This is the second time i faced the same thing...... & that from different dealer too.

If you are not satisfied with GS, never go for it. Instead of sitting on the fence, test ride some other bikes and select one among those.

I am doubtful about this statement too.

    True.

Starting a new thread to gather ideas from other bikers too was a mere suggestion. The idea is from Dr. Arul and if he thinks it is better to continue this discussion here, let it be so.
Starting a new thread has its own negative side. See how the discussion on engine oils goes endlessly without reaching anywhere.

    • 8000 KMS. & now changing to fully synthetic. Totally dissatisfied with Motul's mineral oil and I don't really know how to explain without creating a fuss. So, now someone who lives in conditions similar to Mumbai tell me if Gulf should be good and if I should buy 10W50 or stick to 20W40 ?

Does Motul is doing any social service activities for Bike Manufacturers or the bikers to provide double the quality at an equivalent cost to other brand oils?

It's just a mineral oil and it'll provide the same performance like others..
See, each lubricants are equally good, only their JARGONS differ..
we wont see any diff b/w them...

My advice would be try semi synthetic with the same xx-w40 grade and drain the oil every 2500kms range... It'll be the better option,.

Still I am not sure about it, my plan is " let the Lathe Guy try first"

Agreed. Been there, done that. It is best to use vehicle mfr recommended grade oils or go slightly up the scale, provided the price difference is marginal. Even synthetic oils, which cost 4X higher, should still be replaced at the KM / Months mentioned in the manual. Don't believe stories of extended drain intervals.

Even assuming it is safer to use them for longer KM, that should be within the time period. If the owners' manual says 3000 KM or three months, use the synth for may be 4000KM, provided you run it up within the three month period. But the three month deadline should be adhered to, even if the bike has done only 1000 KM.

Actually doing two or three oil changes a year with the OEM oil is superior to doing one change with Synth, however expensive it is.

                Here is a small update:
                1. ODO: 21922
                2. No paid services crossed more than Rs 450/
                3. I use elf gold 20w40 mineral oil
                4. I am happy with the FE of my GS

Still I don't find any issues with my GS
                Hopefully going smooth

I too do support what Magesh said. I am using the same brand SS oil from the second servicing of my bike. No problems yet.

Our bike is not going to dash at 1000 kmh speed or give 500 kml mileage or its engine is not going to be everlasting by using any oil. All we can do is maintaining the bike in a good condition to prolong its life.

Even a single expert fighting on the engine oil thread or wherever else is not able to distinguish the brand of oil filled by riding the bike. Yet the meaningless, boring fight is going on in the pretention of helping others though it actually is not helping but confusing. Let that good to no one fight go on throughout this century.

Choose a good xxW40 SS oil and replace it and oil filter in every 2000-2500 kms.

Well explained indeed , we can change different brands with every oil change and to shortlist some oil brands that suits our bikes , different locations have different recommends .
