First of all, raise the warm idling rpm to 1500 and see the result. Another common possibility is water in the fuel tank and carburettor. If the misfiring persists after adjusting the idling rpm, let it be there for a while or clean the fuel tank and carburettor float bowl.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostWhile coming to office today, my GS made an “air blast” (the sound some old Kinetic Hondas make).
As the AFR of your bike was not adjusted earlier, we have more than enough time to check whether it is rich or lean. So, leave it unaltered now and later as suggested by Suzuki.

But has it got something to do with Petrol ?
No issues while starting the bike.. Even shifting to first gear is perfectly fine at morning ... but i dont know why,, after running few kms, its not that easy to put it in first again..(in blocks, signals .. etc) .. . & I am not stomping on the gear lever.. but trying to put the gears as smooth as i can with minimum press ..
Nikhil, I have one question to you.. Yestesday, I travelled estd 123 Kms, I found that in my GS if I full press(100%) the clutch then gear shifting is very hard, but if I half press the clutch(70%-80%) Gear shift is smooth as it was previously. I am not a motorcycle technical person, in my case I think it an issue of clutch play, these need some kind of adjustment in clutch. Please correct me if I am wrong. If this too happening with your GS then..

I bought the GS as my first bike too about one year back .....
I had similar problems. It was just because I was not used to continuously handling the clutch and gears.
I also used to have pains in my left ankle and hand joints. Now it does not affect me that much ...... only in heavy traffic and subsides immediately
just keep at it ..... it will reduce over time.
I dont this there are many postures .... just sit comfortably in a position where your legs properly wrap and fit into the tank contours.
btw ... i am also 5'10" and around the same weight ..... it should have nothing to do with this . GS suits us well
Thanks zoid, yes, I am a new rider and I didnt have a habit of riding motorcycle. I will try as you said, hope this will reduce over time.
Originally posted by punarvasu View PostI was on a 200 kms ride today, starting in the early morning. While coming back, I too have felt this pain on the thump joints.
I think it was due to my habit of keeping my left thump on the horn and the left and right index and middle fingers on the clutch and brake levers, the position of the hands being awkward.
The pain will be reduced when you get used to riding as zoid said or try a different positioning of your hands on the handle bar.
Thanks punarvasu, yes you are correct this is my habit too, hope this will reduce over time as zoid and you said.

trailwright, you are right, because I feel more pain in my thumb joints, when road is not good, as I hold the handle bar more tightly at that time. Thanks

kishorebarik26 ..... just in case there is more space to sit closer to the tank sit more in front (in my case legs fit prfectly around the tank)..... do not try to sit back for sportier position because the seat has lots of space (It may put more strain) .... in my opinion the bike is designed with a seating position touching the tank and is really comfortable.Originally posted by kishorebarik26 View Post

Tyre Upgrade
Hi Guys,
I am looking for a Tyre upgrade for my GSR. I checked Michelin India Sirac for Rs.2000- 100x90x18.
I was looking for a wider Tyre as stability and grip is my main concern.
1.Will a 120x90x18 tyre fit our gsr?
2. Best tyre to choose for grip and stability? Tube tyre is fine with me as i usually ride in city
ThanksLast edited by Sumitdey1; 02-22-2013, 12:05 PM.

Awsome videos

Just happened to come upon these videos. I know they are basically for car engines .... but the videos on Engines have sections on piston, cylinders rings .... overdrive etc.
maked you want to go easy when doing the run in so that the components are well lubricated before you push the engines hard

Normally i too use 100% clutch. But after reading the post, i was trying to use 70%-80%-90% clutch and found the shifting up/down is quite easy .. and is not making any sounds at all. .Originally posted by kishorebarik26 View PostI found that in my GS if I full press(100%) the clutch then gear shifting is very hard, but if I half press the clutch(70%-80%) Gear shift is smooth as it was previously.
There is one another thing.. now my bike is more than 2 months old and i havent recieved the RC Book till now. When checking with the showroom ppl, they used to say I will get it via post from RTO in 2 months time.. Now that its more than 2 months and when i called them yesterday, they are telling I have to go to RTO and get it myself. :@

Did the new GS buyers receive your RC Book ?

I am a new GS buyer and bought it on 10th Dec 12. I received Registration certificate, Insurance papers and service manual from service center after 1 month in January 23rd 2013 at the time of first service.
This Sunday I tighten the Clutch wire of my GS with the help of a local mechanic he just charged Rs. 10, after that I found that gear shift get smoother as before on 100% clutch squeezing and he confirmed that this wasn't a issue of sudden change of petrol, rather frequent using of clutch just loosen the wire which is normal......
Hope info will help you too.

"Query of punarvasu and kishorebarik26 regarding pain in thumb while driving"
I suggest you wear gloves (may be pro-bikers or other such brand) and you won't feel pain in your thumb thereafter.
As for gear shifting problem by a few fellows while in first gear, it is mainly due to too much play in clutch lever and amazingly of late, it is a repeated problem in new bikes ( I also faced this) and had to visit service centre where the clamp/yoke near the engine was removed and refitted at different angle and setting. May be you brind this to the notice of service centre and get it rectified by them.

My gs150r is a Feb 28, 2012, bike. Right from day 1 my bike had hard gears, but Aryan suzuki refused to acknowledge the problem during first 2 services. Even after 3rd service at Value suzuki, the problem was not rectified. It needed lots of force to change gears and sometimes gears would get stuck and refuse to change. I had to ride another 20 meters and try changing gears again.
Finally, i took my bike in again for repairs (not regular service). This time they acknowledged the problem and did some repairs/clutch adjustment, after which the gears changed smoothly. But this smooth gears lasted just 1 week and my hard gear shifting returned. I mailed the suzuki head office and reported the issue.
I again got clutch repair done during 4th service. This time they said they changed clutch plate. After this the gear shifting was better, but was not smooth. It was now notchy, but not hard. But this notchy gear shifts too lasted just few days and hard gears returned again. Then, I got clutch repairs done 3rd time. This time they changed clutch bearing, and gear shifts became really smooth.
By this time, my bike was 8 months old. Only then i realized i had been riding a brand new bike with defective clutch and so I did not enjoy the full potential of gs150r for 8 months. Anyway, i was happy they they finally were able to solve the hard gears problem.
According to some members on this forum, i later came to know some batch of gs150rs sold in beginning of 2012 had defective clutch bearing. They had even recommended boring holes in clutch sleeve, but i didnt know what that is. Instead of us telling suzuki service persons, it is better for suzuki to instruct its own service personnel.
First of all, such defective parts being put in new bikes points to lack of quality control at suzuki. Secondly, they refuse to acknowledge the problem for 4 months. Thirdly, they took another 4 months and 3 repairs to rectify the problem.
But now after 3 repairs for clutch, my bike suffers from oil leakage. Seems like they did not use new gaskets after repairing the clutch. I reported this oil leakage during 6th service; the oil leakage was parlty fixed.
But still there is slight oil leakage from bike, about 5-6 drops a day. We leave bike in service to solve one problem, but they create new problems during service. All i can say is the gs150r is an excellent bike, but suzuki service is pathetic service and no better than the other companies.. But suzuki head office responds to complaints posted on their website, that is the positive thing.
If anybody have any complaints, post on suzuki website. If you remain silent, your problem will not be solved.
And those of you who recently purchased gs150r in bangalore. You will not get an RC book. You will get a smart card by post after 1 month of purchase.
People reporting misfiring (sudden "phaat" sound like firecracker). Water getting into fuel tank can cause this. Ensure that you press your fuel tank lid properly and tightly close it. Also, try filing fuel from a different bunk. Most probably, adultrated fuel is the cause of misfiring.Last edited by antonysg; 03-04-2013, 01:28 AM.

Clutch related problem is rare problem in new bikes and is critical problem as its mounted alongside of engine and gear set , SUZUKI should address this issue instead of SC's , please ensure to do proper check up while taking delivery after repairs ( and strictly in case of major operation). Hard Gear shifting is also related to oil.Originally posted by antonysg View PostHi Guys.

Regarding that 'phaat' sounding its related to tunning (it was present in all bikes & scoots which i was rididng and used to tune carb myself) please tune it from ASC only.

Faulty clutch
Hi All,
Some of you would remember that I had put on record here that I was facing complaint in my clutch eversince I bought this bike in October, 12. The clutch lever used to get too much play every now and then resulting in hard gear shift. After a couple of repeated complaints with the service centre [Gayatri Suzuki (Dilshad Garden, Delhi)] they removed the yoke/clamp and refitted it at a different angle and the problem seems to have been solved. BUT, THIS WAS NOT TO BE. The same problem came back very shortly.
Today, when I took my bike for its 3rd service at Gayatri Service Centre, Dilshad Garden, Delhi and brought this problem of clutch problem
to their notice, they asked for Rs.100 as charges for checking the clutch and quoted an additional minimum amount of Rs. 600 as some minor part in the clutch bearing might have to be replaced. If the clutch plates needed to be replaced, then I would have to further part with the cost of the clutch plates).
As to my knowledge, my bike was only 4 1/2 months old and it was still under warranty period and as such I need not have to pay any money for replacement of the faulty parts. When they did not agree to my answer, I asked them to give everything in writing to me so that I could place their reply to the notice of Suzuki Company fellows. NOW THEY CHANGED THEIR STANCE and said that since they can not open the clutch section of the new bike without getting permission from Suzuki Company, they will send an e.mail to them and place this issue before the company higher officials and hoped that they would get a reply within 4-5 days. (tomorrow being holiday and Tuesday being closed day for Service Centre).
Now, I have been asked to come back with the bike on Wednesday i.e. 6th March, 2013.
NOW, WOULD I HAVE TO PAY ANY AMOUNT IF ANY PART IN THE CLUTCH NEEDS REPLACEMENT ? WHAT DO YOU SAY ???????????? PLEASE REPLY (I have got the bike serviced at due dates so far)Last edited by Hoodibaba; 03-02-2013, 06:39 PM.

Those parts should be covered under warranty and they are not suppose to ask you for the cost. They are bluffing that they need to take the permission from "suzuki company officials". Why wouldn't you try other SVCs for second opinion.Originally posted by Hoodibaba View Post

Being it suzuki or kawazaki certain parts are called as FRU and consumablesOriginally posted by Hoodibaba View PostNow, I have been asked to come back with the bike on Wednesday i.e. 6th March, 2013.

FRU refers to frequently replaceable unit: such as clutch cable, mud flap, brake cable and few more
Consumables are break oil, engine oil and like those
for FRU and consumables customer has to pay even if the bike is with in warranty period
but the part (clutch related bearing) cant be damaged by a enduser like u or me if it is manufacturing defect suzuki should replace it free of cost
and even for checking the clutch they should not charge as your bike is still in warranty
post your complaint in detail on suzuki website and facebook page as well, hope they will respond asap
if not our so called one and only authorized suzuki representative of this forum will respond back to you
