Cool Vulcan, you have maintained your bike exceptionally well and I am particularly impressed with the seat cover.

    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Utterly disappointed with the jumping and shaking on my bike, I took it again to the Service Center yesterday. In the previous visit, they had asked me to come back after riding another 300 kms.

After about 2 hours of checking the bike for issues, multiple test drives, they just said it is normal and there is nothing wrong. I had asked them to change the bearing on the front wheel and they have agreed to do it but were out of stock of bearings. My next availability would be during the first week of June and I had agreed to club this along with my second service.

Whilst I was there at the SC, I asked them for a test drive on all the GS150 that they had. I should admit that the 2010 model bike that I test drove was butter smooth. After all the test drives, I am convinced that the rear wheel heats up on all these bikes. Maybe it is just made that way. Something for Suzuki to look at as the other brand bikes do not have this issue.

Also I wanted to reduce the engine idling RPM as mine was set at 1700. Punarvasu had suggested 1300 - 1400 to resolve my engine diving issue which would also be clubbed with the second service.

I have in the past 2 weeks started feeling that when the engine hits about 4K RPM in any gear, the engine stutters and feels like it is running out of fuel but as I change gears or if I rev up, the problem vanishes. I cannot cruise smoothly at 4K RPM on 6th gear. I would have to maintain a bit higher or downshift to 5th gear because between 4 to 4.5 K RPM, the engine feels like its running out of fuel. Could anyone sense what could be wrong with this. Should I clean the carb or should I change the fule pipe. Anything else that I should particularly look out for? Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Venky

See if loosening up the rear brakes so that there is a bit more play to it helps. My rear wheel doesn't heat up anymore though I used to have this problem when I bought the bike as well.

            Hi guys,
Six months ago i got admission in pune for higher studies and had to go there. As i am from Kerala, i had to shift 1600+ KM away from my home. So guess what, i had to store my bike properly before leaving. So as usual, searched internet and owners manual for proper procedures for storing bike and as it is said in the manual, i cleaned bike, drained old oil and filled engine with new engine oil (5-6 L), removed spark plug and poured 1tsp of oil into the engine through spark plug hole, filled tiers with proper air pressure, removed the battery, put the bike in center stand, turned the handle to the left, locked the bike and covered it with cloth.
After six months when i returned to my home, the bike looked pretty much same as i left it. I cleaned it, drained oil and filled with new one, fitted new spark, oil filter and air filter. After that i removed the seat and found that the wires for different electrical equipment are cut into pieces by rat. So i had to repair it before trying to start the vehicle. Charged battery and fitted it on bike.
When the bike refused to start i checked the petrol supply by turning the drain screw of the carburetor. Then the disaster struck. The float valve got stuck open and petrol won't stop flowing through the drain valve of the carburetor. So removed carburetor dismantled it, cleaned it and assembled it. While cleaning i found yellowish dirt inside the carburetor Some of this dirt was blocking minute holes which is connect to different circuits of the carburetor.
After fitting the carburetor to the bike, multiple kicks did't start the bike. So i become disappointed. Finally i decided to try self start. For my surprise, bike started in just a single push of the button and started to idle smoothly.

            So here is my problem.

Few days after, i took it for a long ride through the hills and found the bike accelerates better and reaches its top speed in the highway than in the high range areas. Is it normal for our bike? or is it due to overheating? If any of you guys have an idea about this problem please share.

I remember reading somewhere about this but not 100% sure. Someone who is very sure can correct me if I am wrong.

In high altitudes, the density of air is much thinner than in the plains. Also the Oxygen is less in the air because of which the combustion is slower. Very similar to humans, we can run longer and faster in plains as compared to hills.
I am sure all vehicles suffer in terms of acceleration and top speed at high altitudes.

The tank has a 16 litre fuel capacity (it can hold more but not recommended to fill more than 16 including 3.5 litre reserve). Assuming an economy of 45 kmpl, this should run ~700 kms from reserve to reserve.

PS: However in India, we surely can find petrol stations at least once in 70 kms.

Gave my bike for third service day before yesterday..and got it back yesterday evening...

didnt had any issues / complaints while giving for service.... only thing was a qweek qweek sound from the disk brake...

But the total bill amount was 517 rs .. (dont you think its quiet extra for a free service? )
                        they charged
                        Oil Filter - 40
                        Engine Oil - 280
                        Battery Maintenance - 15
                        Chain Lubrication - 80
                        Consumables - 40
                        + VAT

The service was done @ Aryan Suzuki, Domlur..

They seem to have leaked some petrol, coz, it was just 10 kms in reserve when i gave it there, but when i took it back, the fuel meter started blinking.. ( @ 10 kms !!)

another thing, they haven't even checked the tyre pressures.. instead of 25 - 33 , it was 23 - 22 in the front and rear tyres respectively..I was really shocked to see this when checking tyre pressure @ a fuel station..

The qweek sound was not there when i collected my bike from SC.. but today morning on my way to office, i heard that sound while moving @ approx 10 - 15 kmph ..

Not really comfortable with the service center guys..

Which service center would you guys, the other owners suggest in bangalore which is not that far for me..(am staying near Madiwala) ? Where do you ppl give it for service ??

                              Hi Nikhil,
I also given my GS for third service today here in Howrah, Susmita Automobiles. But it seems that your service centre guys changed you some extra bucks.
Here my Service Center they charged me total Rs. 345.

                              Engine oil- 245 (Castrol 20-40)
                              Oil filter -50
Grip Cover -50( this is extra as per my wish)

Thats it nothing else. Please ask your service center why they changed extra.

                              Kishore K
                              Thanks
