Are you sure its coming from the engine? When I washed my bike, I once knocked back the footrest in such a way that the fastener came loose. That used to cause a rattling noise.

Check the oil filter is placed correctly.,. And the spring on the oil filter cover is touching the middle portion of the filter while closing...

Refer Page no. 6-19 to 6-23 of the GS150R Owners Manual for a clear pictorial explanation...

Check whether the oil filter is inserted correctly or not. If the open end of it is not inserted to the engine, the spring on the filter cover goes in to the filter and does not tighten. If so, it rattles and the oil flow will be blocked, resulting damage to the engine.
Clean the drain bolt area, drain the oil and collect it to clean bowl so that you can use that oil again, open the filter cover and insert the filter correctly.

            • This afternoon while returning from Pondy by car, I saw a black GS 150R go past me near Jipmer at a good clip, and disappear towards Tindivanam. I was doing a steady 90 - 100 KMPH, but could not see him again anywhere till I reached Tindivanam! Beyond that point he could have gone in any direction.

That was pretty impressive for a 150cc bike! It is scoring more and more brownie points with me, and I just might bring it home one of these days!

I was almost sure that you will come to this decision now or later.
GS reaches 100 kmh at 7300 RPM and 117 at 8500, where its maximum power output is. You can reach and maintain 100-110 kmh easily but maintaining speed beyond that is a bit difficult.

                • Hi guys,

Writing here after a long time......(Just didn't get time to write though kept reading what was going on in here)

I was having a little problem lately with the bike, I don't know if anyone else has also encountered it or not, but whenever I try to turn my bike by leaning instead of turning the handlebar, something just touches the ground, it happens more when there is a passenger behind. I don't know what touches(never gave a look what part is getting scratched) but has anyone any clue what that might be?(My guess is it could be the main stand)
What should I do to reduce/correct this problem?

Surely the bike reaches 110kmph easily, but beyond that, its just purely luck, specially when you have a passenger behind.

Confirm something is touching the ground or just you hearing some sound while riding..?

One possible cause might be the saree guard(if slightly bent) will hit the shock absorbers gas reservoir which could confuse like something is hitting the ground....

Are the springs on both stands working fine?

When I lean too much, I hear a sound as if something just touched the ground and is being dragged(something metallic)

Springs on the stands are working fine, I'll inspect in the morning which parts are depleting/losing paint or getting scratched without any reason.

Had to travel far for the whole of last week so I was rode at speeds of 115 KMPH with pillion on the highway without a break for around 80 KMs everyday 6 days last week. The only problem at these speeds is braking. Not an issue on the highway but definitely the braking distance is more than bikes like Karizma or FZ.

Other than that, it was a sedate ride and the only way to find out that I was going so fast was to glance at the Speedo(other than the occasional windblast). Most other 150-180cc bikes would rattle at those speeds.

                              Hi Nihal,
If the rattling sound is coming from the engine after the oil change, check whether you have filled the correct amount of oil. Also make sure you have placed the washer properly in the oil filter.

Rattling sound can also come from the head light cowl.As you have removed it from the bike for fitting the LEDs, you might have accidently forgot to tighten any screws or something so check that also"

Yea, It happens to me also. I have a friend who always does this with his FZ. It is fun isn't it?

                              • Had a terrible situation this weekend.

I had plans of changing the oil and oil filter hence removed the oil and found that the drain nut doesn't get tight, it started slipping. i noticed a full metal thread got ripped off the nut holding plate in the
                                drained oil jar.
So i thought i will get it done(may be tapping with oversize thread will do) on monday. May be this hapened becoz i might have over tightened the bolt last time.

HOWEVER here is my shock of the weekend:

My brother didn't know that i had drained the oil off my bike, he took my bike to attend a marriage .
He drove 25 kms(avg:50km/h speed) and after a break of 2 hours, he rode back home for 25 kms(avg:50km/h speed).
So totally 50 kms without engine oil and no lubrication for the transmission box .
So now neither i see engine being rough, any changes in gear shifts nor i see thick smoke from the exhaust as i drove only 10 kms to check(i have poured the oil).
I was expecting that the engine would have got seized and my gearbox would have gone for toss.(Am i underestimating this or any other common bikes in such situation) .
How do i make sure that nothing has gone wrong and is there anything else that i am suppose to check.
