    • As far I know GS is provided with hydraulic tappets to keep the right clearance and hence no need to adjust it.
So, before adjusting it, consult the sc manager and ask him what to do.[/QUOTE]

dude our gs is not equipped with hydraulic tappets or something like that AFAIK... it not super bike just go and consult sc they will adjust it with feeler gauge
I can put any Signatures :P

      • @ Bangalore guys: I accidentally came upon a 'free service workshop' at millers road suzuki. The free means 50% off on labour.

12, 13 and 14 may. Timings donno......probably regular Sc working hours.

This isnt happening at my showroom. The guy told me that its a customer satisfaction thing.....so I guess customer dissatisfaction must be the highest at millers' roadd suzuki.

          • rear rim becomes hot

Today after traveling for 28 km, mostly b/w 50 and 60kmph just noticed the temperature of the rims and the rear rim is hot and i am not able to hold it not more than 6 secs(saw from the watch)...now is there any prob or is it summer effect?

I request all gspians to check your rims temp after a trip.........just to know is it specific to me or all

check if you are unknowingly stepping on the brakes while riding..my tires are generally warm..not so hot that i cant touch...

              • @nag: I just got back from riding....my front discs get that hot but Ive never felt it on my rims or tyres.

A similar problem was faced by one user called sarathnair and was solved.....I think you can find it some 40-50 pages back.

                • ARE THERE ANY SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE DEALER(& service station) IN KOLKATA/HOWRAH?

Googled about it and got a few Maruti-Suzukis but no Suzuki Motorcycle dealer in Kolkata or Howrah. The nearest one I got is at Hooghly beside Murshidabad etc.

                    Check the following

1.Check if back break setting is not too tight (refer manual to know how to find recomended break settings)

                    2. I think your GS is new one, not in all GS but in very few cases break drum and break shoe need to settled down as both are new, moreover that ill take few more 100 kms.

May be fault in breakshoe but that can't be ruled out as well as can't say that's the problem

Earlier this happens to sathishnair after replacing the breakshoe it took another 15 days for his GS to reach normal temperature.

                    • @kirtimannan.....the option can be ruled out as i generally keep my feet away from break pedal(mostly use front disc than immediatly rear break)

@2strokrama & msn1 will keep the suggestions in mind and also speak to service guyz in the free check up camp for the same issue.

@all gspians...does your bike deviate from straight line(swings/partial rotation) on sudden breaking.......say breaking at 60 kmph. The other day while cursing on 60 -65 kmph did some sudden breaking(both front and rear) to avoid a collision with auto(dumb fellows) which came suddenly from no where.i applied sudden breaks and for the first time i experienced bike swing ( similar to the tvs 180rtr ad ,where a white rtr swings on a curve)it was a close shave for me)..luckily i am safe without any collision...

1)does this mean that there is any defect in break system of my bike or any fault in my breaking etiquette.

@all Hyderabad gspians the free service camp at saboo,Hyderabad starts on 19thmay so be ready....

when it comes to sudden breaking in the huddle of rappid action and the way we react to the situation all it depends on how you applied the break, moreover i hope you wont remember the way you applied the breaks..
for your satisfaction just ask svc to inspect breaking....because driving with doubt in mind is always dangerous

I think that in your panic, you might have pressed the rear brake too hard which might have caused the wheel to lock up....hence it might have skidded to your left.

It used to be a habit for me too to stomp down on rear brakes whenever a situation needed sudden braking. Its a bad habit. Use front more than rear but use both.

Theres no need to panic.....at that point of time you most probably locked up the rear wheel which tended to skid a little..........its a good technique but only under speeds of 30 something..........at 60+ speeds....your bike might just skid making you fall.....so make sure you tend to shift weight more to front simultaneously applying front brakes and rear ones too....(rear ones must be used to slow down whereas the front ones for stopping) and downshifting fast......next time you panic break!!!!

yesterday had a high speed skid.....along a curve with 106kmph on odo.....i should say i survived with only minimal injuries(damn why did i forgot to wear my gloves!).....will post pics of my riding gears soon!!!!!and urge everyone to wear them for their own safety!!!!

                            • Does this locking problem happen with all bikes or is it something more frequent with the gs? Coz I've noticed a lot of people experienced that here, including myself.

                              • ^^^ Yes it happens in every vehicle if you apply the brakes hard enough. This is especially true on surfaces with little traction like gravel and wet roads where it happens for lesser braking pressures.
