Super urgent help needed!
My bike is stalled and I need to fix it today itself as I've to ride 50kms later in the night so HELP!
What happened ? : Somehow approx. 250ML water went in my tank yesterday and there is around 1.5L petrol only so its highly adulterated . Now in the morning it just didn't start but I rode with FULL choke for 20kms. Even with the choke it gave me such bad jerks at times, like at 35KMPH, suddenly engine stalling. Somehow I'm back home & I see there was a municipality raid and all X mechanic shops are closed.
What to do ? : 1. Tell me how to remove the tank, clean it and fix it again? I don't have any tools but the stock tool kit
ORR
2. How to drain out petrol completely and then refill fresh petrol ? I know this yellow pipe that drains petrol but its so slow and it leaves some petrol inside even after leaning the bike completely. (I could hear it) But will draining and refilling fix the problem??
ORR
3. Anything you know ?
Pls understand the urgency, desperation and tell me what to do ?" A man is also known by the bike he rides :D "

The stock tool kit might not help you in removing the fuel tank.Originally posted by chiragwarm View PostMy bike is stalled and I need to fix it today itself as I've to ride 50kms later in the night so HELP!

i guess apart from that the carb also needs cleaning.
However if you can manage to remove fuel tank, empty it through the fuel hole and the
rest by tilting it upside down. Later take a lengthy cloth, push it inside the tank so that it can soak the water(be careful that you don't miss drop the cloth inside the tank).

If you want to drain the fuel from carburetor for cleaning, detailed procedure is given in the owners manual page no. 7-2Originally posted by chiragwarm View PostMy bike is stalled and I need to fix it today itself as I've to ride 50kms later in the night so HELP!

As I reply to your post, m also draining it from the carburetor. But its so slow that only 4 drops coming at a time.. 1st it was a nice flow and half a liter was flled up in a flash. Now it stopped... I removed the bike from main stand, shaked it N now few more drops. Now its on side stand but rarely any help !Originally posted by dip097 View PostIf you want to drain the fuel from carburetor for cleaning, detailed procedure is given in the owners manual page no. 7-2
I remember this mechanic some day removing petrol from some pipe and he controlled the flow with the fuel hose On Off Reserve. What's that ? Where's that ?" A man is also known by the bike he rides :D "

First of all you have to put the fuel valve to reserve position then disconnect the hose connecting to the carburetor. The hose have a clip at its end so remove that before pulling it from the carburetor. After draining the whole fuel from the tank, drain the carburetor.Originally posted by chiragwarm View PostAs I reply to your post, m also draining it from the carburetor. As per the manual,Originally posted by Gansan View PostCan someone post the top (6th) gear ratio of the GS 150R? For instance the 5th gear of FZ is 0.875. Is the sixth gear of the GS lower than this?
1st- 2.750
2nd- 1.933
3rd- 1.300
4th- 1.091
5th- 0.957
6th- 0.833

Today, I touched the speed of 131kmph on the speedo besting my previous high speed of 129 kmph. The windblast becomes intense after 120 kmph so crouching is necessary. The bike gains speed quickly till 120 kmph but then takes its time to go further.Last edited by vikhyath; 07-11-2012, 08:54 AM.In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Easy way is to remove side fairing towards petrol knob / battery side , disconnect fuel hose pipe from carburretor, remove petrol completly on side stand , little tilt towards left side should drain all liquids , you can ignore few droplets left. carburetor can be drained out with lossening drain screw at bottom. as water settles at bottom due to high specififc gravity , you can refill with petrol shake up the vehicle ( if you canOriginally posted by chiragwarm View PostMy bike is stalled and I need to fix it today itself as I've to ride 50kms later in the night so HELP!

) and repeat the process to remove some more water. this is easy way within your scope with stock tools. removing tank and carburettor cleaning is litle risky if you are not used too , let this be done by SC or good mechanic

So i thought i will get it done(may be tapping with oversize thread will do) on monday. May be this hapened becoz i might have over tightened the bolt last time.
HOWEVER here is my shock of the weekend:
My brother didn't know that i had drained the oil off my bike, he took my bike to attend a marriage
.
He drove 25 kms(avg:50km/h speed) and after a break of 2 hours, he rode back home for 25 kms(avg:50km/h speed).
So totally 50 kms without engine oil and no lubrication for the transmission box
.
So now neither i see engine being rough, any changes in gear shifts nor i see thick smoke from the exhaust as i drove only 10 kms to check(i have poured the oil).
I was expecting that the engine would have got seized and my gearbox would have gone for toss.(Am i underestimating this or any other common bikes in such situation)
.
How do i make sure that nothing has gone wrong and is there anything else that i am suppose to check.
If you are sure your bike runs as before it used to be , nothing has gone wrong
, well set engines can run without oil(lub) for some kms if driven very slowly on top gear without revying , onyl thing will be cooling will not be effective which is one of the prime features of engine oil. our GS has aluminium engine having very good heat disipation , so riding 50 KM ( without oil)should not be problem

I have been riding for the past two days so far covering 120kms and am trying very hard to find any changes and I feel no difference.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostIf you are sure your bike runs as before it used to be , nothing has gone wrong

Hurray as of now.

Have any one out there used to clean engine oil strainer screen while performing oil change? because it is said so in the maintenance and lubrication schedule of our bike. I have seen strainer screen in yamaha 106cc engines, in which it can be accessed by removing the engine side cover. So any one know where it is in our bike?.

Hi All,
I got my Black GS last thursday and till now i have covered 460km on it.
I liked everything on the bike except for the headlight which is good for nothing.
I have to ride at night, so I am thinking of converting to full DC. Can this be done from Suzuki Service center or should I take help from local mechanic. Will doing this results in the warranty of the bike being void??
Please help me.

I'm thinking of buying one (if available in any shops near my house) because its getting really annoying waiting behind autos (some of them) at signals with all that smoke (they probably mix kerosene with petrol or something)
(i found some links on the net, though i dont know if it would be available in India )
So any thoughts about it ?
(attached pic below what i found on the net)
