Even if i ride back to back in the same road with the same quantity of petrol, there is bound to be a little bit of difference in kms. Reasons: Cannot accurately fill 100ml petrol, few ml here & there is possible. Braking may increase or decrease depending on traffic, etc. What i observed is that there was almost no difference in the mileage in ECO or GOD mode. Hence, the chances of the ECO mode giving better mileage due to throttle response does not seems right.Originally posted by Augustine09 View Post

Welcome aboard !!!
Congrats for your ride and welcome aboardOriginally posted by SparKot View PostI got mine(dark greenish blue) on 13th of this month. Done about 200+ kms so far............
. So you were D3Mon
.
The biggest headache a new rider faces with GS is frequent gearshifts(not because of hard shifts, but due to our traffic and 6th cog). Try to shift progressive, steady way. Till you get familiarized anticipate shifts and take easy. Riding in low traffic areas which require frequent shifts will help you gain confidence. After a few hundred kms, your hand and foot will do everything automatically
.
You need not always rev past 4K to shift and be gentle with throttle. I believe the high pillion position gives better visibility
but not if your better half sits conventional one sided way
Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

Guys experiencing Rusting.... MUST READ!
Motivated by Falcon, I complaint in their website and was amazed to receive a call from Suzuki in JUST 20-25 MINS. The person talking to me was Mr. Vikram. He was the first Suzuki guy I met, who was carrying some brains above his headOriginally posted by thefalcon View PostYa, you can ask them to change your tank.
Hope your warranty is still there (all services done as per schedule).
Anyway, regarding the procedure, go to the highest level manager at the service center and tell him that tank is rusting and that you want a replacement.
If you feel he is hesitating and giving excuses like its normal, you can just wipe it off etc etc then tell him you'll contact suzuki directly and that it would bring a bad name to the service center if you did so.
(the showrooms actually take this seriously, last time i complained to suzuki directly, the owner came and told me not to contact suzuki and talk to him instead so his showroom doesn't get a bad name)

He heard my problem patiently and told me that he will talk to the sc for inspection and if they found rusting after cleaning with cloth, then suzuki will REPLACE the tank with new one. After 10 mins, I received a call from sc REQUESTING me to come there for inspection
. So, I went today to their sc, the supervisor(same person who was telling that it was normal and giving me lame excuses), took a cloth and rubbed the mouth of tank. He found heavy rust on the cloth and after cleaning also rust was clearly visible. For the first time that beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
out of nowhere accepted the rusting. Took some snaps of it (to mail to Vikramji) and told me that my bike's tank will be replaced and was asking me to leave the bike.
So my fellow gspians, just use the suzuki website for complaint. It works.
The URL of the same is: Suzuki Motorcycle Corporate Office
I will leave my bike at SC on monday. I will update as my fuel tank gets replaced.
Thanx Falcon and all fellow gspians.

Nothing special, Anup. Usually I do not allow the sc mechanics to play with or experiment with my bike. I do both washing and polishing myself.
As psr said, best way to protect paint is not to expose to sun and rain, and keep the bike dry. (In page 953). Though most of my rides are in daytime, I have always tried to keep the bike in shade.
I am using Formula 1 carnauba car polish and wax, but - as usual - do not insist to use it, as there are some other good shampoos and polishes in the market. Get some good, original one.
Try to do the washing, polishing, oil changing, filter cleaning or replacing, chain adjusting, spark plug cleaning and gap adjusting etc, etc yourself.Last edited by vishnukmd; 01-29-2011, 06:01 PM.

I always try to keep bike in shade. But the problem is now I'm away from home and my friends may come and take bike for their needs. After that I noted some scratches on tank, my friend was placing helmet on tank and sometimes dangles helmet by the rear view mirror even while riding.Originally posted by vishnukmd View PostNothing special, Anup. My friend used Carnauba Polish and it didnt give much shine. Can you say which all are good brands.I am using Formula 1 carnauba car polish and wax, but - as usual - do not insist to use it, as there are some other good shampoos and polishes in the market. Get some good, original one.
I wanted to give bike to service but due to some chores won't be able to do so. Can you do a DIY thread? Next time when you do maintenance can you take some photos and post it. Air filter cleaning , spark plug cleaning and gap adjusting are the most wanted ones.Try to do the washing, polishing, oil changing, filter cleaning or replacing, chain adjusting, spark plug cleaning and gap adjusting etc, etc yourself.
For chain adjusting we need to have tools? Or the tool kit provided is sufficient? I have seen Mechanics tighten the wheel nut with spanners of great leverage. And how about checking the alignment?Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........
