Please help me out with this. I know this question is a bit irrelevant to this thread. But still.

I am going to take a 150 bike (decent mileage, power, comfort). I had shortlisted it between unicorn and GS150R. I even decided on GS. But now, I am having second thoughts. I dont know whether I am going to make a decision that I regret in an year or 2 (suzukis being scarcely seen on road and availabilty of spareparts being an issue).

Please help me out. I am living near Ernakulam, Kerala.

If you were me, which one would you choose GS or Unicorn??

Thanks to all your advice, I have finally made my mind up to take the GS.

I am taking the black one, but didnt like the red graphics on it much

I finally got my GS yesterday. I had a checklist with me, and yet today I saw some inadequacies. Let me give a full account.
I had booked from Akshay Suzuki at Malad on 12 June. I was promised a teflon coating, seat cover and number plate as a free add-on. I was told to come to collect the bike after the RTO formalities. I got a call on 27 June evening to come and collect. I went to pick up my bike yesterday (28 June). When I saw my bike, it looked dusty so I asked the it was not polished. This created some confusion, the sales people said it was already polished, and the polishing guy was non vocal. I touched the tank, which was not smooth, it was not teflon coated. The sales person instructed the polish guy to polish it. After this I took the delivery of the bike. But when I drove about 20 meters I realised that the speedometer was not functional. So I took it back to the showroom, where the mechanic also checked it. They took the bike inside the workshop, where they connected the speedo from the front left side panel. Here I also noticed that the bike had run for 60 kms. I asked this to the sales person, who gave me a blank look. After asking around a bit, she said that the bike had been driving from the warehouse in Vasai. This was unacceptable. I asked why did they drive the bike, and they said that they usually drive the bikes from the warehouse. So I checked another GS that was in the showroom, it showed a run of 25 kms. The showroom guys did have any reply to this discrepancy. I was requested again and again by the sales person to accept the bike or else they would suffer losses as the bike had been registered at the RTO. When asked why the speedo had been disconnected, there again was no answer. Finally they agreed to give it in writing that there person had ridden the bike from the warehouse to the showroom and hence there was a reading of 60 kms, and they would repair any problem that could arise.
After this, I was really tired as I had had a very long day, and I finally took the bike home, though not very happy. It was past 7:45 when I moved out from the showroom. After some time when the engine warmed up, I could hear that the sound had changed to a much harsher tone.
Today morning, the first thing I did was sent a mail to Suzuki and asked for a replacement. I have driven the bike for about 100 kms today within Mumbai. By afternoon, I noticed that the seat had a small cut in it. There was also no oil to be seen in the window on the front brake oil reservoir on the handle. This prompted me to check if there was any oil in the engine. I opened the cap to see the dip level. I was however surprised to see that the engine oil cap did not have a dip stick to measure oil level. Is this normal? How do you gauge the oil level? And the worst happened in some time after that. The auto start switch stopped functioning.
I have called the showroom and informed them about all these problems. they have called me tomm to the showroom to rectify them.
What should I do in these circumstances? Is there any way to surrender this bike and demand another one from the dealer? In the mail to Suzuki, I have asked who has authorised the dealer to ride the bike from the warehouse? I am yet to get an answer from them. Do any of you know have any names and numbers of guys form Suzuki?
dude soory to hear that..i give my bike for servicing over there...akshay suzuki malad is the worst place for servicing bike...we the owners of suzuki are cursed to get third class after sales service..no doubt the bike is good bt the service centres are bad...specially akshay suzuki malad..u will find there 15-17 year old thin guys lukin like justin bieber without moustache servicing your bike.

      my first service experience...
i booked bike from an auto dealer..got the delivery and all documents within one week...but my self start didnt work..auto dealer said once u run it for few kms..self start wil work..till then use ur kick start..if i ran my bike for 15kms+ and stopped the bike using the kill switch and then start it with self start it used to get started.....but initially i had to use the kick start...

then went for my first free service...told abt the self start problem..he said dont worry battery would be checked and recharges...i said what the hell?? its a new bike and u still hav to check the battery level?? but i thought its ok is jst a minor problem..so i came back in d evening and found that d self start problem was not solved...mechanic said sir u will hav to leave your bike here for a day...we will find the problem and u can take it tomorow..i said i dont care..i mentioned it in d beginning itself tht the self start is not working..i want my problem solved now i dont care whter its ur closing time....they started working on it and solved my problem in 10mins...

      2nd experience--second free service
was not facing any problem ..bike had completed 1400kms+..went there saw a suzuki access 125 owner fighting with them sayin..yesterday i dropped my bike in the morning..by evening u gave me my bike..but now i came to know tht u hav not serviced my bike..my access 125 still has a wheelout..then what the hell u did yesterday?? just cleaned by bike??
i felt sorry for that guy...
so one of the justin bieber from there came towards me to make a job card...i told him i dnt wnt to change the oil..and my bike is running good..jst u need to adjust everything...he pressed d clutch, brake and said yeaa its need adjustment....come in d evening your bike will be serviced..
reachd there in the evening..bike was parked in the same place and position as i parked it before leaving there..i went there and at that time they cleaned my bike ..wasnt charged much just 25-30rs..suddenly while riding home i realised that d servicing was not done at all...brake and clutch wer just the same as they were before i gave for servicing..and even my bike was in d same position in d way i left it...only thing was that my bike was washed...then the morning incident of another customer came in my mind..and also my first service experience

MORALE:- askshay suzuki malad....will just clean your bike and atmost change the oil and oil filter(during free service)..let ur free service pass...u will know how much u will have to pay for paid service...

Remember ,this bike has 13.4nm of torque at 6000 rpm which helps in minimal gear shifting at low speeds.,.

So,utilise it and try to ride at top gear from speeds of 30-35kmph.. Analyse your riding style and adjust it with your bike.,.

Do you want still more shock, I'm getting 50-55kmpl regularly for a varying riding speeds of 60 - 80kmph...

        Best wishes.
your riding skills are surely better then mine dude...m a newbie..
thers vry imp point that u have mentioned...riding at top gears frm speeds of 30-35..i actually use 3 gear til 35..then upshift to 4th...is that the reason why i am geting less mileage or to be precise standard mileage??

That is the common factor for any bike to get good FE.,

Nothing wrong with your riding! We are supposed to rev freely through the gears and shift at sufficiently high RPM/speed to the next higher gear. Applies to all makes of vehicles. So shifting to top gear above 50 KMPH is actually a good idea.

Shifting to top gear too soon will lug the engine, even though it may not be evident in some bikes and cars; not good for it's long life.

I got my bike from Dolphin Suzuki, ghatkopar (Sakinaka-Ghatkopar road). I have done my 4 services there only before transferred to Hyderabad. Their SVC is not having huge rush, so things will be done in a cool way. If you give your bike for servicing in the morning, they will definately provide delivery same day.

Instead Akshay, try to get service your bike this time in dolphin.

One interesting thing is Dolphin SVC Owner uses White Karizma ZMR instead of any other suzuki super bike .

                • Guys I am posting here after a long time reason being a hectic professional and personal life. Anyways, I had booked a service at Aerolux Motors, Bangalore sometime back and they gave today as the appointment date. I went there today morning and they attended the bike in a very professional way. The guy was pretty young but neatly dressed and speaks English well. I told him 4 issues.

                  1. Mileage dropped
                  2. Considerable jerking in the first and second gear
                  3. Very very hard gear shifts. Sometimes I ll have to stand on the gear lever for the gear to shift.
                  4. Indicator switch spongy and not working sometimes.

He made a note of all these. He was pretty polite and listened. Evening I went to pick up the bike. The same guy explained what all work was done. He said that the mileage and jerking issue was because of bad carburater tuning and they have fixed it. As for the gear shift, it was because of worn out clutch plates it seems. So they replaced it under warranty and he said its best to not ride half clutch. So he adjusted the clutch in such a way that its almost impossible to ride half clutch. Then the indicator was also solved. Bike was squeaky clean unlike Apple Auto service. Bill was 475 and I am a happy customer. Bike is super duper smooth. I cannot believe that it is so smooth. Just a touch and gear shifts. Wowie!

Only one bad thing about this place is that I have to book 10 days in advance. But thats ok. I am rating this 5 stars!

Cultch plates replaced in warranty? Good..

Did you got those items in bill and mentioned as warranty in the area for item's price...

If not, they would have done the clutch adustment only,.

Anyway I'm too happy that your bike is back to its life....

My bike's previous owner also vouched for Aerolex Motors. He also mentioned the advance booking thing.

Okay, I've decided that I'm too going to Aerolex for servicing. And although the guys at Apple Auto BTM are nice, it doesn't feel very professional.

That is the problem; none of my friends own one! Come to think of it, I don't see even a single GS 150R in my office premises where over 500 two wheelers are parked. Plenty of "Access" around though!

Thanks for the heads up. If at all, I may do a 300 - 400 KM round trip once in a while if I am going alone. Cheaper than taking the car. Daily commute will be 25 KM only.

Can we ride 150 KM non-stop? Any heating issues? Also would like to know problem areas, and issues if any, that crop up after two or three years. I hope the bike ages well. Sorry, it is impossible to browse through 1600+ pages of posts to get all the answers!

I did a brief test ride and could touch 75 KMPH in 6th gear before the next signal came up. I liked what I saw. Felt like I was riding a ZMA. Test ride bike had 18000KM on the odo and was none too clean, but did not rattle.
