled up 6 litres of normal fuel, then I traversed 245kms@100-110kmph back home, commuted at my usual pace for 4 days now and the main fuel is still to hit reserve............

So what can be inferred of this ???
I concluded there was something wrong with the Fuel pump where I filled the Speed petroleum............and other than that,I faced a lot of crosswinds that day while travelling to the trip......more than while returning.

Apart from the daily chores of the GS150R,
Suzuki fans and GS-pians who expect better products from the Suzuki, please contribute your views to this thread, where a state of art Suzuki is being discussed.........posting here at Xbhp helps many OEs to finalise their products.

      • Hi guys,

Yesterday i changed rear wheel tube to new and asked that local mechanic about tube sealant. He said me to buy a bottle and fill for both tubes. It works as tuff up tube. Is it good idea to do? Any suggestion guys....

And i think this Mystery is going to stay Unresolved for a select bunch of unfortunate people like us who are experiencing this False Mileage Issue. My Last 3 R-R Mileage Check has returned figures of 60, 47 and 27. Yes. You read it right. Even i am Stumped with so much Inconsistency in Mileage Figures. So now i have decided, enough of the Mental Torture.
" Screw it, Enough of this Sh** " and just " Fill it, Shut it and Forget it ", and Live in Peace.

Yes i was referring to the driver as the nut behind the wheel..
As a thumb rule engines having compression ratio of 9.2:1 or less cannot have significant improvement by going for higher Octane Petrol,...unless their Ignition timing, both static and dynamic are altered. In chennai Tamilnadu,HPCL had started putting up their own petrol vending where the quantity and quality is really superb...It is better to go to company owned petrol bunks for this reason.

I think it is a good idea, provided it is done properly...One of my friend did this to the front tires of his Toyota Innova since he is on the highway mostly. After 3,000Kms he found car shaking in the front beyond 120Kmph. slowly in about another 2,000 kms it started from 90 kmph itself. When he looked at his tires they were worn unevenly. It was given to Toyota A.S.S suspecting suspension issues...it was found that the front wheel bearings were worn out,and the front wheels could not be balanced..all due to the liquid poured into the tires to prevent puncture ,and air leak.So in total two front bearings, and two new tires were changed and is now ok...at a cost of 30,000/-.

Yes, that is why I'm not riding the bike much these days, using the older one till I can replace the tyre for this. I don't want to put in a tube&use it. Also, the micro punctures are too small to actually plug. So the bike is in hibernation for the timebeing!

Actually one of the products used in the teflon process helps to restore gloss of plastic parts also. These are the most prone to dulling due to weather conditions, etc.
You can also use a car dashboard wax polish spray once in a while on the plastic parts. It really works!

~35 kmpl.....down again. Suspiction is on local petrol bunk now.....dont fill at shell near iskcon.....now they are even tampering with receipts.

anyone knows any honest bunks in bangalore? Im inclined to think that BP can be trusted for now as they have newly installed machines in most bunks. No shell bunk ive been to is good. Never tried indian oil or hp on gsr.

Bro...that's really shocking...I always thought that the shell petrol bunks were the best...espeically in Bangalore.....I am orginally from bangalore now staying in Hyderabad....and as I used to stay in mahalakshmi layout... i used to fill at the shell bunk near the iskon circle.....but at that time i felt it was good...and after coming here too i preffered shell as I felt the petrol quality better....

But as in hyderbad there are not much shell bunks near my area I started for HP or Indian Oil.....but I this is really shocking to know that they are cheating in shell....

                      • maximum mileage figure in GSR

                        Hello all...
today i surpassed maximum kilometers travel on GSR in 100 Rs. Petro(1.61 ltr). I had set trip meter to zero when i hit the reserve last time. Then bike has travelled 115 kmts when it hit reserve today. So the mileage comes to 71 kmpl
This is the best mileage i got ever on GSR. My ride consists of 60 % highway(NH 17) and mangalore city ride. speed ranging mainly between 35-60, occassionaly to up to 70 kmph. my earlier record was 67 kmpl in november.

Jayant, you would better confirm this with your dealer, go and see your bike have a chat with the dealer, if your city is very buzzing and more suzuki bikes are moving, i think you will get 2011 bacth itself

                            Anup,
