Nihal, you could easily understand the procedures by referring the links and description that i posted earlier. The risk factors depends upon your skill and luck. If you are familiar with soldering and other electronic stuffs it won't be a problem for you.If you want help on any thing more specific, you could post it here and other members of xbhp or myself might be able to help you.Originally posted by Nihal View Post

The warranty on the speedometer console which costs Rs. 2800/- becomes void if it is opened. You may perhaps be not able to claim insurance in case of an accident if the broken seal on the console is found out. So, postpone this kind of modifications which does not give any improvement in mileage, riding comfort or performance of the bike up to the expiry of the warranty.Originally posted by Nihal View PostGood going bro...keep It and can up......!
Btw can u explain the procedures with images..for changing it and the risk factors also.

Logging after quite a long time.
Nice to see So many mods on our GS.
A small update from me(no not about any mods but the mileage part)
After 14.5k and 7th service, my bike is smoother than ever
This much smoothness was not there before(except till 2nd service). So happy as of now.
Mileage:
Now this is somewhat confusing and very inaccurate atleast for me:
I was using R-R method (full tank to reserve) and used to get ~45 per my riding style( shifting @ 3-4 k rpm and speeds ranging till 85 kmph).
Now couple of days back thought of controlling the throttle wrist a bit and after reaching reseved filled 100rs petrol(79.63/ltr).
After 61 kms I hit reserve. Changed gears ~2-3k rpm and speeds not exceeding 62kmph.
So Mileage : 48.5 (Not bad but couldn't breach 50 mark though)
Next attempt with same quantity of petrol from same bunk. but riding with my usual style and keeping speeds till80-90kmoh.
Hit reserve at 51 kms
So mileage 40.6

Was very surprised with these figures. Atleast i was expecting ~44 with the 2nd trial!!!
Oil change is due(almost 2.4k kms) will be doing this weekend.
Just wanted to share .
Now i am certain that I cannot extract >50 kmpl frm my GS

The better way to test is spent some more money on petrol, i mean try with at least 5 ltrs of petrol.Originally posted by ashoka_bnglr View PostLogging after quite a long time.

You an drain little petrol from carburetor drain plug ( located at bottom of carb with tube , just unscrew 3-4 turns) on single stand , draining little petrol approx 1/2 litre should be enough with water if present.Originally posted by Nihal View PostHi, good morning fellows
..
Today I was washing my baby suddenly I seen that water get into my fuel tank from upper side ...will it harm my engine..guys m very afraid...
Water doen't go in tank that easily unless its forced .
It will not harm engine if its warm and running , though can trouble starting from cold sometimes

Pls ensure in what mod you drive , eco mod should give figures above 50 easily , also check exact volume of fuel before starting.Originally posted by ashoka_bnglr View PostLogging after quite a long time.

If you are using mineral oil , please change it at earliest , i usually prefare 1500- 2000 kms for oil change ( being 150 cc and our GS has more moving parts), though 2.5 K is what manual suggest.

Yes Madhu,Originally posted by MSN1 View PostThe better way to test is spent some more money on petrol, i mean try with at least 5 ltrs of petrol.

Its just that I can't go <60kmph for long
With just 100rs of petrol I can measure the mileage soon and then go back to my style of riding
Anyhow I always fill 1000rs of petrol and as soon i hit reserve I go for the filling again. This is the method I use(yes not the best way of measuring).
I am now riding with "No Mode"Originally posted by Vikshe View PostPls ensure in what mod you drive , eco mod should give figures above 50 easily , also check exact volume of fuel before starting.

The blinking light is somewhat irritating during night. So switched to No mode.
But I still couldn't understand how come i couldn't cross 50 mark!!
My daily commute is around 40 kms of which 50% is highway ride(speed varies from 60-90 here), then 30 % medium traffic roads(speed till 60) then remaining 20% is pure gullies( with speed no more than 30 and usually will be in 3rd or 4th gear)
Regarding oil change yes I will always change the oil @2k kms.
Infact just yesterday I changed the oil.
For the first time I did not change the oil with the SVC provided one and bought "Shell Advance AX3 Mineral". Need to see if I can find any difference from this.
Just one query regarding this oil, the oil says "All formulations meet: API SG and JASO MA." but I was under the impression that it should meet "JASO MA2". I checked this after the oil was changed and even the shell people were not aware of this standards.
