Its a leak or the bolt is not tightened properly.... faced the same issue 2 weeks back (had posted if anybody had the same probOriginally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View Post@All - Guys can you check your oil drainer bolt. whenever i touch it i can see oil on my hands. is this normal or is there a leak??
) first the svc guys thought it might be the O ring which sits on the strainer cap.... but fresh oil was still leaking after replacing the same.... then came to know that the oil was leaking from the gearbox where the small sprocket of the drivetrain is located..... dismantled n found out that the oil seal had gone kaput.... changed it (22/- bucks for one) but the mech couldnt make it seat properly and damaged the oil seal..... the svc had only one piece so had to rush to malad svc to get a new one( the oil seal is designed in such a way that it can be seated on the shaft only once if not done the proper way than the ID of the oil seal expand to the OD of the shaft n it is not tight enough to stop speepage of oil)..... next time the mech made the seal seat proper in the shaft groove.... n voila the leaking stopped.... previously the underside of the crankcase used to be oily-dusty combo (dunno what to call it
) but now it is spic n span even after riding more than 1000kms.....
so please check for leaks.... clean the area with water n soap properly so that no dust residue is left n we can find out from where the oil is coming from.... get the issue resolved ASAP n pls check ur eng oil level before u ride ur bike.... just a precaution for our beauty....

From last two days I am hearing Sqeek - sqeek noise from the rear suspension..
Whenever I sit on my bike I hear this and when ever going very slow (on uneven roads) i am hearing this
Its kinda annoying .. Even the engine sound is not audible but this is loud and clear..
My ODO reads 525..
My first service would be due in a week's time.
So guys should I be worried and run to SVC or its just a settling time for my suspension??

No petrol lock available at the SVC. You can try to get it from outside. Am not sure which one will fit..Originally posted by vulcan View PostGuyz reply i need one to get fixed on my new born there are many petrol theifs where i stay !
Problem with swing arm..mostly needs greasing..faced same issue..if you have time go and get it fixed at SVC. takes only half an hour tops. else just ride it out for 1 more week. it will not harm your bike.Originally posted by ashoka_bnglr View Post

Ya... too much highway rides will wear the tyre very soon... I did not suffer a puncture but the wear is visible. Guess will have to change by 30K kms itself.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostThe rear tyre of my GS150R suffered a puncture today............it is the first incident of puncture since the bike had been purchased.

@All :
2 succesful years completed on My GS on May14
[sorry for the late information
]. The experience has been gr8
. This bike is too good. ~21300 Kms on the odo
Recently I changed the oil to 15W50 Motul [Mineral] and the results had not been so good as 20W40.... I would like to know the changes in engine dynamics when a thicker oil is used. Also would there be any issue if I revert back to 20W40 ? I prefer only mineral and still postponing the usage of synthetic oils. Milleage is still around 45 but am ok with it for the kind of ride that I do in city.Last edited by Augustine09; 05-20-2011, 03:03 PM.

At this junction you can try the castrol semi synth 10W 40.
Switching from thicker grade to thinner grade or vise versa won't affect the performance much, eventhough you will feel diffrence in engine dynamics (the way it reacts to your control) -it will show slight diffrence.
To be more clear " its not good to switch back to 2nd gear from 6th gear directly" yes gear is diffrent technology and oil is diffrent but am suggesting you to try castrol as a switch over oil (not as a cleaning oil to use for 100 kms amd throwaway) to make smooth transcition to 20W-40 grade.
Its better for your bike if you change the oil filter this time, and if ithe O ring
Is worn out then change it else don't
You can sence slightly better in smoothness and pickup at the sametime, you may find some diffrence in engine note (sound - slightly diffrent sound you can find it only if you observe it keenly)
Why am suggesting castrol ahead of motul ?
# castrol power 1 semi (part) synthetic is exceeds JASO MA2 standard.
# the 10W-40 grade semi synthetic will do better job according to current climatic condition at Vellor or chennai.
# use the castrol semi synthetic for at least 1000 kms and then switch to motul 4T plus 20W-40 oil.

Don't worry bro, this is quite natural to new GS bikesOriginally posted by ashoka_bnglr View Post

. Usually it will go away even if untreated. If it bothers you just drop by service centre and ask to lubricate the bolt connecting the swing arm

Queries
Thanks Kirti Bhai & MSN bhai for ur suggestions. I shall try the bottle method AND the reserve method next time.
Ok so now here is my next set of Questions!!

1) I had some problem with the seat. To be more specific, my pillion rider had problems with the drivers seat being bit more curved. So I had the drivers seat foamed and almost leveled with the pillion riders seat.
Now it starts to hurt after about 20 kms or so. Its a bit stiff on my butt. Can anyone suggest a better alternative??
2)I tried to clean the disc brake and found that its starting to rust. Just after 3 months...
Can u provide me with suzuki official website! I wud like them to know abt this.. Also what shud I do till they address my problem? Pavan bhai suggested that I ask the SVC guys to clean n stuff.. and ask for replacement if they r unable to clean it...
3) I was always under the impression that, as in Victor, if v accelerate above a certain limit, the bike wud automatically go into the power mode. But its not so im afraid. So just for confirming, do we have to adjust the setting and set in the power mode BEFORE starting the ride..?? Thats a little uncommon i feel.
Whys that so and how does it affect the performance of the bike.??
Also, when shud I switch to which mode??Ride Safe so U can Live to Ride another Day!

it does tend to show its age once it crosses 20K mark.....Originally posted by MACH50 View PostThe rear tyre of my GS150R suffered a puncture today............it is the first incident of puncture since the bike had been purchased.

It would look so awkward and also the seating position will change a lot causing you pain....Options
1: Put a nice fur cover on the seat
2: since its monsoon coming try putting those seat covers with grip...so the pillion wont complain of the slip during braking and acceleration!!

Ask the engineer there to clean it or replace it.....also frequent to the svc as the engineers from suzuki are paying visits mmore often nowadays....

you have to manually switch over to the power mode or the blank mode(GOD mode as said by us). There has been a lots of discussion going on regarding this....but according to me and whatever is discussed in back pages engine becomes more free revvy in nature.....power delivery and stuff no one has any idea about it until someone does the dyno test.....performance wise theres no change as confirmed by suzuki to someone on this thread itself.....but with the free revvy nature one gets the feeling of increased pickup....
As you stay and drive in mumbai so run your bike in eco mode only......and if in case you want to go on highways (WEH and EEH excluded) then switch over to the power mode......petrol consumption is different in different modes.....in eco mode i got 35-38kmpl and in power mode i got 30-32kmpl.....with high speed>110kmph for the entire day....
