Re: clutch cable can be replaced with local inner cable alone for time being ( i have done that and used it for a month before replacing with original one)and no original inner clutch cable aka wire available alone, it has to be replaced with the clutch cable (outer and inner cable)

as a set would cost you some where close to 150 or 200 bucks

GS can be started with out clutch but that needs a tricky / and bit risky way, i have did that. if you hold the clutch leaver it will trigger that wire to on position and that way bike can be started

please read the manual front focus lamp can be adjusted with out removing the doom using the + screw below the doom

i cant complete with out OT :and here is the OT tonight, below lines are what i have read from the mind of someone whos famous here

showroom. Please let me know how i should maintain the bike(stuff like what kind of petrol to be used, optimum speed before first service and any other tips which would be helpful for a newbie like me)

      Thanks in advance.
      Hi vj245,
Please check for the scratches. Most of the scratches won't be visible. Mine had a scratch on the headlight. Though I noticed it late.
The more you push the more accessories you get. Try to push as much as you can.
Take a drive before signing out the form in the showroom. The service center guys would be in a rush to push the bike. So take your time completely check the bike before taking out for delivery.

The gear shift was too tight for me on Day 1, I thought that this is the normal case with a new bike. The next day I told them, they adjusted the clutch cable after that the gear shift became butter smooth.

In addition to what Nikhil has mentioned you could also try ESSAR petrol bunks.

Between I got my bike on Apr 14, 2013. Paid on Apr 13 got it the next day
I don't think there is any waiting time for GS

Where are you located. What was the On road price quoted.?

There is a post by a user fadeawayraj in this thread, most of the information is covered in this

Hi punarvasu/ vishnu as i know you.. Yeah long time done 17 k in 23 months. Bike doing really well still servicing at svc cause i fear handing it to some local mechanic would fuss it out... I suppose that still suzuki spares are not available outside .
Yeah bike riding is smooth in city and rocks on highways. And as u said punarvasu it got smoother as i rode it all this time. Very much satisfied with my decision. No regrets.

When should i change my bike tyres and which one you suggest? Still on stock....

And punarvasu have you changed to full dc with hid or some other bulb? or just adjusting the focus is enough?
            Take care

Had a great ride last day.. it was just a short one with 12 kms.. but still I loved it a lot..

I was riding at a speed of 80-s here in a flyover that is 10 kms long (From silkboard to EC). maybe after 7-8 kms, I saw an unicorn getting closer to overtake me. I gave side for it to pass and saw that the unicorn was gaining more speed. Simply I gave little more throttle and was then riding at a speed of approx 100 kmph. Then I saw through mirror that unicorn trying to overtake me again.. Very very slowly and hardly, it overtook me (I was at approx speed of 103 kmph) and i think he was using the full throttle. (and he was riding alone without any pillion.)

Once he overtook me, I checked the mirror and moved the bike to his right side. Then increased the throttle and i was cruising at 109 kmph and overtook that unicorn far better than how he overtook me.. (and as always, i was riding with a pillion rider). There is a lot of wind on that flyover and it is kind of hard to get some speed on it. After overtaking and going for few more meters, i slowed down to 80's and allowed him to get past me

Really happy with this incident.. and much more happy about the bikes performance.

(my normal riding speed is 55-63 kmph and wont take higher speed unless i make sure it is safe, have good road ahead, and definitely, with minimum traffic.)

Our bikes parts are still not available outside.

Suzuki suggests tyre replacement when the tread depth is less than 1.6 mm but I think replacing it a bit earlier – at least when the tread depth is just above 2 mm – is safer.

There is a tread wear indicator moulded in the grooves of the tyre. Replace the tyre just before it wears down to that level.

I have covered 31,500 kms on the stock tyres and it seems the tyres are ‘healthy’ for some more thousand kms.

In my experience, the stock Zapper Y is good on dry and wet roads but skids on gravel as any other hard or soft compound tyre does. I have escaped from a number of collisions but a skidding on gravel resulted breaking my laptop’s display, sunglass, camera, phone and pillion rider’s leg bone.

There may be better tyres; I am not sure which one is better.

I am using 55-60 watts Osram Night Breaker; not HID. If the light is not enough, convert to full DC and fit an Osram NB or Philips Xtreme Vision.

You can adjust the beam but cannot alter the focus. The upper beam is inevitable at least when going through sharp right turns to see the road shoulder and hence lowering the high beam is not wise. So, make the bike full DC and use any good 50-60 watts bulb and adjust the beam as shown here. Our 7 ampere battery is enough even after converting to full DC.

If somebody tries to overtake, let him go. He may be hurriedly looking for a toilet.

Off course with small 5 to 10 minute breaks on dhabas and a 1/2 hour stop at a Dhaba to get rid of some miscreants (may be) who followed me at dead of night enroute Lucknow from Gorakhpur and the longest break of nearly 1 hour near Bareily, when I was getting sleep bouts due to bad condition of roads.

Gr8 ride. 5K+ distance in 13 days >> average of 420 KM daily.
Its a tough ride but you and GS both are achieved. Good going GS.
