I hope this modifications works perfectly for longer duration without causing any trouble in long run.Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostHi Guys,
Wanted to give a report on the after-mod ride of my GS.
I got a bigger bore+Cylinder head modification done by Joel Joseph two weeks back. Was asked to do a 500 KM run-in so that the engine can settle. After that, Went back to Joel and got the Carburetor Jet changed as the engine was coughing a lot. Now no more coughing.
Now for the Difference.
Where before the throttle was really sluggish, Now it behaves like a beast that is raring to go. Throttle opens really quick and you can feel the effect on the speedo. Top speed i hit was 121 with 9k rpm on 6th gear. Am sure it will go beyond that as well. But I ran out of road. Now you may say that 121 is not a very high speed, but what matters here is the distance it took to hit that speed. So i guess i am happy with my bike. From a 149 CC engine, now i have about a 178 CC engine, So I have the additional power if i ever require it. Overall 2 weeks after the mods..AM A happy guy!!!!
I also test rode the bike with Manu Bhat from this thread who also has a GS. He also felt the difference.
So overall, Thanks Joel for your work. Hope all goes well.
As indicated can you post those performance figures like 0-60 kph
(generally and stupidally asked by all enthuastics ) , also FE , now thats 180 cc approx comparable to pulsar / RTR 180.
You can try changing to smaller wheel sproket to achieve higher speed on like 140-150 KPH .... sorry i don't recommend those dangerous speeds on two wheelers .. after all our bikes are not race bikes and no race tracks every time,
I am content with what my GS gives , for speed above 100 i will prefere 4 wheelers

I am hoping for the same..I will try to provide the figures when possible..FE is something that i will be following keenly...i dont want such high speeds...lets see what happens...Originally posted by Vikshe View PostI hope this modifications works perfectly for longer duration without causing any trouble in long run.

I would like to change the chain on our bike if possible..get a RTR 180 chain put on as our chain gets loose very fast...any ideas/suggestions??
i agree about the fact that above 100 km speeds,,you are safer in a four wheeler..but again..even in cars we are not really safe...i dont like to speed..but once in a while i dont mind accelerating...

Hey guys , has any body obeserved while reading any reviews for new purchases , in news paper , magazines( most of them) where they do not mention or recommend GS
for any of them, were as pulsars / unicorns , fzs , rtrs , HH, even mahindra stylo
are recommended and get all thumps ups & kudos to purchase but no GS or Slings shot for that matter
. though these bikes are far better than most of them in every repect. i think Suzuki should take a note on this, most of potential (Geniune) customers are deprieved from owning this wonderfull piece of machinery because of poor recommends , we indians are too emotional about our possessions and generally go with the trend

If you can achieve performance better than FZ's , RTR's/pulsars 180's in stop go traffic without affecting FE much than your modifications may be worthy. any way congrats and please ride safely at higher speeds as you have still weeker brakes, tyre grips , vehical dynamics which will not support you at those speeds and given our road conditions , asplit second mishap can destroy your precious life which you own to your family.Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostI am hoping for the same..I will try to provide the figures when possible..FE is something that i will be following keenly...i dont want such high speeds...lets see what happens...

By average I assume you are asking for the FE..to be honest I am not yet sure..but the initial signs lead to the fact that mileage has increased a bit..but I will comment in detail after proper test....no vibrations...engine sounds a little bit different...all the +ve's of the GS remain..i find no diff...just the sound of the bike is different...Originally posted by manas34 View Posthow much average has dropped and is the vibrations started?

Could you give some details regarding the mod.
Firstly i'd like to know if he changed to a new cylinder/bore piston or he just bored out the existing one and only changed the piston and/or piston rings and if there were any changes in the silencer and air filter as well.
Secondly, how much did everything cost ? Including the new jets in the carb. (actually i should have asked about the cost first i guess
)
Thirdly, let all of us know what changes you get in the mileage and performance.
(even people who got the bigger bore for r15 reported higher mileage after the mod, its very surprising though)
I pass by koramangala pretty often but i've never noticed his workshop anywhere. Just heard about the bore kits and FFE's.

Hi..His workshop is in TC palya..not in koramangala anymore..He drilled a bigger bore on the existing and did some mod in the existing cylinder head as well...also changed the Jet of the carburetor..for the exact costs please contact him as i would not like to divulge in public...i have not check the FE yet..but the performance has improved drastically...lets wait and see what happens..KM

Finally when I reached office the odo was indicating 752 KM. Nearly 2 weeks and I am almost out of the first round of run-in. The next one is at 1600 KM. Will take it to the highway for a short spin of maybe 200 Km and then give it for the first service. Few things on ownership.
1. The bike has become much smoother. It is hard to keep it below 5K RPM. It is so smooth that you dont realise the speed most of the times.
2. The rear tyres are horrible. It feels very thin and less grippy. Maybe I shall upsize it soon.
3. The bike feels like it is pulling the rear tyre and it doesn't feel like the normal flow. Maybe the chain has become loose.
4. I am getting a mileage of around 50 right now. This will change and settle into a different figure as more miles are clocked.
5. The stock headlights are pathetic. Need to convert to DC and go for the HID soon.
6. Gear has become much smoother now. Not the butter smooth ones but smooth. I sometimes get a false neutral when upshifting from 1st.
7. This needs a better throttle response and feedback like RTR. Maybe I am asking for too much but that would be awesome to have.
8. Its very addictive to ride this!
Congrats buddy. I always thought that this bike and the Unicorn deserved a 180 cc mill with a cruising speed of 90 - 100. With Joel's upgrades, I think that is possible. What do you think?Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostHi Guys,

Thanks..after the mod..the bike likes to accelerate a little more..it cruises at 80-90 without any hitch or problems at 5 gear..push to 6th and it wants to rev more..Originally posted by rharish90 View PostCongrats buddy. I agree that suzuki have made a mistake by not upgrading to a bigger engine on the latest GS release..KM

So in the 6th gear it can do 90 - 100 all day. That is great news! I was planning to get a bigger heart once mine munches a considerable number of miles. Will be glued to your updates. I think you should start a new thread for this. I think you are the first person in xBHP to get a Joeled GS. Would be great and useful for the rest of us.Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostThanks..after the mod..the bike likes to accelerate a little more..it cruises at 80-90 without any hitch or problems at 5 gear..push to 6th and it wants to rev more..

I think the first GS to be done up by Joel would be Manu Bhats GS..Originally posted by rharish90 View PostSo in the 6th gear it can do 90 - 100 all day. That is great news!
