Yes i took the test drive.. but the bike was better .....

regarding 2.5k rpm vibes.. please sit very close to the tank with the tank touching your crotch... you will never want to leave that 2.5k rpm again... heavenly vibes...

i remember taking my victor in 2002 to marudamalai(was working in coimbatore then) just after 3 days of purchase from Indo shell (trichy road).. the bike did not have any issues.. but GS finds wanting in power when you climb Padi flyover in chennai.. might be iam looking too much into the RPM meter without allowing engine to freely rev

will be giving my bike for 1s service hopefully next week. the odo has already crossed 560 km ....lets hope for the best
Even i didn't drive and select. I select and then drive that one and confirmed.

I tried sitting very close to the tank while riding. I didn't feel any vibes. But i feel it's very difficult to shift gears. I think your seating position is wrong buddy. That's why you have difficulties in downshifting, thats why you hear some noise coming from front suspension and that's why you feel that viberations. Somebody correct me if i am wrong.

Don't worry about your complaints. Lord Muruga will take care.

And to tell you guys, I was blown away by it....... I couldn't first believe Im riding GS150R...... It was soooo smooth... engine sound was same throughout and sounded much more refined and quiet than my bike..... I was surprised.... It had done some 2800 km on odo..!

Im going now to collect my bike. I will post the report when I come back.

When will our GS be like that?

Hey i thought that it may make some scratches on the back. So i'm using that cycle lock in front. You can also put that in front while riding. It's pretty good. No sounds, no scratches, no vibration, nothing. Perfectly fits in the front. Check the pic for more information.

Do they have separate service centers or have common one???
Also at which can i get a better bargain
I am planing to but around next month ..........also what are things i need to keep in mind while booking the bike??
I purchased my GSR from Swargate Suzuki and i believe i am the only one in this Forum in Pune to purchase from Swargate Suzuki.
Well, the Dealership Experience has been a Mixed one. The Pre Delivery Part was smooth. No katkat or hassles. My Sales Agent Nisar was Responsive. I took a Loan Scheme which also went very smooth. I got Teflon Coating as a freebie from the Dealer but there is no way i can tell if they have done it or no. When i booked by Bike, i wanted the Grey Color and they did not have it. They were getting the new Lot of Bikes the next Day of which 2 were Grey. Even i did not get to choose my Bike. I was just alloted a new Grey GSR.
A day before taking delivery i checked my Bike, which had a Plastic covering on some Parts and made sure everything is fine.

Faced some niggling Issues as Chain Noise which was rectified by the Service Center in a couple of days. First Service Experience was also OK, not that Great.

Am still experiencing an Issue wherin a part of my Chain Cover's Paint has Peeled Off and has got a bit rusted because of Acid falling from the Battery above. Dunno if this happened during 1st Service. Had told them to replace it under Warranty or Paint it. They did not wilingly agree to replace it under Warranty and painted that Part with a Blue Color on my Grey Bike. Idiots. Even then, they missed a part and it is still left unpainted and rusted. Then, i decided that i will get it replaced under Warranty as it's not my Fault. A person there did assure me that he will replace it but does not have it in stock and will contact me in 10 Days. This happened about 20 Days ago. I also sent Mails to Suzuki in the Contact or Feedback Section on their Suzuki Website but no response. Will contact the SC in a couple of Days regarding that. If no response, then probably i will escalate this to a Higher Level.

Leaving all that aside, the Main Reason why i chose Swargate Suzuki was the Distance from my Home. This itself is about 8 Kms. Kothrud Suzuki is Poles apart. Around 20 Kms from my Home. So, that was out of Question.

Sagar and Animeher have had Good Experiences from Kothrud Suzuki. So, i would suggest you get it from there, if Distance from your Home is not a Concern.

The GS150R is definitely a macho looking bike!!!!
But when it comes to the exhaust note, it lets the whole thing down

SUZUKI should do something to this i feel...
I think even in one of the comparison video, it was told that , most of the youth prefer a roaring bike rather than a silent one...

As far as i am concerned,
          the bike has got power
          No vibes
But it couldn't be really felt due to the sound it makes
this bike is not for roaring... it like unicorn (a silent killer)

suzuki engineers designed the exhaust system such that it has built in resonator(good low end torque called XTP), reduce vibrations and also to meet the current emission norms.

I think you are comparing this with apache... its exhaust is designed particularly for roaring thump(refer its own website)

most of the people like silent bike (me too).

          • @abhi_gsr: On the day the teflon coating is done, it should feel very smooth to touch, you know what we call 'chikna'.
Anyways, now that a few days have passed, you can try this: Pour some water on a flat painted surface of the bike&see if the drops are trickling down or staying on top. This will give you an idea of whether the teflon coating was done or not.
            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

This is what he said to me.

Today afternoon i went to service center for my first service. I leaved my bike there. Tomorrow evening delivery. The service center incharge said you didn't have warranty for battery as well as electrical wiring. All the other parts are covered under warranty. The remote lock has 1 year warranty. In service center i said all my complaints. They note it down. They missed 2 of my complaints(chain slack and clutch adjustment). I'll call them tomorrow morning and ask them to do those 2 also. Today i asked the laddies handle. They said they have now. I asked them to fix one. For me they quoted Rs. 330 for oil and oil filter change, Rs. 300 for teflon coating and laddies handle extra. I hope all my complaints will be solved in my first service. Let us see
Thats good now. But still cover the remote with plastic in rain.. By the way, u meant to say, attaching this system has not violated any warranty ?

Wait till 1600 km at least. That GS was 2881 km old.. And its not just km, servicing also makes some 'magic'... The 5000-6000 rpm patch in my bike is now awesomely smooth. It was rough earlier. I don't know what they did under servicing..

@dhiwakar: can u elaborate what exactly is problem in down shifting ? would be easy to help u...

@Aniruddha: would u mind sharing some pics of ur trip ?

                  shadowfax...

my problem is that when you suddenly stop at 6th gear, then coming to the lower gear is a big headache.. the gears do not properly fall in place... it makes too much of sound also and the whole traffic looks at me ... it makes moving again also difficult as takes a lot of time to downshift..... the same thing would be butter smooth in my earlier victor..

but will sitting posture affect gear shifts.. i doubt... as the same was not experienced by me in my earlier victor..

now dont throw stones at me for comparing always with victor.... becoz it was my earlier bike, comparisons do come to my mind, as i expected my GS to perform better than victor... anything wrong???

                  • @dhiwakar: Buddy, even I compare my Vesta to my old Caliber115, so nothing wrong in comparing your bike to old Victor. However, know that these are completely different bikes, and GS will behave differently than Victor, because it is a completely different machine. It's not like comparing P150 to P180, which are from the same stable. So my suggestion will be, learn to cope up with what the GS presents you. I'll bet that it is not that you have done a huge mistake or anything buying GS. Gear shifting is a matter of habbit, and especially for shifting while standstill is not life altering scenario. What would you prefer, smooth shifting with less power and less safety or other way round?

Think positively my friend Otherwise you will miss out a lot of good things the bike has in store for you.

@shadowfax: sorry buddy, I couldn't click any photo of the ride WIll surely get some on next trip. BTW thnks for asking in Suzuki about the bulbs. I am planning a mod similar to what I did in caliber115. I am planning to remove the pilot bulbs and number plate bulb, and replacing the 35W bulb with 60/55W Osram silverstar. The effective light to the bulb will be either 35+5+5+5=50W or if the pilot lamps are 10W each (which I doubt), then 35+10+10+5=65W. The headlight was improved substantially on my previous bike, I hope same will hold true here as well This is a simple mod, not voiding any warranty issues.

Plastic cover is not necessory. The remote will always be in my packets. In rain, i use a jerkin. Rain water won't go inside my jerkin. So no problem.

If i have any problem with battery or electrical wiring. I can't claim warranty. But i hope i won't have any problem if maintained properly. If i have any problem in that remote lock kit. I can claim warranty. Warranty for that kit is different and warranty for the battery is different buddy.

                        • Another one joins the gang

                          Hi all,

After following this thread for the last couple of weeks. After a lot of research/ TDs I have finally booked my GS150R today (Greenish Blue).

I am working at chennai, and this bike fits my requirements to a T - power+mileage+refinement. basically a powerful executive commuter. I had the uni/hunk on my mind, but was bowled over by the GS after my test drive. I thought the hunk has too many vibes, while the uni is not very exciting to look at (purely personal choice). I do know it is an otherwisee excellent vehicle having driven it for more than a year earlier (my roomie had one)

My dealer is ABT motors in nandanam.

Many thanks to all the guys (sam, hyderbadi nawab, animeher, karthik, siva, dhiwakar, et all ) who have shared their experiences on this thread and helped people like me make an informed decision.

I selected my particular piece also at the showroom today at the time of booking - checked for rust etc - the bike seems fine. Delivery expected on Monday/Tuesday.

Any particular checklist to follow at the time of delivery ?

                          Cheers!
                          Srinivas

btw: how many gs owners from chennai on this thread ?

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.

Nothing is wrong in comparing buddy. I did felt some trouble in gear shifting when i sit as you said very close to the tank. I ride victor once. I know victor is a good machine. No doubt at all. But GS is also a wonderful machine. It has more advantages than anyother bike. As i told earlier, wait till your first service is completed. All your problem should vanished after first service. After i take delivery from the service center, i will tell you the performance of the bike.
