i am 5'10.. and it suits my height very well.. 2 inches shouldnt make much of a difference however, i will suggest you a test ride..
engine is very smooth at higher ends.. bike feels solid... however if you love the VAROOM punches of xtreme then ************************************you to re-read your posts before submitting it.. it will save a lot of heated arguments and time/space & keep the thread on track.. PEACE!!!
P.S. i am myself quite sarcastic and find a lot of people dont cope with it..

GS - good for city usage, excellent tourer(6th gear, butter smooth engine, big fuel tank )

    Thanks for the inputs.

And how about the Service backup in your localities and spares availability. I have seen couple of GS 150R's getting themseleves air locked...!! though this is not a major issue, Does any one has idea abt it?

I did had two test rides on GS 150R, I am happy with the bike, But still some how i get second thoughts over Xtreme again. May due to its excellent service it did to me

Any how, So how is the headlamp intensity during nights (on low and high beams). I have a R15 now....and I know its handling capabilities , So If any of your guyz have a chance to ride a R15...on what scale do you guyz compare GS 150R with R15. I know this is kind of stupid question to be asked. But this helps me making a decision,

u said it yourself dude.. shouldnt even think of comparing GS with R15... anyways, the handling and manuevering of R15 is way better than of GS.. GS is heavier in front which makes it less flickable in traffic unless you get experienced riding on it.. R15's response/riding is more sporty whereas GS gives a commuter feeling..
one question.. if you have R15 in your stable, why looking for GS/extreme??
I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

hehe true, But just wanted to know the points that you stated just now. GS 150R comes with long handle, So have any of you tried to shift to short handle bar...i guess that aids in improving handling a little bit. I felt Short handle could have been good on GS 150R.

And, how genuine is the speedo of GS 150R , We know hoe optimistic the speedo's are [].

I felt that rear brake has very less stopping power? Is it like that on all bikes (GS 150R's)?

Coming to R15, I am selling it off because im no more single . And due to my crash last year, I have my elbow with little internal damage in it. So not able to hold onto the riding position of R15 with mean leaning forward and R15 isnt a family bike

havent tried such a thing.. its quite new for me.. you have to ask the PRO's.. again speedo.. dont know how real it is.. i have done a 116 on plane and 120 on slope.. now pls dont break my heart by telling the reading wasnt correct

it was initially but once i got it tightened it works fine.. the front is sluggish too if you start comparing with other discs but it stops when you want it to..

one more biker tied the noose.. oh sorry tied the knot(j/k bro).. poor R15.. anywys jokes apart, if you are planning for a commuter for family then i wont suggest GS as its rear seat gives you a feeling of camel ride.. though, very good mileage for a 150 cc bike..

I had test driven two GS 150R at two different showrooms. Both were completey different.

The first one was just 200kms old and the engine was butter smooth, gear shift was smooth again, front brake was crispy rather than progressive. Xtreme comes with progressive braking where as RTR and pulsars are know to be crispy. I redlined that bike at 10K on RPM in 3rd gear and speedo showing 92kmph. rear brake was not having enough stopping power to stop on its own.

Now on second bike, It started off as there wasnt no petrol in it. First gear, knock sound, at RPM of 4500 there are vibes in footpegs and near the tank. Engine was not so smoooth and refined as the first bike I rode. I know already that the bike has met with a crash. and its done 2300kms... I am not sure why a test ride bike has done so many KMS front brake was not crispy and felt like prgressive one.

Overall its was different experience on same bike. I have written a review abt GS 150R, But scred to post over here it as its quite big and I am not a good writer .

Coming to the pillion's height..Its same as in Xtreme..So not much of choice to me.

              ur a senior member

              heck anyways........

i always consider everyone here and talk like my friends
but dont understand why people always have to take even straight comments ( IMO ) to be insulting and sarcastic ??
i sometimes know i am posting extra unnecessary things
but you can talk and discuss with ur friends cant u??????
this not a office or some other business place that we always have to be professional

the comment u made above means that if i am not talking something knowledgeable i should not post at all??

it feels like i am talking to selfish normal world around me
i always thought that some things bind people ...........
here this community ... the biking spirit binds people
i feel like i am around with my brothers and friends

i am dead tired of justifying myself
man o man....... just read my lines man and think whether i really intended to mean that???/

              anyways..... if u felt hurt

              i am really pissed off
              infact
many people know , but think all these things as petty and dont mind to answer them ,,,, there are very few selected who care to do so
if i am doing ...... i am getting a beating

u can see my two line comment as sarcastic and when i reply half a page for u ....... and there you dont care to thank also....??
so do i consider as insulting and cry n decide that next time you post i wont reply because you are so ungrateful ? ,
i always think that we should give and get help and be like a family as i said .... bound to each other ..... cooperate with each other ,
and then when like hitting me back for sarcasm as u thought it to be so
you thank me then tell me for not being courteous .... and being non sarcastic......
now should i consider your thanking as a mere formality or an some kinda ehsan ( favour ) on me????

so its good that i remain silent spectator
              and mind my work ............

              @ alkemyst
brother...... people have other works to do also..... so i try to keep my comments as short as possible and i expect mature people to understand that ......... not needing a briefing in every sentence
but i feel that people here are in a fancy of taking my sentences in multiple meanings and some how getting hold of the wrong meaning only

its me who always asks for trouble
animeher did not come and say... " hey outworldly ... come and help me and make comments.... "
so finally i am the one who is at fault really

i am sorry to you too for the inconvenience caused
as i said........ i will keep quiet from now on.... so no need to reconsider my statements which i always make from a clear and true heart.....
              no sarcasm here bhai......

the details i asked you were because of some reason....... i do not own a gs and do wish to do so also...... until there is some radical improvements of those small bugs......
but thought of finding some things that might help
but who cares now..... i will look into other matters,,,,,
why uselessly bother with things which i am not going to profit at all
as animeher said .....no need for comments if they arent contributing
yeah dude,,,,,,,,, the helpful comments i make are no way contributing to me you see !!! ......

sorry for hijacking your thread from time to time
              but cant help it
and please those who think i am being rude , sarcastic or trying to show i have knowledge ......... its not the case
              even then.......... if it hurt
              sorry again
i will make sure that this kind of things do not happen again
i will limit myself as much as possible and not meddle in between

Chill buddy, This is Online forum.
This is not our life to think seriously about it. We share feeling and few of them might hurt. Ignoring them is the best solution. Internet forums are known to be good places to have very bad arguments.

And this is xBHP which is well moderated. Give some thought, Ignore what has happened.

                • Here goes my VERY SMALL review on GS 150R after my recent test ride.

Before going into review, will tell about my biking experience... Owned 3 Bikes till now CBZ Xtreme, RX135 and R15. CBZ Xtreme Sold, Current possession are RX135 (more than 1 Lac kms done) and R15 14K kms in 10months of city and tourer type miles. before these three, Lots of scootering, splendoring, passionning, 6-wheelers, 4 wheelers

done more than 35K kms in last 2 years . Taken R15 to its extremes in top speed, leaning, bending, braking, drags, tracks etc etc .

okie okie....enough of me...here is the review.

I always had Xtreme on my mind incase my R15 is sold off. But a wild thought came into my mind to have check on GS 150R. I already owned Xtreme (2007) and love it in all the senses, but had to sell it off due to my crash a year back. Unicorn and other 150cc like Pulsar and Hunk were never on my list including the latest addition of poser bike AKA FZ16 and RTR.

So I set out to my office little bit early to have a test ride. Reached showroom by 1.30PM.mid afternoon under hot sun ...

So, I turn ON the ignition, I see that tacho needle crawling to touch 12K mark on while its self-check. And the LCD display, wipe out and wipe in again. Nice fancy thing to see . Self-check is little slow when compared to other LCD enabled bikes. But the console looks really cool and useful. Clock, Gear Indicator. The bike has just done 200kms.

The bike was still in idle and I dint engaged the gears. With seating position upright and well placed foot pegs I engaged the first gear, which was butter smooth and with almost no sound the first gear is engaged, As soon as i release the clutch, the bike tries to Jump ...now that the torque needed for city. So I went on to the road and right away raised the bike to red line in 2nd gear, No Vibes, Refinement and smoothness is still the same as it was during idling. While in 3rd gear, I redlined the bike at 10K RPM and the speed was 92kmph...Quite an amazing thing for sustained smoothness. Bike was butter smooth and relaxed all the way in all RPM ranges.

Handling wise the bike is comparable with its other 150cc's but I wont say exceptional. Would still rate Hunk and Xtreme ahead of GS 150R, (Uni > Hunk > Xtreme > GS 150R), but I can say its marginal difference only.

I almost ride for 3kms by this time and I was alone on the bike. I took a U turn to return back to the showroom. Now comes the part, Petrol is over in the bike. While the reserve bar is still blinking on the console . As soon as I came in front of the petrol filling point, Bike comes to life again. . My intelligent software engineer brain make a stupid decision to not fill the petrol thinking that I could make up to showroom, So without filling it. I started going back to showroom, it was not tough has it was little slope. Once after 100mts. Bike again stops as no more petrol is left in it. So a sweaty tests ride at end of the day.

So summing up my experience with GS 150R

                  1. Definitely worth the cost. Its 68K on road in Hyderabad.
                  2. Engine and Console are its USP.
                  3. Handling is decent but not exceptional.
                  4. Relaxed engine, Good seating posture...Ideal for long drives.
                  5. Satisfactory braking overall.
                  6. Torque and power are well balanced. Top speed i touched was 100kmph. Did not got chance to rip it much because of traffic.
                  7. Build quality is decent, few parts I felt could have been better.
                  8. Switch gear is decent.
                  9. Paint and Sticker work is good. Engine is not powder coated black. It appears to be painted. Current owners, Do find paint being peeled off?
                  10. No space at all under the seat. (Its always useful to have some space under the seat)
                  12. Alloys are good and made by Enkie.
                  13. Overall a decent bike and must be in the top of list for any 150cc bike buyer.

                    Thats honest one
air-lock will happen in all bike if it is driven till its tank becomes empty

i had 3months old GS... i didnt see any paint peeling off from engine

Service in good in chennai... dunno about hyderabad, hyderabad owners can reply you.

dunno about spares availability, as its very new to say.

now you know the pros and cons of GS (after reading this thread and by the test ride)

so its your decision to choose the bike

                    in my view
GS is for pure commuters..... Xtreme is for sporty commuters

But this helps me making a decision,
My cousin has got the new CBZ xtreme... It was full of vibrations and hard gear shifts... I went along with him for the first service... He told the SC guys abt everything.... When the bike was out of the 1st service everything remained unchanged... The same problems were there... And those guys rectified nothing... Oil change and water wash was for 310
Maybe the SC is not good... Just dont go by HH blindly

And for the suzuki spares and service... I had trouble with gear shifts and gear indicator... They fixed it in a giffy... Go by ur heart and not by ur mind when it comes to choosing a bike (Its my personal opinion)

                      • @alkemyst: Pilot lamps a.k.a position or parking lights.

@riazmomin: Nice review. I was also in a similar predicament as you&had a test ride of the GS. Was considering selling off my R15&Fiero F2&settling for the GS a few weeks back. Decision cancelled. Not that GS is a bad bike, but I can't bring myself to riding anything other than my R15 to office daily. So, have kept the R15 for myself&Fiero F2 for taking Mom around nearby. Gf is slowly settling down on the R15 itself. Trust me, its pillion seat is pretty good, only no ladies footrest, I have explored the option of adding one-the FZ ladies'footrest should be compatible. I say, try seeing whether your wife can adjust on the R15. But if your elbow doesn't support it anymore, then no point in taking the trouble.

Anyways, since you asked for a comparo of the R15&GS, here it is:
Being a commuter, the GS is designed to deliver power consistently, unlike the R15, whose racing instinct brings out the power only at a certain 'sweet spot' RPM range. I say: If you do ride a commuter, ride it like a commuter, not like you ride the R15.
If you can ride it that way, I feel the GS should be very good in city as well as for highway runs, but the top end speed will obviously be missing. It should be pretty unstressed till 100 atleast.
I did not like the pillion seat much (no doubt better that the CBZ-Xtreme, where the pillion keeps slipping forward). I felt it could have been lowered a bit. Same was the case with the handlebar-I felt it was more like the Unicorn's handlebar, whereas the CBZ-Xtreme has a natural relaxed handle position.
Ergo arrangement was fabulous on the GS&I don't wanna talk about the fancy stuff-everyone already knows it. Should be even better for taller guys, no problem on that front.
Handling&weight: It is not really as heavy as it seems on standstill-handling was pretty good, in fact I felt it has a smaller turning radius compared to the CBZ-Xtreme. Can't really call it flickable, but Hey! Who flicks around a commuter?
Overall I would say it is certainly a good buy for you, if you are keen on the 150 executive commuter segment since you have already owned the CBZ-X.
On the other hand, if the power does not satisfy you, I would suggest you consider the Karizma if you plan to continue touring even after your marriage. Both these bikes will be more or less similar in the city, I don't need to tell you about the ZMA on the highway.

                        • my first bike

hi. today i got my black GS (colour changed from orange). and it was raining heavily here when i ride it from showroom to my home.. so full of mud on it. and my bike skids when i unknowingly on boulders, i put down my bike.. got small scratch on edge of handle bars.. is there any way to change it??

and i too got that small vibrations when it is around 3 rpm.. but not always. and my engine sound also differs bit.. at first it was gud. is that any fault in bike.. apart from that. i am not all feel any weight of that bike. its really cool. and about brakes.. for me its very comfortable. progressive.. i like that.. since i am new to bike.. i felt bit hard to put straight stand.. always it takes min. three attempts.. i think it requires some practice. and that rear seat is really high.. even i cant rest my foot on the ground properly... apart from that i love this bike. btw can anyone tell me how to check the mileage.. i have filled 12.3 lit.. and odo shows 18kms..

Congrads on your new bike. Do be careful when riding in raining conditions. A small scratch would hurt a lot. Check the Kms done from reserve to reserve and divide it by the no. of litres. This will give you the milleage.

                            @riazmomin
Make your requirements clear and then analyze. Hope you read Sam9s's review with his requirements. Then eliminate the ones which does not suite. BTW GS would not put you down in carryin your wife Coz the pillion I feel is also as comfortable as the rider; may be its a bit high. Ladies foot rest comes along with the bike. I got it fitted at first itself

                            @Maniac
Oh that was a harsh decision. I think just a little softness in words will do and no need to stop and thats what everyone meant. Lets forget the past and carry on.

Can someone tell whats the reserve capacity of the bike ? There had been quite a few questinons on this I did not see exact replies.

                              • Its easy to climb pillion seat by putting leg half on the leg rest and half on the saree guard. Thats how my mom sits on behind. Is it ok right ?

I was riding on upward slope with heavy pillion and I felt engine stressed, noisy and vibes were coming. Im sure it was my lack of skill...

                                One query-
how we shd ride on ascending road with heavy pillion (abt 90 kg) ?
what speed at what rpm is recommended in order to keep down rpm below 5k ?

In short, guide to climb ghat areas with heavy pilion in break-in period is required.

@Arun Prasad: congratts dude..! be carefull n rains. ride slow and practise to properly apply disc brakes in rain. Nothning is faulty. Just follow the break-in instructions propelrly. Ride at variable speeds, shift more gears, etc. TObring on main stand, just stay on stand and push it downwards, apply some power with ur legs. Its very easy !!

@riazmomin: U're in similar conditoin I was 3 weeks back !!! I bough GS and Im uncontrollably Happy!!
These days my health is bad, got fever and I haven't ridden my GS for 2 days.. Feeling very unusual
