The number of bikes sold by each dealer has increased but the facilities and number of mechanics remains the same for which unavailability of space is a major reason.
In a routine servicing, the mechanic starts the bike, adjusts one or two screws and nuts here and there, pours a few drops of oil on the chain and returns the bike. If oil changing is necessary, he does it, sometimes without changing the filter.
All the SCs – Suzuki or any other - are the same in case of poor servicing and personal attention. Recently visited a showroom to see and, if possible, ‘touch’ a new miraculous 150 cc bike in our market which, as per some reviews, is engineered to be ridden between 7000 and 11500 RPM (90 to 148 kmh) speed to “know what bike it is”. No one there was free enough to ask me why I was standing there like a statue for a full 1 hour. At last, a sales boy came to me and kindly allowed to touch the bike with the tip of my pointing finger. All are extremely busy and no one is getting enough time to do anything.
This perhaps is the 1000th time in vain I am asking to do the routine maintenances such as washing, polishing, oil and filter changing, brake adjusting, brake fluid replacing, cleaning or replacing air filter, lubing chain and other necessary points etc., etc. ourselves. It is easy to adjust the chain slackness but the axle nut must be tightened in a specific torque which otherwise cause vibration.
Why cannot do the routine maintenance works yourself?

btw i have connected the pilot lamps to rear light plug....i will think later about full dc conversion... thanks to all members for such a nice thread...

Then the load on the battery will be increased by 35+10=45 watts. Let us see what happens to it.
Before riding in the night, go for a 1 or 2 hour ride with switched on headlight in the city, around the SC or battery shop so that you can reach any of it in need without pushing your bike for long distance.

If iridium plug is not easily available in Bangalore, contact [email protected] or[email protected]
The cost of it (CR7HIX) when I bought was Rs. 550/- plus Rs. 150/- as packing and forwarding charges.
HID kits too may be available with them.

+1. I always book the service well in advance, take my bikes and cars to the sc personally, sit and watch them being serviced, ensuring it is done to my (finicky) satisfaction, and take them back. By hook or crook; always have, for the past three decades. Except when it involves some body shop work for the car, on the rarest of rare occasions.

Try like this, disengage the clutch fully and push that cable in and release the clutch ,, Also check that cable is not tight while twisting the handle bar to the extreme left or right... Use a cable tie to prevent the cable from moving aside....

Cost of NGK Iridium is Rs. 550 M.R.P.

It is important to go and inspect your bike before the papers are sent to RTO for registration. Check for the number of kms it has run. Any thing more than a few, you should demand them to allot you another one. Note the chassis and engine number of the bike you would go ahead with. Check for scratches all across the bike, check if both the tyres rotate freely, and if there is any noise from front brake pads. Check oil reservoir level for front brake, check engine oil level. Open fuel lid, check for rust.
Check seat for scratches by opening the seat, check for cracks in plastic on the underside of the seat. After opening seat check for rust on the main frame of the bike. Look for it at all nooks and corners. Check for rust at the swing arm joint. Open front left panel and let the show you the fuse box. Check if there is an extra fuse in it.
This auto start on the bike starts only with the clutch engaged. Not the front brake as mentioned in the manual. Start the bike, listen for uneven engine sounds. Even when the engine is cold, it should not stall. If its shutting down, it requires tuning. When cold rpm could be less that 1.5, but when hot, it would settle at 1.5.
Finally check horns, light (upper, dipper, flash), indicators, brake lights.
                Hope this helps.

I finally got my GS yesterday. I had a checklist with me, and yet today I saw some inadequacies. Let me give a full account.
I had booked from Akshay Suzuki at Malad on 12 June. I was promised a teflon coating, seat cover and number plate as a free add-on. I was told to come to collect the bike after the RTO formalities. I got a call on 27 June evening to come and collect. I went to pick up my bike yesterday (28 June). When I saw my bike, it looked dusty so I asked the it was not polished. This created some confusion, the sales people said it was already polished, and the polishing guy was non vocal. I touched the tank, which was not smooth, it was not teflon coated. The sales person instructed the polish guy to polish it. After this I took the delivery of the bike. But when I drove about 20 meters I realised that the speedometer was not functional. So I took it back to the showroom, where the mechanic also checked it. They took the bike inside the workshop, where they connected the speedo from the front left side panel. Here I also noticed that the bike had run for 60 kms. I asked this to the sales person, who gave me a blank look. After asking around a bit, she said that the bike had been driving from the warehouse in Vasai. This was unacceptable. I asked why did they drive the bike, and they said that they usually drive the bikes from the warehouse. So I checked another GS that was in the showroom, it showed a run of 25 kms. The showroom guys did have any reply to this discrepancy. I was requested again and again by the sales person to accept the bike or else they would suffer losses as the bike had been registered at the RTO. When asked why the speedo had been disconnected, there again was no answer. Finally they agreed to give it in writing that there person had ridden the bike from the warehouse to the showroom and hence there was a reading of 60 kms, and they would repair any problem that could arise.
After this, I was really tired as I had had a very long day, and I finally took the bike home, though not very happy. It was past 7:45 when I moved out from the showroom. After some time when the engine warmed up, I could hear that the sound had changed to a much harsher tone.
Today morning, the first thing I did was sent a mail to Suzuki and asked for a replacement. I have driven the bike for about 100 kms today within Mumbai. By afternoon, I noticed that the seat had a small cut in it. There was also no oil to be seen in the window on the front brake oil reservoir on the handle. This prompted me to check if there was any oil in the engine. I opened the cap to see the dip level. I was however surprised to see that the engine oil cap did not have a dip stick to measure oil level. Is this normal? How do you gauge the oil level? And the worst happened in some time after that. The auto start switch stopped functioning.
I have called the showroom and informed them about all these problems. they have called me tomm to the showroom to rectify them.
What should I do in these circumstances? Is there any way to surrender this bike and demand another one from the dealer? In the mail to Suzuki, I have asked who has authorised the dealer to ride the bike from the warehouse? I am yet to get an answer from them. Do any of you know have any names and numbers of guys form Suzuki?
                  Thanks Magesh, Punarvasu and Kirtimannan.
The guys from Suzuki have yet not responded to the email I had sent. In the mean time, I took the bike to the dealer to address the urgent problems. The front brake oil reservoir is filled till top and as Punarvasu said, its colorless, hence cannot see the level. They changed the damaged seat. And I got to discover new way to start the bike. Contrary to as written in the manual (press brake), I need to engage the clutch to start the bike.
Now, I have driven the bike for over 200 kms in the last 3 days. I do not see any problem. The bike in fact returned a handsome mileage of 66. So decided to retain the bike unless Suzuki guys exchange this one directly with a brand new one (with no oil in the engine).

                    • Hello Paraglider & gmagesh14

As per your suggestion, I instantly called up suzuki dealer (MRP automobile - dombivli) where I booked my beauty to check bike model before registration.

He told me that your bike arrive here only after registration. Their team check everything and sent for registration, if you find any fault at the delivery time we will take whole responsibility and rectify that.

Do I really keep my finger crossed till delivery ?

Hope Suzuki won't let me down..I first time considering Suzuki.

My daily routine does not allow me enough time to dedicate to family and friends let alone maintaining the bike. Apart from that, this being a free service, planned to get it done at the SC

And the reward that I got for leaving my bike at the SC was mileage tuneup instead of mileage test by Jar method. Apart from being dim witted, turns out that the service engineers are deaf as well.

This noise is due to the dust accumulated between the disc and brake pad. Cleaning it with compressed air or water will solve this problem but the noise is likely to reappear.

If the brake fluid filled is DOT 4, it is colorless. This is why some of us think the reservoir is empty.

This is full of DOT 4 brake fluid; not empty.

There is a printing mistake in the manual. But in page 5-2, as Magesh pointed out, there is the clear instruction to squeeze the clutch lever before pressing ES button.

This stalling is normal and is not due to improper tuning or manufacturing defect. The recommended engine RPM, when the engine is warm, is between 1300 and 1500.

The FE you get is excellent and somewhat near to the 71 kml I got in the running in period. Then, why cannot retain that bike with you? How can you assure that the next bike you get is virgin, untouched by anyone?

Dont worry sagar, our bike has got the potential.,. Rest is in our hand to yeild the maximum from it....

                                45kmpl is a decent mileage from a 150cc 13.8bhp powered bike...

Remember ,this bike has 13.4nm of torque at 6000 rpm which helps in minimal gear shifting at low speeds.,.

So,utilise it and try to ride at top gear from speeds of 30-35kmph.. Analyse your riding style and adjust it with your bike.,.

Do you want still more shock, I'm getting 50-55kmpl regularly for a varying riding speeds of 60 - 80kmph...

                                Best wishes.
