here it costs about 400 rs per coating....
kindly let me know...if it is better not to do the teflon coating...and just wax polish it once every month....myself....

guys....so it seems there is a paint problem if we do teflon coating....???
actually I never faced this problem with my P150 which I owned before...
never had any paint related issues....

I got my bike teflon coated twice. once when i just bought it, and second time 6 months after buying my bike, both coats were free of cost by the SC.
I didn't have any problems with flaking or anything so guess even you can get the bike teflon coated for safety.

But now its been 1.5 years and i've not got any teflon coating for about a year, and my third fuel tank , i just put 3M wax liquid every month after washing it, guess thats good enough too incase you dont want to take chances with teflon coat.

        • Guys.....I found a nice ... sticker on one bike today...
As today was off....I went roaming around Hyderbad...in search of Motul Oil for my GSR....
One guy had put this sticker on his bike....I liked it very much....and plan to put it on my bike....in the place where GS150R sticker exists on the bike....on the rear side....
have a look at the pic below and let me know your comments......
forgive the pic quality.....I just took it my mobile....and it was very sunny...day...

And the funny thing is the bike was a Pulsar150..

Thanks guys....thanks very much for the assurance....I am a bit more confident now that I can go for the teflon coating.....
I plan to do it this weekend....the problem is that...I have bought the blue/black combination.....this is the first time in my life I bought a color other than black.....
so I am more concerned ....if the color fades or some thing...it will look odd....and bad.....
In a black color bike...we do not give a damn...if the color looks faded or something...it looks the same.....

            @thefalcon

Third tank!!!!! OMG....falcon bhai.....what was the problem with your previous two tanks....its difficult to believe dear....
they got rusted or something.....from which SVC did you get them in bangalore....??? they replaced two tanks...that's really good service....

thwy both look same(atleast for the colour part).....

If the coating is done in absolute dry condition and kept in hot oven or similar condition then there will be no issues....if moisture is allowed to get under the coating BEFORE it dries then it will be trapped inside and small bumps may appear.
The modern bikes and cars come with a top coating of clear Lacquer which protects the paint underneath....
Best way to protect paint is not to expose to Sun and rain ,and keep the bike dry.

In same situation as you, this is how I maintain my Vesta. A wash by simple water and sponge - 15 mins. Then two times waxing by Waxpol. It is a liquid wax, very easy to polish and not as tiring as usual wax. Then for about 2-3 weeks, only daily 30 second cleaning by a cloth/Jopasu duster. So about 30 mins per month and 30 seconds per day are enough to keep the bike in good looks.

                      • So there is no solution for my problem. Is it ok if I do Waxing?

                          Anup,

What the sc done on your bike is not teflon coating; it is teflon polishing. The material used and the process is entirely different. Teflon coating, as the word denotes, is making a separate coating - as psr said - over the paint and polishing it using a small machine and it gives much shining but if put under direct sun light, will crack and will have to remove the whole paint using sand paper before repainting. Therefore, this coating is seldom nowadays.

The sc is using a wax polish with the marketing name or product name of TEFLON POLISH, which really do not contain teflon and is a cheating from their side. You can by this polish from shops selling car polishes and shampoos.

In this situation, I do not think your bike is teflon coated. The flaking may be due to petrol spillage, as you suspect. But where is it formed? Anyhow, try to post an image.

Replacing fork oil etc is a nice idea.

                              • Thanks for your reply bro, it was really comforting. I will borrow a camera from my friend and post it. Quite a few times I have noted spillage of petrol while refueling. Some even gave scratches to the tank cover while removing the hose .
