  • engine and oil

Engine is not a flat even surface with no obstacle so the level shown in window is indicatory approximate level it may differ little bit in actual.

Only once we need to fill up to full level thats only during overhauling.

We say 20 w - 40 as viscosity rating which clearly say oil will expand with in certain level more. Than recommend level of oil in engine will increase pressure and that exceeds the holding capacity of engine component and cause wear and tear .

    • Ok guys again the issue about the oil change.....well my opinions...

I think every time we fill the oil we generally do not have time to drain the oil completely....so some of the oil remains in the crank case as Vishnu said...but i believe it is not as much as 200 to 250 ml...
it will be around 100 ml ....or to the max 150 ml....

So everytime we cahnge the oil 1L is compulsory...to be filled...and when changing the oil....if we just drain out the old oil and put the new oil....exactly 1L....the oil level will be surely near the 'F' mark....

The company people know that everytime we cannot drain out the oil completely....so only they tell us to put 1 L and check the level....as they have manufactured the bike they will know better how much oil the bike will hold in the crank case....when we change oil normally.....

In the event of the change of the oil filter.....the oil required is surely more than....1L...at least 1.1L is required......or 1.2L depending upon....the draining of the previous oil....

I generally to the oil change myself....and everytime I exactly measure the quantity of the oil drained ....

So guys please check the oil level the SVC people put in....because....nobody is really caring about our bikes...except us....
so better be sure when the oil is changed in the SVC.....

      • Vishnu...I agree the oil draining is a time consuming job....but if the the oil is drained when the engine is hot or little more than warm.....we can nearly drain out most of the oil.....
well surely some oil remains....in the crank case...but surely not 200 to 250 ml... it will be about 100ml or at the max 150 ml....
I change the oil myself in my bike...and everytime I measure the oil as said in my above post...

Surely the suzuki people won't give wrong or insufficient information in their user manual.....surely they are the ones who have manufactured the engine and they know better than anybody how much oil will remain in the engine crank case....when the oil is drained normally
also they surely know that most of the people who drive the bike are not bike experts....so they will surely have give the proper information...in the manual...

        • Hello GUys

I have made some small light mods on my bike.......

Last friday had some plans to took a leave, but the plans where cancelled and than i took my bike to make some small modifications.......

I have installed 2 Halogen lamps on the sideguard of the bike.....
also searched for a bigger side gurad but dint find one will try it next time...

the two halogen lamps give a lot of light...

and have also installed a HID good chinese one....costed me 1800 Rs...

And the output is fanstastic........The light is very good...

will post the pics soon...was testing it for last 7 days...

no battery drain problem or not even any problem faced till now

Both the halogen and the HID can be statated at a same time...

          the output is awsome....

Note : : : I dont even have to accelarate to increase the intensity of light...

The light is on iginition dont need the start the bike to lighti up.....

Have also used the horn relay...the the mechanic was good and had done

a woderfull job will probably post the pic tommarow..

          • hello everybody,

Please assist me in selecting the bike's oil. People have suggested Motul as best oil, but I cant find that anywhere.
Option I have here in Udaipur:
            1. veedol (4T 20W 40) cf/sf
            2. valvoline (4T 20W 40) cf
            3. mak (4T 20W 40) cf
            4. shell (4T synthetic based)
            5. ac delco (4T 20W 40) cf
            6. castrol (4T 20W 40) cf and synthetic based
            7 elf (4T 20W 40) cf

one more thing, my 2nd service was lapsed as I failed to give my bike on time. so my 2nd service was done at 2700 km on 3rd service coupon(2nd service coupon was attached to keep the warranty intact). Now my 4th service is due on 13th of this month and my odo reads 3150 km. Should I give the bike for service now??? only ~500 km covered.

                • I've always wanted to modify my lights.. But the issue has been that I don't know what are RTO rules for the headlights. I mean are we allowed to use white lights, brighter lights? Or let me make it this way, what lights are we not allowed?

                    Few small questions

1.Does your bike runs the stock electrical set-up ???

2.How have you used the HID ??? As a headlamp unit ??? or as side lamp units on your crash guard ???

3.How long have you used the HID on a single ride at night along with normal use of horns ???

                      CHEERS!
The mechanic is good and brilliant and is a precious asset to the bike repairing field because no one else will dare to connect an extra load of at least 105 watts (35 watts * 3 bulbs), directly to our stock battery.
Once again CHEERS! Long live that mechanic and the bikes he has repaired.

Try elf or valoline or castrol semi synth
Because castrol is not jaso ma2 but rest of the two are but castrol semi synth original is a good oil.

I cannot agree with you, Guru. If the used oil is totally drained or almost totally drained and the filter is replaced and 1 litre of oil is poured, the oil level cannot be near the F mark; it will be at or near the L mark as in the picture; that too before starting the bike. The oil level may lower further after starting.

In most cases, the oil is not drained fully; a considerable part is left. Both excess oil and insufficient oil is harmful. That is why I asked to fill 1 litre and top up if necessary.

Thanks for concern Mr vishnu...Since madhu awaken me that one this bike faces,.... that is ...driving 5 to10km per day will consume more fuel...thats the reason of low mileage in my bike ....And i have Long ride(includes lot of gear change due to bad road) of 250km up/down then 30percent local drive in my town 250km at 4.02ltr but after that same type 5 to 10 ride me gives 40kmpl(i agree RtoR is not perfect)....So i want to try ur method of tank filling(full) to avoid evaporation ....other thing like sound is better than before but ...

It is roughly estimated that more than 10-12% of fuel is lost through evaporation. By keeping the tank full, we can minimise this loss and increase the mileage.
