    3. Ask svc guys to lubricate the gear lever hinge and adjust it (depth-wise).
the rust is not very prominent yet so will ask for a replacement if it starts to spread, until then will try to stop it,so just wanted to ask how the 2t oil be applied?

yes i understand that but the clutch was adjusted to make the gears smooth

i told them that but they said the lubrication is fine so no need for it,so now looking for any other suggestions i can make to them, all three times they just adjusted the clutch to different settings.

    • A Xbhp Moderator was on a visit to our city today........he is known on Xbhp by the name of MG Biker 1806.He rides a Pulsar220 and a Karizma and have ridden numerous other bikes big(multicylinder) and small and had done tremendous long rides. Now, today when I went to meet and hang out with him,I gave him my GS150R to ride for the whole evening and at night till we called it a day.

And it goes without saying that the GS150R impressed him as well (thank you MG for your feed back,if u are reading this )

He felt the throttle response of my bike is superb and it all over felt wonderful to ride.It also has good performance being a normal 150cc and in comparison to other 150cc bikes.

No wonder now, why GS150R received so many votes at Xbhp polls would be justified.

The only complaint he did was that my front shockers were diving under braking.Well no wonder, the pothole infested roads that I ride daily through at high speeds has taken its toll.

But again GS150R has proved that it deserves a place among the truly good bikes in India........and not only to us GS owners but also to dedicated Bikers other than us.

      • I have planned to make some additions to my bike....albeit small ones.....I plan to put chrome handle weights...to my bike....
I have even bought the chrome handle weights of the avenger....but there is a small problem...
the avenger's handle weights do no have a protrusion...on the side they are fixed to the handle..like the GS handle weights...
anyway I will find out a way to fix it...

Guys my query here is I plan to fix chrome coated Clutch lever and Front brake lever...instead of the existing black ones...
the RTR 180 has those type of levers....So I wanted to know if I can fix the RTR 180 Clutch and front brake lever to our GS.....without any problem...

Please let me know guys...thanks for the help....

Guru, If these levers can be fitted properly, there will not be any problem. But, consult a GS or TVS mechanic before buying new levers. If this replacement is to get rid of the paint of the stock lever, a buffing may be enough.
The weights you mentioned are to lessen the vibration of the handle bar. So, fixing it anyway or anyhow is not advisable. In this case too, ask the mechanic before replacing it.

Instead of giving an direct answer to your question I feel better to ask questions okay.

              Let's go

              1. How is your bike and how many kms and services done ?
A ) bike is fine and kms is below 10000 kms
B ) bike is fine and kms is above 10000 kms
C ) bike is rough and kms is below 10000 kms
D ) bike is rough and kms is above 10000 kms

Also add your input if any

2.Why synthetic and why not mineral ?

              3. On what sort of environment you are driving
( ) A ) Indian village roads and a bit of high way
              ( ) B ) city roads with hectic traffic
( ) C ) race tracks and drive like rossie
( ) D ) pure highway and average speed is above 60 kmph

              4. How many kms you travell per day ?

              5. Think again and ask your self do you really need synthetic

                2) Just want to try Synthetic this time...Bike hasnt become smoother from previous oil changes..also in other forums i have seen many people happy after using Motul fully synthetic oils...Mainly for smooth rev

                3) city roads with hectic traffic and bit of highway

                4) i TRAVEL ABOUT 25KM per day. And about 40kms on weekends. Planning for long trips soon.

                5) Yes, I want to try as a last option.

Please suggest me Which Motul fully synthetic i should go for ?

                • Sorry I asked that many questions to know what's your issue and to let you know what you need.

People used to say after 1500 or 3000 kms bike (not only GS any bike) settled down from run it

But the fact is those 1500 kms is for the engine and few core componunts to settle down for few it may take more kms

If Your engine noise is high it may be due the sound amplification of helmet or even without helmet if you feel engine sound is high it may be due to settings adjustment is bad

What are the settings example tappet need to be adjusted or engine is roaring due to wrong carb settings etc.... This sort of issue won't get resolved if you use synthetic oil

Moreover a similar situation is possible for engine roughness

Oil provided by SVC is not apt try some mineral oil wich is in JASO MA2 standerd I would suggest (motul 3000 (4T plus 20 W - 40 or same grade moto 4 gold or valvoline or gulf)

Don't try shell or normal castrol you can also try castrol power one semi synthetic also but motul mineral oil is better than castrol SS

Synthetic is costly with that money you can buy at least 4 cans of mineral oil

More over in normal driving condition it won't show much diffrence from mineral.

Moreover synthetic or mineral the oil change interval should be same as per your bike kms done.
Yes, in the can they said 10000 kms but no oil will remove sludge, engine stress wastages from engine.
New technology (currently available in market) oils both mineral SS and FS has formulated in such a way to stop. The engine stress waste, dust and fine grinded metal powder dusts like small objects from combain togather to form the deadly sledge.

But how long it with stand the day by day accumulated wastages that's why requesting you to change oil at 2500 or 3000 kms max.

Whould like to pour a bit better oil which costs 800 bucks and change it at 3000 kms or a good mineral oil worths 210 bucks and change it at 3000 kms you decide ?

Synthetic is best and recomended under the following conditions
                  1. Extreme cold temperature environment
                  2. Long drives like 500 kms
                  3. Race tracks

Just try motul mineral and check your bike performance it fhat doesn't works synthetic is not the sollution consult your well know local mechanic but give the bike to A.S.S for service

Being it as any oil its best oil changing interval is as follows.

Bikes miles passed is with in 20000 kms changing interval max should be @ every 2500 or 3000 kms*

Bike ran above 20k and below 40k then can be extended to 4000kms

No I won't let it go till 10000 kms with one oil the max good should be 5000 kms

                  * the said kms interval was approximate and always check oil level, viscosity, colour at every 10 days once and if you got suspecious inspect with the help of a mechanic and change it telling this because duplicate oils are there in market.

                  • scenario ::: clutch cable got disconnected while driving what to do ?

Assume you are driving with in city traffic jam and the green signal is on you are on frontline ready to vrroooom ooooo noooooo

Clutch cable got disconnected not able to drive try the followoing

If you are skilled enough to drive with out clutch then drive at slow speed carefully or just walk with the bike to to reach the nearest local mechanic shop.

GS or zeus clutch won't be available in normal automobile shops, even if it is available that will cost you heavy as clutch inner and outer cable both should be replaced.

Here is the emergency method I got succeeded this morning

                    1. Buy bajaj chetak clutch inner cable and ask for TVS XL CLUTCH cable tightning screw. Both will cost just 10. Rupees

                    2. Ask the local mechanic to use it and try with grease no oil.

Got it fixed, and local cable can't be a parmanent fix so going to replace clutch cable sooner.

Vishnu....thanks for your inputs...I hope the levers fit properly...it will not be a problem of course....Ya sure I will check with the mechanics once...

Yes I understand that the handle weights are to reduce the vibration...what i meant is that I will fix it in a proper way.....just I have take care of the extra protrusion which is not available in the avenger handle weights...
I can fix the left side handle weight easily....as the handle is stationary...the problems on the right side....because we have to have free space to twist the throttle....
when I fix the new handle weight it is pressing on to the throttle....and tightening it up and we are not able to twist it....so to fill that small gap so that we have space between....the handle weight and the throttle....
Well do not worry I will not simply fix it carelessly...I am a Mechanical person....so very damn sure about those things.....
The only thing i want to make sure is about the levers.....Yes as you said it is also for avoiding the black color....and also because the chrome levers and chrome handle weights look.....AWSOME....CHIC.....
I think it is better to ask the TVS people....if we can fiT their levers onto the GS....

                          Welcome back kiran,

Happy to hear your GF oops GS is doing well,

Yeah even our manual says the grade only suzuki doesn't recommend any brand or oil type.

If you have time and love for GS then read last few pages of this thread to know what's cooking up

Apart from you whom else can take better care for your GS

Give just what she needs, don't offer a lot to show your love, because that ill became habitual and she will bug you to ask give me more and more

Yes am still talking about GS not GF

That's my humble sugestion, not compulsion or condition or I have no other intension

i had my friends Unicorn with me for 1 month (3-4 months before) but don't really remember whether their were vibs on tank...
i could also feel the vibs on the mirrors, is it normal or should i get it checked?

                            • Yes they charged me Rs 27 as labour charge and + tax= total Rs 30/-

Filter cost 35 and 200 for oil.

View of your scenario from scientific point of view
While standing at traffic signal engine is running so that's the object in motion is attached to object in stationary (that's your bike) hence bike vibrates.

This is applicable even to litter class bikes and cars.

In other words "engine is moving and bike is stationary thus the vibration is their, you can felt that very well while your legs are grounded"

Seems all are busy watching cricket

And the question from my end

The above issue was address in one of the physics law we studied during school / earlier college days somebody tell me which physics law is that ?
