My 12000 km old bike givingme anxious moments with Bike starting when switched off at signals. This is not occurring regularly, like one in five times.
When i press the ignition button it gives no response with no sound from starter motor.( she comes to life in one kick)
I shortlisted few potential causes
1) Faulty engine kill switch
2) faulty starter motor
3) Battery ( but i ride my bike every day and i m sure my bike has one of the loudest horn)
4) Faulty wire of joint which connects the starter motor
5) faulty clutch setting
I really have no confidence on SVC guys to show patience to diagnose the problem as its happening rarely. so want to find it out myself
So friends plz help me to find out the root cause of the problem.

1. Check the battery in the morning with a multimeter and ensure the voltage is above 12.4 or get the specific gravity of the electrolyte checked at the SC. Another easier way is honking the horn in the morning and listen its sound without starting the bike. Even if the battery is not causing this starting problem, checking the level of charging and cleaning the terminals is a good practice.Originally posted by newfan View PostWhen i press the ignition button it gives no response with no sound from starter motor.( she comes to life in one kick)
2. Clean the starter switch, engine kill switch and the switch on the clutch lever with WD-40.
This will solve the problem; I hope.

A few days i too had the starter problem. So took my bike to a lical mechanic he told me will have to change the battery. So took it to another mechanic nad he told me the water level is too low in the battery. He charged the same and also filled up the water level. Now it is fine. Also the throw of my headamp has increased.
Also what point should we keep in the and check when giving our bike for serviving.

Buddy first get your battery checked from the local mechanic. The other day i had kept my bike battery for charging i drove my bike without the same. All things worked except headlights. So i think maybe the battery is the issue.Originally posted by newfan View PostMy 12000 km old bike givingme anxious moments with Bike starting when switched off at signals. Looks like you're not the only GS owner facing this problem. Though I lived with it for 4 months, it's a very minor issue and can be fixed by SC guys. I suppose your battery is in good condition. The problem in my case was with the starter switch that gets activated only when we squeeze the clutch lever / engage the clutch. Notice the thick black wire that lies midway between the clutch cable and the handlebar. If you pull out the other end of this cable, you get access to plugs. The problem in your case could be this cable or the plugs. Get it checked at an automotive electrician if your regular ASC couldn't fix this!Suzuki GS150R 2009

This is really sad... Btw there was one in borivali also... is that closed too?Originally posted by sagarupadhyay View Postmira road..
i got a msg from service centre...thats really a bad sign...i m visiting a local mechanic since past two times...this time i will have to go to mira road svc...just because i want to buy 2 pieces of oil filter and each piece of cluth cable and throttle cable(incase i need them in emergency i can ask my local mechanic to fit them..instead of taking a day off from work and go to mira road svc)
So all Western Side will have to go either to Andheri or Mira Road?? Its better to service it by local Mechanic...___________________________________________

Used to have similar issue in my slingshot, not sure about GS but my bike needs clutch held even if the bike is in neutral, there is a switch at the clutch lever to ensure clutch is held, this switch might malfunction occasionally causing self not to work, sometimes releasing the clutch a tiny bit helps, any way mine was fixed in first service.Originally posted by newfan View PostMy 12000 km old bike givingme anxious moments with Bike starting when switched off at signals. Is WD-40 the same spray which was used earlier to clean tape-recorder head
I am really thrilled to find that GS-150R mileage poll follows a normal distribution curve!!

No . Isopropyl alcohol was used for tape head cleaners. WD-40 is a proprietory formulation that consists of a water-displacing (hence the WD in the name) solvent and light lubricant oil in an aerosol propelant . A similar product in our markets is zorrik . You'll find it in large hardware stores .Originally posted by newfan View PostIs WD-40 the same spray which was used earlier to clean tape-recorder head ..

I will surely check the diagram at the service centre and the link was a good help. Thank you Punarvasu! :-)Originally posted by punarvasu View Post

Toolkit and Owner's Manual were provided to me during delivery of the bike but any recent owner of GS can help you about the current list.
Tool kit details:
a) Tool bag
b) open end wrench (8mm x 10mm)
c) open end wrench (12mm x 14mm)
d) Screwdriver (star and flat)
e) Socket wrench (16mm)
f) Box wrench - (17mm)
g) Box wrench - (22mm)
h) Box wrench - (27mm)
h) Clamp wrench
I seriously doubt about the Wiring diagram.
You are right, the diagram is not provided. I have checked the tool box thoroughly and am posting a picture of my new, next generation model in few minutes. :-D
