Even i experience that thing.Originally posted by 2strokerama View Post^^^^ Ive experienced that weird thing too.
One more weird thing (atleast on my bike) is that the gear shifting is butter smooth only at the rpm range around 4 - 4.5k. At all other rpm's, its a bit hard....as in it shifts in 2 notches and sometimes makes a fairly audible thud sound.
when the bike feels sluggish i rev to 7k in 2nd,3rd and 4th gears and then the bike revs freely after that.
I get that thud sound when shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpm, but other gears are pretty smooth at all rpms, downshifting at high rpms are rough almost always, dont know why.
Motul 3000 4t plus, MRP 235. I guess its the best mineral oil for GS.Originally posted by donarun View PostI am looking to change the engine oil in my GS and I am not looking to spend too much on the oil. Any suggestions ? Also how engine oil (quantity) does the GS need ?

1 ltr quantity is enough,Originally posted by donarun View PostI am looking to change the engine oil in my GS and I am not looking to spend too much on the oil. Any suggestions ? Also how engine oil (quantity) does the GS need ?
oil wont fix all engine related issues but it will help the engine in many ways.

Its been close to a year since my last oil change and my bike would have done only abt 800-1000 kms the whole of last year. So thought its best to change oil now. Any suggestions other than Motul 3000 ?Originally posted by MSN1 View Post1 ltr quantity is enough,

Which size of tyre are you planning to fit and what betterment are you expecting? Whatever it may be, expect a decrease of at least 12-15% in mileage and many other problems such as, speedometer error, difficulty in handling the bike, over stress to chain and sprockets etc. etc. and many more. Before buying the tyre, ask the mechanic and ascertain that it can be fitted without any other modification. In my opinion, the stock tyre is the best and the upsizing of it will not give any betterment in mileage, comfort, pickup, speed or anything else. Even more effective road grip cannot be expected.Originally posted by bond_007 View PostHave anybody tried wider tyres than it normally comes with our GS? I am planning to get this modification.

I had been to a suzuki showroom today in Bangalore to book as Gs150r for my friend. There was not a single new Gs150r in showroom. They said they will get stock of Gs150r only in April and it will be 2011 model. They said there wont be any change in 2011 model except manufacturing date, but they are not sure. Maybe new colors. If any changes are there, even they will know only after receiving the bike in April. Honda and yamaha are removing kicker from their new-model bikes. I hope Suzuki retain kicker.
Also, more importantly, showroom guy told me Suzuki will be launching a new 200cc model after 3 months priced above 1 lak. Now, that is good news, isnt it?

It is heard that Suzuki is launching limited edition GS and ordinary GS with modified fuel tank cap. Rumours are heard about a 250 cc bike, but not sure about it.

Hi,
Is chain tightening easy or complicated procedure ? (especially to someone like me who has never tried it before)
I partially know the theory part, loosed the big nut on both sides of the swing arm, tighten the 2 screws on the back equally, and then tighten the big nut on the sides again, and chain tension can be checked with the help of that window.
But is there any precautions or some fine print which i should be aware of so i dont over tighten the chain, make it more loose, or which would result in the rear wheel coming off while riding.
Btw, its been 4 months since i gave my bike for servicing, but i rode only 1500 kms since last service, isn't that a bit early for the chain to get loose, i can hear it banging against the chain cover and also i feel a jerk when i accelerate suddenly, so i guess its loose chain only.

^^^^ No. Not necessarily complicated. Im a newbie at this too. When I tried it a couple of times, the hardest part was loosening the axle nut with the spanner provided in the toolkit....because its too short to get proper leverage, which means you have to apply a bit of extra muscle to loosen it. I had better luck with a monkey wrench.
Next was getting an andaj on how much to tighten the chain by. It took me a bit of patience to get it in the sweet spot. My area mechanics have never set it to the tightness that I want. Its always a bit too loose. I guess they also have trouble setting chain slack. Manual recommended 2cms slack feels too loose....hence the trouble.

is it ur bike in same condition??? ,which we used to discuss thru PM.???...Ok if Motul 3000 4T plus not avail...U can try Gulf 4T plus 20w 40 or Valvoline 20w 40 as u can see both are JASMO2 std and API...Other than this two CASTROL power 1 15w 40 ...from original retailer...and change it before 50 days or 2000KM ...ABDUL KHADAR
