Nothing is wrong in comparing buddy. I did felt some trouble in gear shifting when i sit as you said very close to the tank. I ride victor once. I know victor is a good machine. No doubt at all. But GS is also a wonderful machine. It has more advantages than anyother bike. As i told earlier, wait till your first service is completed. All your problem should vanished after first service. After i take delivery from the service center, i will tell you the performance of the bike.
karthic sir. no doubt that GS is a very good machine.. but it is like a newly wed girl comparing her "pugundha veedu(inlaw's house)" with her "porandha veedu(mother's house...not a good translation i know)" and pointing out shortcomings in her pugundha veedu and always praising porandha veedu.. irritating of course

When certain things were good in the old one and you expect the new one to be even better, and the new one though is way better falls short of the older one in things which the older one was doing better... bound to get disgusted sir.. thats its why i compare...

as you pointed out will wait for service interval... and do updte the improvements in your bike after servicing....

It's not like comparing P150 to P180, which are from the same stable. So my suggestion will be, learn to cope up with what the GS presents you. I'll bet that it is not that you have done a huge mistake or anything buying GS. Gear shifting is a matter of habbit, and especially for shifting while standstill is not life altering scenario. What would you prefer, smooth shifting with less power and less safety or other way round?

Think positively my friend Otherwise you will miss out a lot of good things the bike has in store for you.

@shadowfax: sorry buddy, I couldn't click any photo of the ride WIll surely get some on next trip. BTW thnks for asking in Suzuki about the bulbs. I am planning a mod similar to what I did in caliber115. I am planning to remove the pilot bulbs and number plate bulb, and replacing the 35W bulb with 60/55W Osram silverstar. The effective light to the bulb will be either 35+5+5+5=50W or if the pilot lamps are 10W each (which I doubt), then 35+10+10+5=65W. The headlight was improved substantially on my previous bike, I hope same will hold true here as well This is a simple mod, not voiding any warranty issues.
ani ji.. huge mistake or not only time will tell.....

in 2005, when i bought the newly launched bajaj "wave" scooter for my sister... i booked the vehicle and it was supposed to be delivered in another two days.. due to official work i had to move abroad for a one month business trip..

it was a horror story when i landed in india.. my sister was yelling at me.. the bike had given immense trouble..... sudden stops in the mid of the crowded road....pushing the bike for long distances along with her 2 yr old kid.. horror sir horro... however the matter was escalated to the highest level in bajaj and regional service manager for south took the scooter personally and inspected for 3 days.. and after some replacement etc., the scooter started behaving well..

i would say it is the best scooter except for the weight...

what i pray is that, the curses of my sister should not work for me with GS

there is nothing... chain guards are not water proof

they are here to just prevent excessive dust deposition in chains...

even though if water enters into it, due to oil water wont stick to chain and by rotation water will be splashed... so dont worry

and stop using sir which is not nice (my opinion)

just drive your victor after riding GS, I am sure you will miss something.

Well, the Dealership Experience has been a Mixed one. The Pre Delivery Part was smooth. No katkat or hassles. My Sales Agent Nisar was Responsive. I took a Loan Scheme which also went very smooth. I got Teflon Coating as a freebie from the Dealer but there is no way i can tell if they have done it or no. When i booked by Bike, i wanted the Grey Color and they did not have it. They were getting the new Lot of Bikes the next Day of which 2 were Grey. Even i did not get to choose my Bike. I was just alloted a new Grey GSR.
A day before taking delivery i checked my Bike, which had a Plastic covering on some Parts and made sure everything is fine.

Faced some niggling Issues as Chain Noise which was rectified by the Service Center in a couple of days. First Service Experience was also OK, not that Great.

Am still experiencing an Issue wherin a part of my Chain Cover's Paint has Peeled Off and has got a bit rusted because of Acid falling from the Battery above. Dunno if this happened during 1st Service. Had told them to replace it under Warranty or Paint it. They did not wilingly agree to replace it under Warranty and painted that Part with a Blue Color on my Grey Bike. Idiots. Even then, they missed a part and it is still left unpainted and rusted. Then, i decided that i will get it replaced under Warranty as it's not my Fault. A person there did assure me that he will replace it but does not have it in stock and will contact me in 10 Days. This happened about 20 Days ago. I also sent Mails to Suzuki in the Contact or Feedback Section on their Suzuki Website but no response. Will contact the SC in a couple of Days regarding that. If no response, then probably i will escalate this to a Higher Level.

Leaving all that aside, the Main Reason why i chose Swargate Suzuki was the Distance from my Home. This itself is about 8 Kms. Kothrud Suzuki is Poles apart. Around 20 Kms from my Home. So, that was out of Question.

Sagar and Animeher have had Good Experiences from Kothrud Suzuki. So, i would suggest you get it from there, if Distance from your Home is not a Concern.
Thanks Shadowfax for the detailed info........
          Pune Guys,
What freebies did u get with the bike if you made the full payment, i know Animeher got a 1000 bucks discount

              • Checked out this bike today...quite good actually. Very smooth, super silent engine (Esp after riding my RTR). Broad seats, relaxed sitting position, good feedback from throttle. Braking was 'ok'; The best thing was its effortless pull in 6th gear in 35km.

But didnt book it, somehow overall appeal didnt match my expectation
of all the forces, Twisting Force impresses me the most

Dude, assuming that you have read atleast some pages of this thread, this bike is for people who are after riding comfort, smooth ride, milleage, etc... You may not have the vroom punch you get in RTR[but you get a pretty decent pick up]. So probably if you could list down your requirements, people here in xbhp could help you out[If you are looking to buy one].

Plastic cover is not necessory. The remote will always be in my packets. In rain, i use a jerkin. Rain water won't go inside my jerkin. So no problem.

If i have any problem with battery or electrical wiring. I can't claim warranty. But i hope i won't have any problem if maintained properly. If i have any problem in that remote lock kit. I can claim warranty. Warranty for that kit is different and warranty for the battery is different buddy.
Thats good then. Im planning to have one for me. Thanx really for the help dude...

The sound comes in shifting from 2nd to 1st I know. It gives thuk sound. Acc to my experience, if u press lightly at 2nd, it comes to 0 and again when u downshift to 1st, thuk sound comes. To avoid this, press hard at 2nd and come directly to 1st gear. Actually u must be knowing this already... At rest (speed = 0) in topmost gear, many bikes have trouble downshifting to 1 (I've tested my friend's FZ and Cbz-X). Your Victor might was exceptional, u were lucky with that particular piece. Thats what I think. Best idea is to slowly reduce gears with speed and when u stop, be in either 2 or 1. Thats what we normally do right. Good luck.

Hello. I got my bike from pallavaram showroom[Jain Suzuki]. I was given the privelege to choose my bike but was not able to due to my hectic work schedule. There were some times i thought i should have chosen my bike.
I just had a look at it when it went for registration. I had to argue with the SC guy just to listen to the engine at idling and thats all I did[or i could do]. Just bought it trusting the dealer.
TIll now apart form the regular complaints[3.5K vibes, rear brake not effective, headlights], this bike is excellent. I've done 1440 on the odo. gear shifting is getting smoother and smoother.... down shifting was never a prob. May be sometimes. The 3.5K vibes does not seem as a problem to me at all.
Somebody has mentioned about vibes near the tank, Today while i was coming from office i noticed that there were no vibes near the tank[at 5.5Krpm, will test at higher rpm tommorrow]. Coming to milleage, I get close to around 55 in the city, and thats impressive.
Your problem seems to be unique which needs to be rectified as earliest as possible. Remember to follow it up with the SC guys and keep buggin them until they fix those.

In the begining, even a newly married girl won't behave as you wish. She has to forget his family and she has to set to your localty, your family and everything. Give her some time to adjust herself to your conditions. Until then you have to wait. Am i right?

I think your first wife is victor. Your second wife is GS150R (Just imagine it). If you compare these two, you may get a feeling of unsatisfaction. So i am sure you can't able to enjoy your married life. Better forget your first wife and cope with your new mate buddy.

                            First service completed.

After the first service, all the WOW factor in the bike increased double. The bike is WOW and WOW. Everything is smooth. All the complaints is been checked except the 3.5k rpm vibes. Even though it's not completely solved, its much more better now. I have done 1011 kms. Braking is much better now. I complained about the poor headlight. They said they have adjusted the headlight beam. Guys belive me or not, it's way better than before. I am satisfied with it's performance. Regarding Viberations, i haven't checked in higher rpm's. I will update that later. So dhiwakar, your first service is more important one. Don't forget to tell all your complaints to your service center incharge. Ask them to check it properly. I hope after your first service you'll be a happy GS owner.

One doubt regarding your down shifting buddy.

In chennai city's traffic, how you put 6th gear. At what speed you're shifting to 6th gear. I feel the 6th gear is useful only in highways. When coming to a sudden hault 6 - 0 might be difficult. But if it is in 3rd gear or 4th gear, it will be easy to bring it back to neutral. It's just my thought buddy.

                            • The R15 can be slotted into 6th gear at speeds above 35, with no knocking. I'm assuming this should be the same for the GS too, atleast above 40. At about 45-50kmph, 5th or 6th gear will not make much of a difference in the city, but on the highways the overdrive effect will be felt.
                              Quench my thirst with gasoline!

You can do a 30 with GS @ 6th gear without knocking..... When i have to come down suddenly to 30 from 60, I just move with the 6th cog.. Strictly no down shoifting
