  • Thanks Fadeawayraj and MSN 1 for your positive response.

In fact I have already received SOS call from the Service Centre, to pick up my bike from my residence for repairs free of cost. In fact I lodged a complaint today at around 1.00 p.m. with the SDuzuki Company and the SOS from the Service Centre came at 3.00 p.m. Since I am in office at present so they would pick up my bike from my residence tomorrow morning for repairs. Hope they will not have sleepless night.

In fact the mechanics have a strong say in that service centre and I had specifically mentioned this point in my complaint giving a clean chit to the managers and incharge.

Will come back on this log after I get my bike repaired. Would also thank the Suzuki Company after the work is done to my satisfaction.

    Thanks again.

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GETS GOING

    • Hi X-Bhpians..I have been a silent visitor to this forum/thread for the past 7 months, would like to thank all the members for their valuable suggestion regarding this wonderful machine from Suzuki, which had really helped me to know about this bike very well. I bought GS150R Orange black on Sep 14 2012 at SMK Suzuki Velachery, so far completed 5600 Kms with few highway rides on this beast. 3 services were completed and so far I faced very few issues which I listed below

      1. Petrol was flowing through overflow tube when there is little amount(2-3 litres) of fuel on tank a couple of times between 1-2 service and it was resolved by the SVC guy at SMK. Just want to know what could be the cause?

      2. I could hear some('Kreech') kind of noise from disk brake at several times. Quite weird about it :-(

      3. I recently had a long ride to Javadi Hills from chennai along with a pillion and the top speed I could acheived was 104Km/h@7000RPM. Couldn't go beyond that and had few jerks after crossing 95 Km/h. This really made me to doubt the engine capacity of the bike. Anyone had faced these kind of issues?

Even i had problems with the clutch in my gs150r purchased on Feb 28, 2012. They initially refused to acknowledge the problem during regular service. They even blamed by riding style. But the hard gear shifts became worse and finally they accepted the problem. They carried out 3 repairs for clutch. First they did some adujstement, second time they changed clutch pressure plate, and the third time they changed clutch bearing. Only after changing clutch bearing the hard gear shifts problem was solved.

A batch of gs150r sold in beginning of 2012 had this defective clutch bearing problem. Despite knowing this fact, they took 5 regular services and 3 repairs to solve this problem. All parts were replaced under warranty, as i used to complain on suzuki website.

Unless you complain on suzuki website, they will not even try to solve the problem during service.

Also, now after 3 clutch repairs, my bike is leaking oil. I reported this during 6th service, but oil leake was only partly fixed. Still there is some oil leakage, about 5-6 drops a day. I am going to take up the issue during next service. You leave bike for service, but they seem to create more problems. Really, having to complain repeatedly is not a nice thing to do, but what option do i have. Suzuki service force us to write to head office.

By the way, suzuki has changed their website layout. You can now register your bike on their website to probably get better service maybe.

Wow.. The new website looks great.. more attractive, bigger pics and nice layout. Looks like atleast now, suzuki cares about how ads and websites influence their sellings.. Earlier, it was rather difficult to see the image of GS150 in the site, but now, its well and clear.. they could have added a 360 degree view aswell..

          • Whena SINGLE E.Mail to SUZUKI can do miracle to Your Bike

Some of you would remember that I had put on record here that I wasfacing complaint in my clutch ever since I bought Suzuki GS 150 bike inOctober, 12. The clutch lever used to get too much play every now and thenresulting in hard gear shift. After a couple of repeated complaints with theservice centre [Gayatri Suzuki (Dilshad Garden, Delhi)] they removed theyoke/clamp and refitted it at a different angle and the problem seems to havebeen solved. BUT, THIS WAS NOT TO BE. The same problem came back very shortly.

On 2.03.13, when I took my bike for its3rd service at Gayatri Service Centre,Dilshad Garden, Delhi and brought this problem of clutch problem to theirnotice, they asked for Rs.100 as charges for checking the clutch and quoted anadditional minimum amount of Rs. 600 as some minor part in the clutch bearingmight have to be replaced. If the clutch plates needed to be replaced, then Iwould have to further part with the cost of the clutch plates).

As to my knowledge, my bike was only 4 1/2 months old and it was still under warrantyperiod and as such I need not have to pay any money for replacement of thefaulty parts. When they did not agree to my answer, I asked them to give everythingin writing to me so that I could place their reply to the notice of SuzukiCompany fellows. NOW THEY CHANGED THEIR STANCE and said that since they can notopen the clutch section of the new bike without getting permission from SuzukiCompany, they will send an e.mail to them and place this issue beforethecompany higher officials and hoped that they would get a reply within 4-5days.(next day being Sunday and Tuesday being closed day for Service Centre).

NEXT DAY (being Sunday) at 2.00 p.m. from my residence, I sent an e.mail toSuzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited and stated the above facts with somedetails about my touring done so far and the travelogues I had written on Xbhp, and other sites.

As I had to attend office even on Sunday, I reached office and, to my surpriseat 4.00 p.m.,(within 2 hours) I got an SOS call from the Service Centreat Dilshad Garden asking for my home address as they were instructed from theSuzuki HQs to pick up my bike from my residence immediately and rectify all thefaults free of cost. Since the bike was with me at my office, I asked them totake my bike from my residence next day (Monday), which they did and afterdoing all the repair work, delivered the back at my residence in the eveningwith lot of apologies for the trouble I was put to by the mechanics.

Till now it seems trouble free.Although it may be too early to come to a conclusion, but I am optimistic asthey had done all the necessary repairs which they could). I had to pay for thecost of Engine Oil and filter (Rs.273/-) which they are justified to claim. (They have replaced the pressure plates and some alterations/repairs in the clutch bearing)

TO CONCLUDE: Don't waste your energy by arguing with the mechanics at theservice centre, but knock at the right door with complete documents/proofs. A WORD OF APPRECIATION FOR THE SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED. If the officials at the higher are so attentive to hear to the grievances, that to too quickly, the Company definitely has a bright future. Good After sales service appears to be right on their agenda with highest priority. I hope it filters down to the level of mechanics at service centres as well.

Good that you got the response and issues seem to be resolved and hope they never crop up again.

I too got the Hard gear shift problem rectified the same way as you got but unfortunately for some of the members on this forum, even these email to SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED didn't yield any positive results. Guess some are just lucky to get the right support after escalating/sending email to Suzuki). But BEST TO TRY incase of no proper support from SVCs as you said.

If any gs150r owners have any problem with bike, and if the problem is not resolved by service center, please report your propblem to suzuki head office via this link

Hopefully, you will get better service from service center after reporting problem to head office.

If you remain silent, dont expect problems to be solved by service center. Service centers just want to do waterwash and return your bike as soon as possible without spending any time solving technical problems.

                  • 1. Reached Maestro's record of 139 kmph. Did not try to go higher. The bike performs well after warming the engine over 20+ kms.
                    2. The gear shifts are very comfortable after overhauling the clutch. But the con of that change is a false neutral that I get everytime I want to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. This happens in all RPMs and clutch positions. I have to shift twice to reach 2nd gear from 1st gear.
                    3. The front brake of the bike has really saved me from a bunch of idiot drivers and bikers of the road.
                    4. Got the carb tuned by a mechanic recommended to me by a few people. Now, the FE I get varies between 45-55 and is highly sensitive to the type of riding.

Good to see that are lot of people are buying the buy despite the price hike this year. Try getting the gear hub checked under warranty if you have hard shifts.
It's sad to see that the blue colour has been stopped.

Finally, if any new buyer thinks the bike is not as good as it should be, remember, this is a Suzuki. You need to "wake up" the bike with a few kms of riding before the bike wakes you up with its performance.

                    • well written reviews

good to read recent well written rare reviews about our bike from bike advice .

It has become a common phenomenon tat non users of this beast still not able to believe that our bike can easily reach 120 km/h and can deliver up to 60 km/l when ridden properly.

Engine RPM divided by overall gear ratio in which the bike moves gives the revolution of the rear wheel in a minute and 60 times of it is the revolving per hour.

The diameter of the 100/90-18 tyre is 457.2 mm (18 inches) plus 180 mm (twice the height of the sidewall of the tyre) = 457.2 + 90 + 90 = 637.2 mm. So its circumference (π times d) is 637.2 x 3.141592654 is 2001.82284 mm which is equal to 0.00200182283886755 kms.

The overall gear ratio (primary gear ratio x final gear ratio x the ratio of the gear in which bike moves) is (73/21) x (41/14) x (20/24) is 8.48356009070295.

So, the rear wheel of our bike at 10000 engine rpm spins (engine rpm divided by overall gear ratio) 10000/8.48356009070295 = 1157.3 times in a minute and 69437.83 times in an hour.

In fewer words, engine rpm/overall gear ratio x diameter of the tyre x 60 is the speed per hour of the bike at that rpm.

This means our bike moves at a speed of 63.71 kmh at 4500 rpm, 84.95 kmh at 6000 rpm and 139 kmh at 9818 rpm. This too is not sharp figures.

Please remember that this calculation is merely theoretical and if the value of pi is taken as 22/7, the diameter and speed calculated changes. Same is the result when the overall gear ratio change due to wearing of the sprocket teethes.

One more fact to consider here is the loss in the transmission, difference in tyre diameter to low inflation, wearing, load on it, clutch slippage, slippage of the tyre on road etc. and the final result is that the actual speed on road is very less than what is calculated.

So, reaching 139 kmh speed on speedometer may perhaps be true but reaching that actual on road speed on a GS in any gear is impossible unless it is revved above 12000 or more rpm. Is it possible as GS is not designed to be revved up to that?

Let us be a little more reasonable as we are not kids and as this is a discussion open to anyone in the world even without registering as a member.

                        • Hi All,

                          Need a small help here.

My Friend's GS completed 3 years yesterday with only 5500 Kms in ODO.

After switching the Engine ON, the rpm raises to 4000 RPM immediatley.

Tried to idle the RPM but engine dies off. Even after several attempt, either the engine dies off or the rpm goes very high all of a sudden.

To fix this issue, he tried to drain the petrol in CARB before cleaning the CARB and messed up with the AFR screw instead of Drain Screw. CARB cannot be removed as it is very tight. The petrol we drained later was full of rust.

Note: We are yet to remove the CARB and open it. We just drained the Petrol in CARB.

Now we are getting smoke from the exhaust badly.

What is the difference between the WhiteSmoke and Black one ? What does that indicate.

Mechanic suggesged to change Acclerator wire, Choke Wire and AFR screw. I do not find any issues in the Choke Wire or the Accelerator. Maybe we are getting fooled.

                          Please suggest asap.

Also will there be rust in the tank. I cound not find any when looking through the Petrol tank lid. It is a March 2010 model. Can that be raplaced if so ?

How long has the bike been kept on a stand still.?

Follow the DIY on cleaning the petrol tank. Next, take out the carb by following the DIY. About the air fuel screw. If he hasn't over tightened it and has only loosened it, it shouldn't be an issue. In case he over tightened it, the A/V screw will have to be changed, even the carb might have to be changed if it is damaged.

Black smoke is petrol burning (maybe due to a choke, rich mixture or petrol over flow issue). White/bluish smoke is oil burning.
You guys seem to have screwed it , and yes there may be rust if the bike has been kept unused for a long time, then petrol breaks down to a brownish gooey stuff that may jam the float and cause these issues. And when drained it looks rusty brown color.

Get the carb removed and cleaned throughly. Replace the parts mentioned by mech to have a piece of mind. And also get the petrol tank and petcock cleaned thoroughly!! It definitely looks like a bad choke or float mechanism to me.
I wouldnt advice you guys to again do a DIY, so rush to the svc and get it fixed.

                              • Thank you Aditya and S1D for your quick replies.

He used the bike only between service center and home
Not more than 10 kms in a week and some short rides once in few months. I remember the bike running with no issues last month.

The mechanic was unable to remove the Carb. He had a plan of breaking the Carb Clamp I believe. He even told to buy that from SC. We got the Carb clamp as well.

We will clean the Carb (no DIY as we have no more time for this) and will update the forum.

I mayneed further help in removing the rust from Tank. Will update you guys. Thanks for now.
