Isn’t it better to learn to replace the oil before trying to retune the carburettor?

You mean the colour of the oil changed to brown after riding 20 kms? If yes, the used oil was not fully drained and the left over old oil mixed with the new, when you started the bike.Originally posted by venky7 View Post

I felt you quoted something referring to the oil color,Originally posted by vishnukmd View PostThis too is not correct. The photo uploaded by me was of Castrol Power 1, not of Castrol mineral oil.
and said don't blame vishnu or mach50 because if some one screw up their GS out of curiosity and with out reading the post properly the blame should not be fall on the intellectuals in the forum / thread as we are sharing experience.

Need Help....

Some insane people due to jealous are very keen in scratching the body. If you can feel the scratch, it means they are deep. Deep scratches are hard to go, still you can opt going for scratch remover pen. I wonder those are available at your place but yes, they are very effective.Last edited by bond_007; 03-10-2011, 11:18 AM.

Put the bike in central stand. Ask your friend or anyone to hold the handle bar so that the rear tyre is not touching the ground. now use the spanner given in the tool kit to adjust the suspension. If you pull the the suspension spring while turning it will easily turn.Originally posted by venky7 View PostI read the manual their they say to turn the top of the suspension but did not manage to do that, how to turn it? it's damn tight
BTW why are you changing the setting of the suspension. 3 is ideal for running. If you love speeding, then set the suspension to the stiffest for better control.
About the oil, try to change oil around 2000 km mark, no need to check color and all. Since your bike is new oil will get spoiled even sooner, change it around 1500 kms which will remove all the sludge and metallic particles from engine. First few oil changes are critical for the long life of engine. So sooner the better....

If the suspensions is set stiff, the suspension will settle quickly and so regains traction quickly. If you are speeding its very critical to get rid of the vibrations asap else they will build up and the rider cant control the bike.
BTW every superbike have very stiff suspension. The setting of suspension is a critical process which determines a win or loss and so they spend much time tuning suspension to suit the track conditions. How ever powerful a bike may be all the power is transmitted through a single tyre. Suspension makes it possible to obtain maximum traction from tyre under acceleration and braking.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

Yes; these pens are available in paint shops and are very effective. I did not remember it.
Numerous waxes and shampoos like Turtle, 3M, Waxpol, DuPont Teflon Ultra, Zumol, Black Magic, Armor All, Eagle one, Formula 1, Meguiar etc. etc. are available in the market. Some are synthetic and others natural. Each one has his own choices and preferences and it is difficult to point out one as the best, but Pinnacle Souveran carnauba wax is considered as the best.Originally posted by Krish007 View PostCan anyone suggest a good brand Wax for polishing the bike? Which one do you people use to retain the shine for GS
I was using Formula 1 wax and shampoo, but changed to ArmorAll wash & wax car wash and ArmorAll wax. Both are carnauba based. Their car wash is excellent in removing the oil and grease. The carnauba based waxes lasts about 4 weeks, depending on the climate and hence a regular polishing is necessary.
Now choose one and do the washing and waxing yourself. Ensure that you are getting the genuine products as fakes are common.
Remember the Sheaffer and Parker pens made in USA (Ulhasnagar Sindhi Association), not in United States of America. We, the Indians are not over smart, but astonishingly over smart in making duplicates and, no doubt, in ADVISING OTHERS. Hi Guys,
After putting new HID H4 on my GS with no reserach...
I came to conclusion that I am unable to find a projector for the same...
But finally some mod on headlight will be using P220 projector lamp on HID..
Will loose the high beam but It's ohk with me.....
Will be busy tommarow with some casing serach for the bulb or some mod on the same..
here are the pics of the prokector lamp
Thanks to RanjithNm (XBHP) for sourcing the projector

Will go to the mech tommarow to discuss and hopefully the mod will be ready by next saturday as I am bit busy next weekdays....
Will update the pics after completion...
For now My HID is doing well without any battery darain even after constant use of the Starter and horn...with halogen lamps when needed....
Cheers.....
