Great, now if Shell ordinary is also 91 octane, my doubts are the following:
    1. We know that engines with less than 10.0:1 are supposed to run on ordinary fuel (87 octane) only, how come Shell does not have that?
    2. Most of our bikes are coming under the above category, so are people unknowingly filling it just thinking it would do some good to their engines?

    • Hey guys i need your help,
today i went to the SC to show the electric start problem.
he took my bike for a round and said this,
your battery has become low, may be because the brake light turns on even if you just touch the rear brake lever.
and he said my engine is rough also
and he said give your bike for servicing tomorrow
Is it ok to get 1st service done at 400km odo ???
and about 15 days over since i bought it.

and about engine roughness, i dont know why but when i ride the bike it is really smooth for 5km initially, then it becomes rough(i can feel some tappet noise or valve clutter or something even when i hold clutch or idle)
any idea what this could be ???
      please reply fast.
and i dont know what i'll do tomorrow without my bike

any suggestions on how to tell them about rusting issues ??
do i tell them to replace it, repaint it or what ???

Bro...I do not really get it how the battery can become low in 15 days of purchase.....!!!

I have my Pulsar from 3 years and you may not believe it till now it has never been recharged...or anything done to it....
I never got any problems.....for starting....or any other electrical problems...I use the electric starter most of the time....

and also I do not buy the bulls**t that the service guy is saying that the battery became low beacuse the brake lever is sensitive....
come on man.....how many times we apply brakes....in city it is almost every 2-3 mins at the max....I do not believe that the battery became low because you applied more brakes....or the brake lever is sensitive as the SC guy said......!!
Bro there is some problem the battery...so get it replaced...

and as you said you feel the bike rough after 5 km....just check once the level of your engine oil....as the bike is new...and you have not yet given for the first service...it is recommended to change the engine oilafter the first 250kms....so please check it once....and refill the engine oil....
also when you start riding the bike....in the first 5 kms do not rip the bike...keep it in low RPM...and after 5kms increase the speed...

Before delivering a new bike, the service center guys are supposed to charge the new battery for 6-8 hours minimum. I think they failed to do the initial charging properly.

since you dint cause it, Ask for a battery REPLACEMENT,

I have no idea on the engine problem ....

Man... its funny, brakes lights causing battery to drain?? first time i'm hearing that, tail lights are LEDs and believe me, if you directly connect those LED to the battery after charging it, it should last for days together, atleast for 2 days... just dont believe it and get your battery replaced. no other option, regarding engine; check the engine oil level, or simply get it replaced, this might solve the problem.

            • i know brake lights causing discharge of battery is bull ****. i directly told him they are LED's and consume less power and its not possible.
Anyway should i get it replaced ??
charging the battery wont bring it back to normal ??
because he said batery is just low, once we charge it it'll work fine
If there could be permanent damage reply fast, i'll tell him to change it tomorrow.

about engine oil, i think its fine, when i put centre stand the whole window seems to have oil, anyway they will change it during service tomo

Bro...I am not sure about what the SC guy is telling...
OK try one thing....tell them to charge the battery tomorrow full day...and tell them if you face any prblem again reg the battery...they will have to replace it in future....
So once they recharge tomorrow....try it out....if you feel anything is not right regarding the battery after riding for 3-4 days...you get it immediately replaced....

Whether your battery has suffered permanent damage depends on the min. state of charge it reached. If it reached below 75% approx., then the damage due to sulfation will be proportional to its level of discharge. So its possible that 'permanent' damage may have occurred. And it may not be apparent in just 3 - 4 days. If your tail lights are LEDs, then they cannot have been the cause of the battery discharge. Better get your changing system checked. Have you by any chance always driven at night (with headlights on?)

Hey buddy hopefully your batt. issues should not become like my Nova issue . The SC then really aggravated a simple buzzer connection problem.

Btw with regard to engine roughness (which no GS here seems to have), did it happen after the choke running incident. Because POSSIBLY new engine might have got messed up. If you have not reported it, and they find out the engine has some serious issues, then you can opt for a complete replacement .
I am saying this, because for a SC, to say engine is rough, means It Really is rough.
Do checkout any other buddy GS around, after checkup to test smoothness pal

My SC told that my GS has a small rust spot, deep inside tank, needing no replacement. Tell them frankly about ANY issue of rust.

Btw did you try out WD40 . It completely removes rust and further protects. Have tried it on the scratched rusted footpegs of neighbour's Dio and in my house, and next day, its rust-free (you have to spray well and leave it there w/o wiping).
Am completely sure that any rust (tank cavity/ frame/ nuts & bolts) will be zilch with it . Cheerio

                      • Firstly, thanks for all ur support
I called the owner of the showroom/sc and told him about the battery, he said he will check the battery and if anything is wrong give a new one.
the choke incident, i havent told them, should i ??
i thought its better not to tell them, anyway they only concluded the engine is rough when i went for battery prob and not choke
i'm not sure if the roughness was after the choke incident, i've noticed it few times before also,(while riding long distances with pillion like 8-10km after 6km of riding),
it may have become a little worse after the choke incident though

i'll tell u what happens after 1st service(may be evening)
                        bye and thanks

I think if u change the battery it will only affect the warranty of the battery because tyres, tubes, battery, shock absorbers, speedometers etc are warranted by their respective manufacturers. so it wont affect the whole bike..... IMO. don't know about the free services.

To know more about the warranty policy please refer page 10-2 of the owner's manual.

Hey Anoop if u have completed 90 days 4m purchase, then oil ought to be changed, regardless of kms run. At what odo did u have ur 1st service pal ?
Most likely your oil seemed residue-free to the SC mechanic...still he will have no idea when third service comes up...If the 3rd service comes up late, then your unchanged oil is gonna cause issues by then.

Me thinks, ask him reason for no oil change...if its no residue, U can then change it at 2K odo

                              • 2nd Service Experience - A Good One.

                                Hey Guys,

Completed my GSR's 2nd Service Yesterday. And i must Admit it was a Pleasant Experience and i was treated like a King. Was offered Tea Biscuits as well . It really works when you directly get in touch with the Higher Authorities.

                                Here's my Story :-

I had sent an E-mail to Mr. Atul Gupta and Mr. Deepak Saxena in Suzuki Gurgaon regarding my Rusting Issue. Immediately got a Call from Mr. Vipul Goel who assured that he will get the Issue sorted out. The next Day, got a Call from Mr. Vishal who is a Manager at Swargate Suzuki. He told to get the Bike and he will immediately replace the Chain Cover and Fuel Tank free of Cost under Warranty.
Went to the Service Center yesterday for Servicing. Checked out a couple of Grey GSR's for Tank Replacement. Was not that satisfied as they had some minute specs of Rust. He told that he will contact me once he gets the new Lot of Bikes and a confirmation from Suzuki Gurgaon that the Rusting Issue is completely fixed. Chain Cover was replaced under Warranty. He took my Signature on a Satisfaction Form which mentioned that the Chain Cover has been replaced and Fuel Tank will be replaced once the new Bikes are free from the Rust Issue.

                                Observations after 2nd Service :-

                                - The 3.5K Vibes have reduced considerably.
                                - Engine and Gear Shifts have become a tad smoother.
                                - Got the Headlight Beam adjusted downwards, though have not tested it.

Btw, i took a Ride of the Test Drive Bike and it was not in a very Good Condition. The Fuel Tank was completely Brown and Rusted from inside. Took a couple of Pics from my Mobile. Am not posting the Pics and there has been a lot of Bashing regarding the Rust Issue and i might be kicked out by the Moderator .

Have a Couple of Questions :-

                                1) Where can i get WD-40 in Pune?
                                2) I was planning to change the crappy Exide Battery after 2nd Service to a sealed one. Which are the better ones? Can we fix a Amaron Battery on GSR?
If it voids only the Battery Warranty, then it's OK with me. But if it Warranty of the whole Bike is lost, then it's a cause for concern.

Am enjoying every bit of riding my Bike. GSR Rocks !!!
