btw, a friend suggested that i use something called 3M petrol additive, he said it'll improve fuel quality and make the engine smoother and increase mileage. its like a 25ml bottle to be mixed with around 5lt of fuel.

Any idea about this ??( since its 3M its probably not some hoax, 3M wouldnt want to lose their brand name. )
    thefalcon,
WD40 is a mixture of fish oil and kerosene together with some other chemicals and its usage in the tank is not preferable because it mixes with petrol.
You can use 3M petrol addictive but I am doubtful about its ability to prevent rusting of the tank because the rusting part is not in contact with petrol.
Burdahl, Iftex, Thermol etc are some of the other additives claiming the same quality of 3M. And this kind of additives is added in branded petrol like Xtra premium, Speed, Power etc.

I have made no alternations or modifications like removing the pilot lamps or anything else as it fruitless. Just replaced the bulb. You can do the same, if you are satisfied with its intensity.

I hope I can do the winding myself. But modification of the connections from the rr unit is a real problem as it has only one output which is connected to the battery. I shall explain it later.
Now replace the bulb and that is enough. All the goodness.

OK...thats great I will not do any modifications....like you I will just put it on the bike....
I tried to buy online...but not getting the correct sites.....I am trying...
but I came to know there are totally 3 types of NB.....
NB H1....NB H4 and NB H7....which one is the correct one for our bike....please let know....
all the three seem to have the same specification....kindly let me know which one you are using....
I know it sounds strange....but believe me I am not able to get it in Hyderabad....I am roaming aroung like hell here....and alrealy enquired not less than 75 shops.....

Can you please tell me what is the Tacho meter shows when you ride at speed of 55-60 kmph? I mean what is the RPM at that speed.

Also since when you started getting this whooping figure of mileage. It is said that one should not expect good mileage from bike before 2nd service.

I hope to get the answer soon. Cheers!
            Lsp2310,
The main stock ended at 4644 km and the actual mileage is 4643/71=65.39 kml. There is nothing special in it because I am getting a mileage of 64-68 kml from the very beginning and I have mentioned it in one of my earlier posting. This experience is one of the main reasons for my blind support to GS.

The usual oil and oil filter change, air filter cleaning and replacement, washing and polishing, lubrication of chain and other parts etc. are correctly done by me, without approaching the sc.
The tank was always almost full. This is how I filled this 71 litres of petrol:
By keeping the engine and carburettor settings intact and polishing the driving habits, you can achieve this or more better mileage; I am sure and I am ready to prove it by riding any GS, which is well maintained and not retuned.
The mileage achieved in a competition in Tamilnadu was 24.9 kms, using 100 ml of petrol. That means 249 kml. The bike was KB 100 4S. It was many years ago and the winner was a X-ian priest from somewhere in Kerala. Can you believe it? No bike modification was allowed.

Vishnu....this is really good man....you won't believe it...I also follow the same method.....in my GS the petrol level has never been less than 5 litres....I feel instead of checking the mileage every litre...it is always better to follow a long term check like you are doing...
its awsome vishnu...this is actually the real mileage calculation...

Guys this is really a good method...to calculate mileage...because in short runs we never know what factors might affect the mileage ...as we keep the bike with us for long time...it is this better way to check the mileage for a long term.....

Thanks a lot for detailed explanation. Very informative I should say.

                Another couple of question:

                1. What is your bike idle RPM setting? Cold and hot both.
                2. How much max & min speed you ride? What is average speed you ride the bike?

                Cheers!

Its good you are with us and escaped with out major injuries

during accidents we mostly didn't remembered what happened at that time
and even if we remember we may failed to react correctly

before the collision we may get tensed and our heart works faster where our brain may failed to apply the correct logic on applying breaks

being it GS150R or Bullet 500 braking needs practice and believe it or not; not only high speed driving breaking is also an art we are all still learning from mistakes

you got another life to live... lets enjoy and keep learning the art of breaking

Its cost is about Rs. 465/-, including the tax. Why are you changing it? Is it worn out?

Usually the brake shoes last long. What is your odometer reading? Mine is nearly 15k, but almost half of it remains. Check again and replace only if necessary.

Request you not to take me wrong, i spent weeks together to come to a conclusion before i bought GS. That was my 14th bike, and i have seen all other bikes owned by me were good at rear brake. At least they were doing the job but GS... Pathetic. It is a known thing that the ONLY problem with GS is rear brake.
