Have you got the handle bar changed yet ?? even i'm noticing rust in the same place(15 day old bike ).
i have to give it for servicing in the next 10 days so please tell me what all was changed.

      @Vishal
you are really lucky to get your money back. Did u ask them for a refund or shout at them or contact suzuki japan or anything ??
companies usually consider money back only as a last alternative so the way u spoke to them would have definitely influenced their decision.
Did u tell them u'll report to news papers or anything about the bike ?

I had gone to the service centre to check my bike. They were about to install the new parts on my bike & as soon as they opened the new tank box,I was shocked to see the tank mouth already rusted without even usig it a single day. Immediately spoke to service centre manager & informed her about this rusting part.We clicked photographs & sent them to Suzuki Delhi. Meanwhile I was just loitering around & checking out Sanjay Dutt's Hayabusa which was there for delivery. The manager was in continous talks with the Delhi guys & then after sometime I was called in & I spoke with them & they had decided to do a buy back of their bike & give me a full refund.

Even I agreed on that & was ready to take my money back so that I am out of this headache of reporting rusting problems every now & then.I have returned all the documents to them & they have refunded my money back.

I am happy & sad also with this decession.

Happy because I will not have to keep on writing to Suzuki about their product & now I can buy some other bike.

Sad because I do not own a 6 speed gearbox anymore & the public on the road will not give me that look of "Which bike is this?" , "Iski mileage kitni hai?" etc etc. Will not be getting a mileage of 55-57kmpl beacue dont know what I will be riding next.Right now I am riding my Nov 2002 Fiero which returns a mileage of 47-48kmpl.

Ok guys this does not mean that I will not be a part of this thread & that you cannot write to me.I will always be there to help you out guys.

        To all the prospect buyers.

I would suggest all of them to buy this bike because of its smooth engine, high mileage & the best of all is the 6 speed gearbox that the bike has been euipped with. All these are my personal experience of 8800 kms on the odo when the bike was returned back to the company.

Since I had the first lot of the bike which was manufactured,it was bound to have some problems.I have seen the new lot & everything looks fine. Also the company will do more to solve this issue as they have lost another customer because of rusting issue.

I would soon be buying a new ride.Till then I will just hang around here & wil try to help out my friends owing this beautiful machine.

        ALL THE BEST!!!!
WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY & SAFE RIDING.

        Vishal

        Bro....same feelings here....
I am also too feeling happy and sad at the same time reading your post....
I am happy that you got your 100%money back....and sad that now you are not riding the GS anymore...

But bro...that was really good that you got your money back...I think after Mr.Anil...you are the second person to get money back....

How did the Delhi guys deal with it....I mean they just said that they will buy your bike back or you asked them to replace the bike or something...??

Hey Bro...let me know ehich bike you will be going for.... I am just waiting to buy the new GS...when all the problems will be sorted out...but I do not think it will happen soon.....

One suggestion though.....you could wait around for some time....and after the problems are solved you can buy a new GS again.....we both can buy together.....
        What do you say....??

Bro....you ask them to replace everything that has got even a hint of a rust...
Now it is a new bike man.....and it starts rusting...it is really not a good thing....so tell the service centre guys that they replace everything that has a rust...or you will complain to Suzuki people at delhi....
Do not leave any stone unturned....get everything replaced...all other things you can deal with man...but the Rust really spoils the bike....

i'm really hesitant to shout or black mail those people with suzuki delhi.
if those people hate me then in the future they may not service my bike properly or tune it properly etc etc.(they can do many things when u leave it there for servicing)
The handle bar thing i'll show them since its visible more or less.

anyway what do u think i should do about the silencer ??
its a very small spot inside the silencer(near the mouth)
Obviously i would like it replaced, but i dont want to look like an idiot in front of those people at the same time(showing the spot with a torch)

also, tell me what to do about the frame.
Like Mr. Anil's bike my bike has few brown spots on the frame near handle bar and other areas. Initially i thought the paint wasnt proper as it wasnt looking like rust, but now i'm worried if it could be rust itself. there seem to be many spots which dont have black paint on it !!!

            • @imjoshee: Good to know you got a complete refund. I say go for another bike, coz you will be like the saying goes "Once bitten, twice shy"!

@All: You guys freaked me out so much with the rusting thing that I examined my 5 year old Fiero F2 for rust. Found it at 2-3 places, one major where the battery acid had leaked&couple of other minor places under the handlebar etc. Touched it up with black paint&planning to use WD40 for the chrome areas where rust is beginning to show up.

But surprisingly, I didn't find even a trace of rust anywhere in my Dad's friend's bike which we picked up last week.

              • Well, i have some more updates on my bikes rusting
the part of frame where engine is connected to frame, rust is clearly visible,
even the part of frame where horn is joined to frame its visible.
i'm definitely going to show the frame along with handle bar when i go for 1st service.
If these people could atleast paint the frame black without leaving any spots this wouldn't have happened..
now should i ask them to change the frame(i know they will say not possible ) or ask them to properly repaint the frame again ???

the worst part is my bike hasnt run 8k km like vishal's or it wasn't part of the first lot or anything.. its just 350km/15 days !!!!

i have another doubt. who bears the expense of repainting frame or changing parts, is it the SC or suzuki india ??( just to know why SC people keep postponing changing of parts)

other than that there is rust on my handle bar(in the small gap) and a dot of rust inside the silencer(visible only with a torch).

Guys i've noticed many spots on the frame where the paint has may be chipped off, although there is no rust there now, it may start rusting soon, what do i do ?? will they repaint the frame or anything if i show it to them ??
The stand's paint has gone off because of my usage i think....

My bike has rust on the edge of the front shock absorber (On the frame which is painted black). There is also small traces on saree gaurd, on frame near the back brake.

Shud i fix the rust myself or the SC guys do it?

Then do what I did/gonna do: Use WD40 for the chrome areas&take it to a painter or touch up the frame parts yourself!

                          Guru,
The Delhi guy was cool enough while talking & was understanding the problem I was facing with the bike. The buy back decession was taken in by the company itself.I did not give any suggestions. One thing I told them was I am happy with the bike but these persistent rusting problem has changed my mind to keep the bike.

Regarding my new bike, you would have to wait for couple of days, untill you see me on another ownership thread .
                          So till then keep waiting................

Very true Saravjit,I will be buying another bike.Just wait for couple of days for the answer.

Even I own a Nov 2002 Fiero & it does not have rust like the GS150.It has rust at some places but which is negligible & I can do a paint job on it & the rust is gone.

                          Falcon,
I am repeating it here again, give everything in writing to the SC & take an acknowledgement from them.Meanwhile also log on to the site & report the issue there.Click pictures of the rusting part & keep them in your database as records, you might need it someday.

Be calm at the SC but show them that you are very angry on this part since the bike is new & so many problems. You need not worry about the charges,as long as you are getting the new parts installed for FREE.

Dont worry thing will get resolved.

Please do not try to fix this problem by yourself.Your bike is under warranty & so its the headache of the SC & Suzuki India.Like I have mentioned in my above post give everything in writing to each & everyone with whom you interact.

Because the saying is right "THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD" & this is my personal experience.

Got my bike from SC after second service today morning, the bike like butter smooth, gears are smoothest now... i shoud say now my bike is better than the one i took for test ride. Whatever the issues man... i love this bike and i'm completely satisfied.
I have little rust in my tank, the dealer only said that he will replace it, which I never asked for.
Crossed 100 today, the bike is rock solid and you never realize that you are in 3 figure speed unless until you look at the console. I think i'm lucky enough to get a better bike from the lot.

The way the Suzuki guy is interacting with me is quite friendly to which I have no objection.
There are sometimes issues with bikes which are unexplained and which are very irritating and heartbreaking for a new customer. But then the same product works just fine with someone else.

This thread has become a Suzuki GS150R bashing thread and not a complaint thread, a group of people are repeating their problems again and again (its not that i dont empathize).

Please stop this or else I would have to close this thread.

                            Thanks

hey forgot to mention main point. you guys should help me in this

when i am driving bike at 100 km/hr i.e, for few seconds around 40 to 50 sec..

suddenly the enginge gets stopped, i need to await for 1 or 2mins to start again.. can anyone suggest me how to over come this issue..
Have you heard the tic tic sound in a ZMA or another GS? Is your bike making more sound than those? if yes, take this up seriously and push for getting this prob rectified.

I think your engine is overheating. It shouldn't stop even if you run the engine at 100KMPH for a few hours. Yes, I know your bike is still in run-in phase. But still. Pls get all your fuel lines checked. The issue can be anywhere including but not limited to the fuel lines, carb, CDI, spark plug, ... What ever, it is serious.

                              • I remember Diwakar posting a few (hundred ) pages back about the noise issue. Something with having a particular part outside the silencer to help keep the bike its speed on uphill. Other bikes have this part in their silencer, so the noise is not much in those.

Even my bike gives this tick tick sound loudly after 1.5kms run. Don't worry, its normal.
